Willow Smith wants Brad Pitt as Daddy Warbucks

If you were a little orphan, who would you want as your father? Someone who’s good with kids, sure. If he’s handsome, that can’t hurt. And, of course, he has to be rich. So, someone like Brad Pitt, maybe. Willow Smith wouldn’t argue with you. The daughter of Will Smith and the star of an upcoming remake of Annie thinks Angelina Jolie’s hubby would make the perfect Daddy Warbucks. Watch the clip below: READ FULL STORY »

'Bones' proposal episode: How screwed is Hannah?

Categories: Bones, Television, Waiting

Bones-613Image Credit: Ray Mickshaw/FoxDespite Bones producers (and writers) repeatedly telling us how much Brennan likes Booth’s girlfriend Hannah — which means we should, too — a large portion of the audience has never warmed to the character. That makes tonight’s episode, in which Booth and Sweets decide in the opening booze-filled scene to propose to each of their girlfriends, particularly interesting. Assuming Booth does end up popping the question, Hannah will be damned if she says “I do” and, perhaps, damned if she doesn’t. (Why wouldn’t she want to marry our Seeley?) How do you hope this plays out? And how do you think this plays out?  READ FULL STORY »

Sanjaya Malakar talks off-Broadway debut, first full-length album, and new 'American Idol' panel

SanjayaIt’s been four years since Sanjaya Malakar was on American Idol, but he’s back in the headlines this week. He’s set to make his New York stage debut in the off-Broadway hit family musical Freckleface Strawberry, the adaptation of the children’s book penned by actress Julianne Moore, on Feb. 23. Producers reached out to Malakar to join the show, which is about accepting others for who they are and feeling comfortable in your own skin (even if you have freckles and red hair). “It’s a kids’ book, but the story pertains to everyone. It’s about people with insecurities, and everyone at some point has some kind of insecurity,” Malakar told EW this afternoon before heading to his first rehearsal. (He arrived in New York yesterday.) He’ll take on the role of Danny through May 28. “He’s the jock in school. He’s cool. Everyone thinks he’s awesome. He’s good at all the sports and gets all the girls. But really, he’s just like everyone else. He wants to be smarter. Everyone wants to be a little different than what they are. But in the end, you realize that you’re perfect just the way that you were made,” he says. Danny excels at basketball, and, fortunately, it’s the one sport Malakar played. “I played basketball a little bit, but I was never really amazing,” he clarifies. “It’s definitely some work getting the choreography down, but I enjoy a challenge like that. We’re dribbling to the beat. I have dribbled a basketball in my day, so it makes it a little easier.” If Danny is “cool,” does that mean we could see a return of the infamous pony hawk? Malakar has yet to discuss Danny’s hairstyle with producers. “I would assume that it would be a little more mild because the show is about a group of 7-year-olds in school,” he says, laughing. “I assume it would be however 7-year-olds wear their hair.”  READ FULL STORY »

The 'Top Chef: All-Stars' beef tongue song: Now a free ringtone!

top-chefThe biggest takeaway from each episode of Top Chef is obviously the most recent eliminee, but, much like Carla’s pot pie, last night’s episode of All-Stars gave us a little something extra. Enter: “The Beef Tongue” Song.

Thanks to either a lack of sleep or complete delirium — or maybe both — the top three contestants, Antonia, Angelo, and Carla, broke out into an ode to the beef tongue, one of the many dishes prepared for Jimmy Fallon’s birthday party, during judges’ table. Have a listen after the jump:

'Guitar Hero' is dead, but we'll always have 'Strutter'

Categories: Nostalgia, Videogames

The Guitar Hero franchise is finished. Or at least, it’s retiring, without much hope of a reunion tour. Activision Blizzard just released their latest investor report, and nestled in the fine print — underneath excessive fist-pumping for the monstrously successful World of Warcraft and Call of Duty franchises — you find the epitaph for one of the most influential series in videogame history: “Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011.” READ FULL STORY »

Howard Stern calls Prince an 'arrogant a-hole' for thinking Kim Kardashian should know to dance? Really?

stern-prince-kimImage Credit: Janet Mayer/Photorazzi/PR Photos; Randee St. Nicholas; Keadrick D. Washington/PR PhotosWe all know Prince is a little… let’s call it eccentric. But I don’t think he deserves the flogging Howard Stern gave him on the radio yesterday for telling Kim Kardashian to “get off the stage” at Madison Square Garden Monday night when she was invited up during a jam and just awkwardly stood there. As Stern described it: “Prince is such an arrogant a–hole…. So she walks up on the stage…evidently you’re supposed to know what to do when Prince calls you up on the stage, you are supposed to dance like a stripper. READ FULL STORY »

Donald Trump running for president? Hair to the Chief!

