Barry Watson returns. (Not in clown makeup = bonus.)

Barry-WatsonImage Credit: Jeff Vespa/WireImage.comBarry Watson, last seen guesting on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva as a man who got fired from his job because he insisted upon dressing like a clown (inset), is back. He’s costarring in the TV Land sitcom pilot Rip City (working title) with Zoolander‘s Christine Taylor. The network describes the show, from Less Than Perfect‘s Terri Minsky, as “a multi-camera office comedy taking place at Rip City Cola, a regional beverage manufacturer and distributor. When an Ivy League-educated female takes over as the boss, the entire office is shaken up, particularly a beloved executive at the company who long ago decided to forgo college in favor of working his way up the ranks at Rip City.” No one wears vulnerable, lost, and likable better than Watson (What About Brian, Samantha Who?), am I right?

Even if that pilot doesn’t go to series, we will get to see Watson on TV again soon — he stars in the ABC Family original movie My Future Boyfriend, premiering in April. And it sounds awesome. Per the release, “a curious human from a well-ordered but loveless future, P-A-X-497/341 (aka Pax), played by Barry Watson, returns to the year 2011 to satisfy his curiosity about such archaic concepts as love, passion and sex, and winds up making his own discoveries when he meets the woman of his dreams, Elizabeth Barrett, portrayed by Sara Rue, a newly published romance novelist.” Time travel + a lonely romance novelist (I’m just guessing) + Fred Willard = ABC Family gold, friends.

Anyone else psyched for the return of Barry Watson, and to networks that are as much like comfort food as he is?

What, were they attempting a THX 1138 reference with that title?

As long as he doesn’t start channeling Matt Camden, I am happy.
