New 'Glee' Super Bowl episode promos feature fire, football zombies, and plenty of Sue

Darkness falls across the land… Glee‘s post-Superbowl episode is close at hand. And according to the promos Fox aired last night, that episode will be nothing short of a spectacular spectacular.

We’re especially excited to see more of the Cheerios dancing around with purple wigs and blazing batons (and flaming boobs as well?), to learn why, exactly, there appears to be some kind of cannon on the McKinley High football field, to hear the rest of New Directions’ “Thriller”/”Heads Will Roll” mashup, and to find out what prompts Sue Sylvester to bark the word “vomit” as only Sue could.

The promos are below; they’re from YouTube, though, so the quality is less than perfect. If you find yourself wanting more — and we know you will — check out our gallery of preview pictures and Tim Stack’s exclusive report from the set of the episode. And if that’s still not enough, EW’s Glee Central is the perfect cure for what ails you. READ FULL STORY »

Clip du jour: 'Up' reimagined as a 1960s Disney movie

What if Up was a live-action Disney movie from the 1960s, starring Spencer Tracy and Kirk Douglas? Well, it would be awesome if this “premake” trailer is any indication. I particularly like the god-awful ’60s version of Kevin, who looks like a cross between a parrot and regret. Perfection! READ FULL STORY »

Glenn Beck, a chainsaw, and a bunny rabbit

Clearly sensing that Keith Olbermann’s departure from MSNBC had created a terrible void in the realm of news-jock gasbaggery, Fox News host Glenn Beck upped his rhetorical game last night by adding a couple new toys to his Playhouse. At the beginning of the episode, Beck was stroking a pretty bunny rabbit and doing a good imitation of Laurence Olivier’s German accent. “I’m like a really crappy evil villain, aren’t I?” Beck asked, and it was funny because it was true. That’s when he brought out the chainsaw. Beck noted that President Obama had promised to focus on “five pillars” in his State of the Union speech. “Has anybody ever heard of the five pillars of Islam?” asked Beck. “Mr. President, now you’re just poking people. It would be like if I came out with a chainsaw and a bunny rabbit. Now, am I going to cut the cute little bunny rabbit in half? I might!” Cool, a metaphor! READ FULL STORY »

'Southland': What did you think of last night's shocking [SPOILER]?

SouthlandImage Credit: Doug Hyun/TNTSPOILER ALERT: This article contains spoilers from last night’s Southland. Read on at your own risk.

The first shot of last night’s Southland hinted that it was going to be a big episode. A bruised Sammy was sitting distraught on an uncomfortable, cold-looking chair. As a gleam of white light obstructed our view of Sammy through the camera’s lens, a piercing scream was heard, and Sammy’s face crumbled. And my stomach went into a knot. READ FULL STORY »

Oscar nominee and Oscar snubbed 'Inception' director Christopher Nolan: Good day or bad day?

chris-nolanImage Credit: http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/100803/chris-nolan_320.jpgAll things considered, Christopher Nolan had a fantastic day today. His film Inception received eight Oscar nominations, and the helmer himself was nominated for two awards. Nolan is one of two producers on the film — his wife, Emma Thomas, is the other — and if Inception should win Best Picture, they’d be taking the stage together. Nolan also wrote the script for Inception, and his work was nominated in the Best Original Screenplay category. “And well deserved,” composer Hans Zimmer, who picked up his ninth Oscar nomination today for his Inception score, tells EW. (He’s won only once, for The Lion King.) “I’ve been telling people forever this is one of the most beautiful scripts I have ever read.”

Of course, there’s only one way in which Christopher Nolan’s day could have been even better, and that’s if he had been nominated for Best Director, as well. READ FULL STORY »

'Buried' DVD giveaway

Tagged:

BuriedMany of 2010′s big movies were not for the faint of heart, especially those that were released last fall; think Black Swan, 127 Hours, and Buried, to name a few. That last film stars Ryan Reynolds as an American contractor working in Iraq who suddenly finds himself buried alive, armed only with a lighter, a flask of water, and, most amazingly, a cell phone that can still make and receive calls. Despite the claustrophobic confines of its premise, Buried manages to stay suspenseful and surprising — which is difficult enough for movies that take place above ground.

Now Buried is available as a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack — and EW has 20 of them to give away. The discs are courtesy of Lionsgate and available while supplies last.

Want to watch Ryan fight for his life in the comfort of your own home? Here’s how to enter our contest:

'Project Runway' spin-offs in development: Will you be in or out?

Gather ’round, design hounds! It seems the Weinstein Company has realized there could be more to Project Runway than, well, just Project Runway: EW can confirm a Wall Street Journal report that the Brothers W are currently developing two offshoots of TV’s most famous fashion competition. The first, Project Runway: Masters, will pit professional designers against one another. The second, Project Runway: Accessories, is for those who design anything but clothes.

A Lifetime rep tells EW that neither show has been given the green light yet: “There are no deals in place.” But if Models of the Runway could somehow get picked up for two whole seasons, it seems safe to say that one or both of these series will eventually make its way to your TV screen.

So here’s my question: Would you watch either proposed ProjRun spin-off? READ FULL STORY »