Donald Trump visited with his former Celebrity Apprentice Piers Morgan last night and confirmed that he’s “seriously thinking” about a presidential bid. He said he’ll decide by June if he’ll enter the race. Asked what his top priority would be if elected, Trump said it would be a 25 percent tax on all Chinese products, so American companies can compete. He referred to China as “the enemy,” and when Morgan tried to get him to soften that term, he refused. “They want to take over this country economically,” Trump said. In his mind, they’re not outcompeting the U.S., they’re cheating by manipulating their currency. READ FULL STORY »

'Off the Map': Is it different enough from 'Grey's Anatomy' yet?

Off-Map-Im-HereImage Credit: ABC The fifth episode of Off the Map aired last night, and while prevailing opinions at the beginning of the show’s run were that it was simply “Grey’s Anatomy in the jungle,” it’s become clear (to  me, at least) that this show is not Grey’s Anatomy. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Let’s examine.

From a medical standpoint, they’re apples and oranges. Off the Map is bat-shat crazy in a way Grey’s needn’t be because the former show’s characters don’t have access to a vast array of advanced medical amenities — and I like it that way. Last night, for example, Zee removed larvae from the skin of a patient (whom she used to be involved with) using bacon. Seriously. READ FULL STORY »

This week's cover: 101 Reasons to Love 'Parks and Recreation'

EW-COVER-1142Best show about Indiana ever! Coolest local government comedy in history! Funniest all-time series with a shoe-shining musician! There are so many different ways to sum up your affection for Parks and Recreation. In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, we decided to tip our cap to the quirky Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) and her fellow government staffers in special fashion: We compiled the 101 reasons why we love this series. Take a metaphorical walk with us through the streets of Pawnee, as we pay tribute to everything from April’s whatever look to Ron’s mustache to Leslie’s rabid idealism to the giant target that’s always on Jerry’s back. Series co-creators Mike Schur and Greg Daniels, along with Poehler and the rest of the cast, shared fun facts and behind-the-scenes stories about the NBC mockumentary series. What kind of fun facts, you ask?

• Ben’s past as a disgraced mayor was almost used for another Parks character. “At one point, that was the backstory for Leslie,” says Schur. “I always had that in my head as a great backstory for someone who’s stuck in a midlevel job in a local government.” READ FULL STORY »

Gail Simmons blogs 'Top Chef: All-Stars' episode 9

Gail-Simmons As told to Archana Ram.

All of the fondues from last night’s Quickfire actually sounded pretty good. I thought that they were all creative. Obviously, in the time they had, some are always going to be better than others. I always think it’s smart when you can take flavors that people are comfortable with or nostalgic about and introduce them in a new way. The truth is, in food there are generally very few things that haven’t been done before. What Richard did was what he’s always trying to do is, which is to take flavors, a dish or a style we know, and reinvent it in a way we haven’t seen before. He’s not going to invent a new flavor, but he can certainly present it in a way that surprises you and that’s really cool.

Jimmy Fallon is a fan of the show, and so is his family. For a while now, he’s expressed his appreciation of the show, and we always said we should get Jimmy on. Working with him on the Elimination was natural. We wanted this season to be about special New York experiences, and 30 Rock is such an iconic place. The history of late night talk shows out of 30 Rock — Johnny Carson, Conan — it just felt right to have the next generation with our All-Stars. We had a blast with them. It really was his birthday that week so the producers devised a challenge that would get the chefs into his studios, live in front of the audience and then have them cook things for his family. He got all of his family to pick their favorite dishes, and they loaded them onto the screen. READ FULL STORY »
