In a sign that Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is still very much a work in progress even after this week’s pre-opening reviews, EW has confirmed that the Broadway show’s producers have been soliciting audiences to participate in focus groups to help the creators hone in on trouble spots in the weeks leading up to the official March 15 opening. In an e-mail sent on Feb. 8 and obtained by EW, people were invited to see either the first or second act separately and then fill out a survey and take part in a 15-minute discussion. In exchange, participants were promised a “Spider-Man goodie bag worth over $60.” A source close to the production verified the email but declined to elaborate on specific issues being addressed by the groups. Jennifer Aniston and Jimmy Fallon clash in Charades
Just Go With It star Jennifer Aniston just went with it last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, playing Charades with the competitive host and two members of the audience. Fallon and his teammate won, but I think that can only be blamed on Matt from Ohio, who failed to come up The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest even though Aniston had given him “The,” “Girl,” and “Kicked.” Come on, Matt from Ohio! 'Parks and Recreation': Welcome back, you psychotic, library book-peddling, sex-crazed she-demon
Image Credit: Chris Haston/NBCWhen I found out that tonight’s episode of Parks and Recreation was called “Ron & Tammy: Part Two,” I felt a lot like Little Red Riding Hood: excited and scared. After all, the original “Ron & Tammy” — which aired near the beginning of Season 2 — was damn near perfect. In fact, I can say with complete certainty that it was the episode that made me fall truly, madly, deeply in love with Parks and Recreation. Sure, I couldn’t wait to see Megan Mullally reprise her role as Tammy Swanson, a woman Ron has variously described as “a grade-A bitch,” “the eye of Satan’s butt-hole,” and a machine “programmed by someone from the future to come back and destroy all happiness.” But how could her second appearance possibly live up to her first? The cast of my favorite show is literally on the cover!” And then, in a state of euphoric shock, they will gaze at the glorious photo for hours before they suddenly scratch their heads and wonder: “Wait a second… where’s Adam Scott?” READ FULL STORY »
Elton John talks rehab comments about Billy Joel: 'He hates me at the moment.' And Billy Joel responds.
Elton John stopped by Today Thursday to chat with Matt Lauer about Gnomeo & Juliet — this weekend’s animated film that uses his music — his new baby Zachary with partner David Furnish (“You’re glowing,” Lauer told the musician), and his feud with Billy Joel, which stemmed from an interview with Rolling Stone in which John criticized the Piano Man’s efforts to get clean. “He hates me at the moment,” John told Lauer. “And I understand why … He sent me a message and he’s not happy. And I understand that.” John’s insistence that Joel, “may want to punch my face in at the moment, but it’s okay,” however, was countered by a statement released from Joel via his publicist today: “1. I do not hate Elton John. 2. I do not want to ‘punch him in the face.’ 3. If he wants to call me, my number is still the same. 4. Good luck with the movie.” See video from John’s Today interview below. READ FULL STORY »
