David Archuleta vlogs about his split from Jive Records, continues to be adorable

Too many words when all he really meant to say was “I got dumped!”

I guess he can go on his Mormon mission now.

I’m 24 and love Disney, Great Adventure, water parks, rides!! Ummm so do all my friends, and OMG YES even my parents who are 50, and gasp they even go on the rides too!! It’s shocking I know. Maybe you should investigate this crazy phenomenon, and write an article on how the parks actually have those between the ages of 18-30 who like rides.. I have to assume the writer here is well into middle age, and totally out of touch with reality.

Just observing how David is, I don’t think he is being untruthful at all about Jive offering to keep him on their roster. He has said countless times how he can’t stand liars and how important it is to be truthful. HOWEVER, with that being said, I think that when Jive offered to keep David on, his new contract would have come with some very serious conditions and restrictions. What I mean by that is Jive probably sat down with David and told him they don’t want to let him go because of his talent, but that if he makes another album for Jive he will have to do it their way and with their song selctions. They gave David a chance to do his own thing music-wise on The Other Side of Down and it just didn’t sell. And you can’t blame Jive too much for lack of promotion or for considering dropping him. They are a business like anything else and the people that work there have to earn money to live and support their families. They make money through their artists’ sales. So in their defense, it’s very hard in today’s music world to promote/sell music about elevators and parachutes and airplanes and all of his other asexual songs. I am a big fan of David, but look at the top songs on itunes right now. Those types of songs are what America wants and those songs are not even close to what David’s music is like. Trust me – I’m NOT wishing for David to start singing about sex and going to clubs and drinking, but I do think he can find more of a happy medium that can be appealing to radio and fit his morals (like “Crush” did). Frankly, I think Jive should actually be respected for being willing to give David a second chance considering they probably lost money on The Other Side of Down. The sales probably didn’t pay for the expense of making the album. Him turning them down is most likely career suicide as it is very hard to go it alone in the music world. I REALLY hope I am wrong though because he is so very talented.
