Image Credit: Philipe Bosse/SyfyI have never wanted an answer to a question in a PopWatch headline more than I do now — the former inquiry being the most pressing. The reason for my eagerness is because I’m not one of those cool people who has seen the British version of Being Human and can offer you up this bit-by-nitpicky-bit comparison of the two — and I say that admirably of those who can. (People who have time for British TV and American TV are my heroes, in fact.) So, I’m sorry. All I have for you is a take on the boring ol’ American version. Except, the thing is, I didn’t think it was boring at all. READ FULL STORY »

'How I Met Your Mother': Did the show do a good job tackling a dark subject?
Image Credit: Matt Kennedy/FoxI had to constantly remind myself that it was not inappropriate to laugh during last night’s How I Met Your Mother. (Please forgive the double negative for the sake of my point.) It seems like a rather silly reminder considering the show is a comedy, but I got so wrapped in the darkness of the episode — which was the first new one since they killed Marshall’s dad — it didn’t always feel proper to chuckle. I thought my mother’s hand was going to shoot out and slap my knee for laughing when I shouldn’t be. That didn’t happen, for the record. What did happen was one of my favorite comedies put its spin on what is sometimes the darkest event in people’s lives and made it work. READ FULL STORY »
Chris Harrison blogs 'The Bachelor' episode 3
I’d like to start this week by talking about another dramatic show that I hosted, The 90th Annual Miss America Pageant. It was an honor — as a TV host, there are a few jobs out there that you always look forward to checking off your bucket list, and that is one of them. My thanks to the folks at Miss America and ABC for making it a great weekend. While I’m thanking people I want to thank one of my favorite people in this business, Ellen DeGeneres. She has always been such a huge supporter of our show. I have no idea how many times I’ve been on her show over the last nine years, but I love each and every visit with her, and I enjoyed being back on last week. Now, I’ll return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
The episode started with me walking in to talk to the girls the morning after the rose ceremony. You have to understand that rose ceremonies go late, so often times only a few hours have passed since I just saw them and the drama of the night before ended. In this case it was a rough night. Raichel and Melissa really stirred up the house and the girls really felt Michelle only got a rose because it was her 30th birthday. Not sure if you heard, but last week was her 30th birthday. 'The Bachelor' episode 3: 'There are normals and crazies in this house'
I beg to differ with Chantal’s assessment above: There are crazies and craziers in Casa Bachelor… normal has nothing to do with it. That said, tonight’s was a particularly satisfying episode, in my opinion. From bad karaoke to an even worse exercise in action movie making, the humiliation factor was high. All that, plus we finally learned the truth about Madison’s fangs! I cried more than once during this episode, and not because I still watch this show (folks, I mourned my taste in TV a long time ago), but because Emily recounted the sad tale of her fiancé’s death — not once, but twice! Okay, enough from me for now (click over for my full Bachelor recap and Chris Harrison’s exclusive behind-the-scenes Bachelor blog)… tell me what you thought of the latest installment of Brad’s “journey.” Did the right “ladies” go home? Will you be downloading “Kiss From a Rose (Bachelor remix)” any time soon?
Madonna isn't the only famous person Piers Morgan has barred from his new CNN show. Who else is on his blacklist?
Image Credit: John Shearer/WireImage.comOprah Winfrey. George Clooney. Howard Stern. Kid Rock. The Kardashian sisters. These are some of the big-name guests that will appear on the first two weeks of Piers Morgan’s new CNN interview show (debuting tonight at 9 p.m.). As you may have heard, though, the outspoken British judge from America’s Got Talent who’s replacing Larry King has already barred one A-lister — Madonna — from gracing Piers Morgan Tonight. (During an interview for our “Stupid Questions” column, which appears in this week’s issue of EW, he quipped that he will lift the ban only if she makes a “formal apology” for “all the grief she’s caused me by being Madonna.”) Who else would he say is on his blacklist? His answers may surprise you.

