Puppy Bowl VII: One hour until cutest coin toss ever!

Football? Psh. Why would I be concerned about the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers when the players of the Puppy Bowl will steal my heart on Sunday? (Get it? Get it? Whatever.) The seventh annual event — complete with Kitty Halftime Show! — already has its lineup, which includes: Thelma, who holds the record for yards pooped in; CB, the league’s fetching champion; Willy, who just married Gisele Poochen; Big Red, MVP of the Toilet Bowl, and Little Red, who — as the game’s “small in size, but big in attitude” player, according to Animal Planet’s teaser video — just finished a stint in prison for firearm possession. (Bad dog! Pardoned for cuteness, though!) So, when the game kicks off in one hour, take a paws and head to the comments to bet on your favorites, discuss play-by-play, or just die of cuteness.

I love, love, love the Puppy Bowl. We definitely like the Super Bowl but always make it a point to spend some time on Animal Planet.

I was supposed to write my paper today but the Puppy Bowl obviously comes first. Yeah, my priorities are totally straight.

    • Jennifer

Don’t feel bad. I’m supposed to be grading papers, but I’m having the same dilemma.

    • Reema

Haha, I;m studying for my CPA exam and am finding it VERY hard to pull my eyes from all the cuteness : )

      Puggy touchdown!

Animal Planet’s got their own spoof and other channels have their alternatives for people that aren’t into the Super Bowl, but you can’t beat the massive high viewership of over 100 to 105 million viewers that the Super Bowl gets annually. Even the rival networks air repeats or movies against it rather than a new episode, which could be crushed in 84th or 86th place in the ratings in that same evening time slot frame! I’ve seen it.

Fine, fine! We get it!! “Nothing” will ever beat the Super Bowl…but for those who don’t want to watch it, thank God (which is “dog” spelled backwards) for the Puppy Bowl!! At least you KNOW the players are dogs, before you read about their human counterparts’ bad behavior in the news….and gosh darn it!! THOSE PUPPIES ARE CUTE!!!

  • Britt

I think “Brownie Sunday” is the cutest dog ever.

    • Reema

I love Brownie Sunday too! But I also have a soft spot for the twins, Zhang & Zhi (sp?)

Aries is my puppy. I adopted her a week after she shot the show. Her name is Lily now. As far as we know…she is a golden / australian “red” border collie/ perhaps sheltie mix. She is 6 months old now…weighs 20 pounds…and is a very lovable, happy, feisty little pup. She lives with her “brother” a 5 year old golden.

I had never even heard of this until today, so of course, I was curious and switched it over to the Animal Planet. How absolutely adorable. I love football, so I was waiting for the game to start, and this was the perfect thing to watch while doing that. Actually, I was late in switching it over to the actual football game because they really ARE hard to drag your eyes away from! Can’t wait to watch next year!
