Image Credit: Adam Olszweski/BravoBuried amid Bravo’s announcement about the launch of The Real Housewives of Miami debuting Feb. 22 is the sad — or maybe not so sad? — news that the fourth season of The Real Housewives of New York City, which had been scheduled for a Feb. 15 debut, won’t see the light of day until spring. Indeed, EW is hearing a late March premiere for the antics of the Countess, Jill Zarin, Ramona, & Co. The big question that comes out of this rather jarring change: Could The Real Housewives of Miami (above) really be a suitable replacement for The Real Housewives of New York City (below)?
Image Credit: Joe Pugliese/BravoIt’s clear that Bravo wouldn’t like it to seem as though they’re swapping one for the other (we can already hear the chorus about them being totally different shows!), but there’s no way that Real Housewives fans — who likely anticipate New York City as one of the franchise’s best iterations — won’t make such leap.
Judging by the preview clip that Bravo released (see below), Miami has the potential to be good. There’s more than one Kim Kardashian look-a-like! A pole-dancing scene! A nude butt through frosty glass! Lots of big hats! And Scottie Pippen’s wife! And from what EW knows about the shaky first cut of the premiere of The Real Housewives of New York City — remember, it’s devoid of star Bethenny Frankel now that she’s had so much success with her own show, which is heading into a second season — this might not be the worst replacement move ever. In fact, this gives the folks behind New York City a little more time to figure out how to cut the remaining ladies’ (and new Housewife Cindy’s) interactions in the most interesting way, post-Frankel. But you tell us if like what you see when it comes to the upcoming Miami. Good call? Better than the aging New York City?

I hate to admit it, but I am going to watch this. I wasn’t too sure just by reading about it, but the clip kinda hooked me in. Darn you Bravo, why am I so weak for your shows??
i know! i try to say I’m above it all but I get sucked in every time! Except I really am done w/ RHOOC and RHODC. I don’t like any of the orange cty womand and dc was a snoozefest!
Well said. I totally agree with your post!
Agreed- done with Orange County and couldn’t even get through the entire season of DC, so those are out. I’m on the fence about Atlanta, so I’ll have to see if Miami can pique my interest. Still love those NYC crazy ladies, and Beverly Hills was spectacular!
Yay!! Can’t wait. These ladies look more freakishly deformed than the RHBH! Woot! Looks fun!
How can anyone watch this garbage?
It’s actually quite easy. You turn the tv on, and find the channel that Bravo falls under, and you just keep your eyes open (blinking is allowed). That’s how!
I will agree! beverly hills and new york are the best. i guess we have hope for the best with miami
Uhhh, the videa clip in this article had absolutely nothing to do with the article…
nevermind, it looks like they’ve corrected it
OH COME ON!!! I was waiting for RHoNY to return!!!
The amount of plastic surgery on some of these women is positively frightening. This might be the most surgically deformed cast of “Housewives” yet!
won’t be watching new york with out bethenny. she was what made the other ladies interactions great. while bethenny getting married was okay, i didn’t mind if i missed it. but it was all of the ladies together (especially frankel) on new york that made it a must see. without bethenny no me. sad.
I am a HUGE fan of all of the Housewives shows, even DC (which I really hope comes back for a season 2). This new announcement of Miami bumping NYC for another month or two is very interesting to me. Bravo was literally teasing clips of NYC on Tuesday night during the Beverly Hills reunion part 2. Really makes you wonder if the new season of NYC is a snoozefest and they want a little more time to work on it. I would say that Miami must be good if Bravo was willing to make this move after hyping up NYC for at least a month now. Based off of the trailer for Miami, I’m sure I will be hooked like all of the rest!!
Wow! LOTS of plastic surgery!
I was so looking forward to RHNY without Bethenny. What a treat!
THe Miami ladies look really scary. Why do these women keep trying to resemble velociraptors! Pretty scary!
Born and raised in Miami and I could not stop laughing during that preview. Although it’ll obviously be an extremely exaggerated portrayal, I think they’re going to get it mostly right. Can’t wait!
So in! Huge fan of all the housewives series, save for OC. But definitely disappointed in the push back for NYC. Not such a good programming decision after airing these previews since Christmas. Poor choice, but of course I’ll be watching.
i was going to watch the RHONYC to see it if it was any good w/o bethany(tho she IS my fave).ive been watchin reruns & i just CANT STAND Jill. so i hope Miami does replace them. LOVE beverly hills & NJ. im over NYC. jill is freaking annoying. she’s a liar & a hypocrite. listen to what she says from season 1 til the end of the last season & you see where she lies. she’s annoying & ugly.
Miami looks fun. The 1st year is always fun as you figure out the ladies. I remember when Vanity Fair magazine said the Countess title was FAKE after the 1st season. All her airs went up like smoke. Jill seamed like she cared for others and now she is the most hated house wife. There is a whole blog with 1000′s of weekly hits, called I hate Jill Zarin. It doesn’t pay to lie or be nasty to others !
I like JIll. She was cute in the first couple seasons. I feel like she learned from her mistakes and will come out a better person this season. Alex or Sonja will be the new villain.
Dumb move to make fans of RHONYC think you don’t have faith in one of the best shows in the franchise. Personally, I was looking forward to seeing it WITHOUT the wild-eyed, loud Frankle. Plus, Ocean County is a fabulous show. Love watching Vikki Gunvalson make a fool of herself. I can wait for the mightry-while Miami. Give me New York and O.C.