Logo to air 'Dragtastic' comedy special tonight: Host Pandora Boxx gives EW a preview!
Image Credit: LogoTonight at 10 p.m., Logo will air a comedy special called One Night Stand Up: Dragtastic, marking the extremely rare occasion in the history of the fledgling gay cable network where it features a bunch of really funny drag queens. Oh, wait. Who the hell are we kidding? Really funny drag queens—hello RuPaul’s Drag Race, which launches its third season a week from today!—are the bread and butter of Logo! And thus, why we here at EW are always glued to the network. One of the best parts about tonight’s stand-up special Dragtastic—even though we haven’t seen the TV cut yet—is the host: none other than EW fave and RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag U alum Pandora Boxx is the emcee. Remember Pandora’s killer Carol Channing impression from last season of Drag Race? To celebrate her shining moment back in the Logo spotlight, EW spent a few minutes catching up with Pandora when she was in NYC shooting the special last August. Enjoy:
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What exactly is One Night Stand Up: Dragtastic?
PANDORA BOXX: Dragtastic is a stand-up comedy special for drag queens, and they did one last year that was shot in LA and [RuPaul’s Drag Race season 1 contestant] Ongina hosted it, and the queens were Varla Jean Merman, Miss Coco Peru, and Jackie Beat, and they’re doing another one this year and it’s going to be hosted by me and it has four drag queens in it: Bianca Del Rio, Harmonica Sunbeam, Mimi Imfurst, Hedda Lettuce, and Kelly Mantle. [See photo.] Each queen is going to have their time out on the stage—it’s like a stand up comedy special, only with men dressed like ladies.
The Miss America Pageant is tonight on ABC: Did you realize that? Will you watch?
Image Credit: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images; Glenn Harris/PR Photos The 90th annual Miss America Pageant airs tonight on ABC, with ABC-tastic hosts Chris Harrison of The Bachelor and Brooke Burke of Dancing with the Stars (pictured here). To that I say: Really? I honestly had no idea that the show was even airing until yesterday. Maybe I haven’t been watching enough ABC or frequenting websites that teen girls regularly go to or am not reading the right magazines, but I haven’t seen a scrap of promotion for this year’s pageant. Where are the billboards? The magazine advertisements? The hosts and last year’s winner Miss Virginia parading through the morning-show circuit? The lack of all that—and the fact that the show has been decline for well over a decade—doesn’t bode well for its ratings, which have been in a tailspin for years. (I chronicled the Miss America woes one year ago in a story not-so-subtly titled Who Killed Miss America?) In lots of ways, it’s surprising that the pageant is even on one of the Big Four broadcast networks this year, since it had been on cable—first CMT, then TLC—for the past several years before even TLC gave it the boot after last year’s pageant drew only 4.5 million viewers. ABC last aired the pageant in 2004, which drew 9.8 million viewers—a far cry from the 33 million who tuned in in 1998. The point is: Very few people are watching this show today, but it’s not helped by the fact that it doesn’t seem to be very visible. And that it’s buried on a Saturday night. And is sort of antiquated.
All of this brings me to my question at hand. Like I said, I had no idea the pageant was even on ABC until yesterday. Were you aware? Are you planning to watch? And most importantly: Why or why not? Sound off in the comments below please! Would love to hear your take.

Winona Ryder's 'Reality Bites': PopWatch Rewind tries to figure out if Generation X was sarcastic or sincere
This is the true story of four friends who decided to live together in a house, and have their lives taped by the one who considers herself a “videographer” to find out what happens when people stop being polite…and start getting really, really obnoxious. Reality Bites: It sure does! Okay, full disclaimer: We are two snot-nosed members of Generation Y. The film was not made for us. We have no emotional attachment to it. But even though Reality Bites looks incredibly dated now — let’s be honest, it was dated one year after its initial 1994 release — we both found the movie fascinating. It’s essentially a time capsule constructed entirely of flannel, denim, Big Gulps and pre-corporate alt-rock. At the center of the film is Winona Ryder, an actress who more or less defined her generation. Ryder has small roles in two current films — she’s a cheating wife in The Dilemma and an extremely Winona-esque dancer in Black Swan — and given Ryder’s difficult career arc in the last decade, you could argue that Reality Bites looks even more melancholy now, a vision of youth in all its naive idiot glory. Or maybe it’s just a film about naive idiots. READ FULL STORY »
