Image Credit: C Flanigan/FilmMagic.com; Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images The Screen Actors Guild Awards are tonight, PopWatchers. But even with a slate of ultra-talented nominees like the ones we have before us (see the full list here), everyone has their favorites. In the movies category, I’m pulling for James Franco. (Sorry, Colin Firth, still love you!) As adventure seeker Aron Ralston in 127 Hours, Franco found himself alone on screen for much of the movie, and yet, it was just as compelling as an ensemble of impressive actors (See: The Kids Are All Right). And I need not go into detail about the gritty arm amputation scene, which was as gripping as it was utterly disgusting, in the best possible way.
On the TV side, many of the nominees in major categories have earned acclaim and trophies before, which, to me, lowers the stakes a bit. I’d love to see Ty Burrell walk away with a win here. With a host of nominations under his belt, it’d be nice for him to get what he deserves for his performances as earnest goofball Phil Dunphy. Yes, his rivals in the comedy actor category are also outstanding, but as Phil would say, forgive me for thinking his zesty performance deserves some praise.
Your turn, readers. Who are you pulling for tonight?
The Screen Actors Guild Awards airs on TNT and TBS at 8 p.m.

Best Actor in a Leading Role Colin Firth, Best Actress in a Leading Role Annette Bening, Best Actor in a Supporting Role Christian Bale, Best Actress in a Supporting Role Melissa Leo, Best Cast Ensemble in a Motion Picture The Fighter.
The ONLY thing that will make the 407th awards show of the season even remotely interesting and worth watching is if there are UPSETS! If everything goes the same way as the Globes and the Emmys like it usually does, I’ll be snoozing by half-tme. If Firth, Portman, Bale & Leo win, the Oscars might as well not be televised. And if we have to sit through yet another win by Clare Danes as Temple Grandin, I’ll change the channel. Here’s hoping for a few SURPRISES!!!
I consider seeing Colin Firth and Christian Bale onstage live on my tv a privilege. Though my god, is there anything more awkward and/or shrill than CLAIRE DANES? I wish she would go away.
I have no problem with Colin Firth being honored for his work. But, for the last few years, the repetition of winners has made the Oscars very anti-climactic. I’m a big Jeff Bridges fan but I was sick of hearing the same speech by the time he won the Oscar. Would rather see a surprise tonight and then even more anticipation when Firth, Bale, Portman, etc win at the Big Show next month.
What the hay was with the tape delay at the intoduction !! Did anyone else notice ?
That drove me crazy!
Colin Firth
and only Colin Firth
I don’t get why Annette Benning’s role was considered award-worthy. Nice film, nice actress, but what did she do that was better than any TV reality show performance?
The fact that you can compare her performance to a reality show shows how excellent she truly was; Benning captured her character with the utmost realism – a feat truly award-worthy.
Glee Cast, Colin Firth, Christian Bale…..
Colin, Annette, Christian, Helena, King’s Speech, & Toy Story 3.

I’m so rooting for James Franco aswell!! He deserves an award for his perfomance. Also Annette Benning!
Hailee Steinfeld!
MCH, dexter, anette, modern family, inception
Mila Kunis to upset in Supporting Actress just to rub her snubbing in the Academy’s face.
I agree. I hope Mila gets it. Also rooting for James Franco.
100% agree… Mila Kunis and James Franco all the way!
Meh her snubbing was deserved. She was good but definitely not Oscar worthy thus the ‘snub’.
Agreed completely. She was great, but not top 5 of the year.
The King’s Speech
Colin Firth
Natalie Portman
Franco
Leo
The Social Network for Best Ensemble!
YES!
Definitely with you rooting for Ty Burrell! His delivery is perfection. Would also love to see Sofia Vergara; it’s a weird category with the mix of supporting and lead, yet she still is the best of the bunch. I would love to see James Franco win, but only if Colin Firth still wins the Oscar.
ACTOR: Colin Firth (Will Win), James Franco (Should Win)
ACTRESS: Natalie Portman (Will & Should Win)
SUPPORTING ACTOR: Christian Bale (Will & Should Win)
SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Melissa Leo (Will & Should Win)
ENSEMBLE: The Fighter (Will & Should Win)
For TV, it’ll be Al Pacino, Claire Danes, Steve Buscemi, Julianna Margulies, Steve Carell, Betty White, Mad Men & Glee
Hoping for!! colin firth, bening, geoffrey rush, & steinfield
Would also like to see Dexter or boardwalk empire win something.
On the movie side of things, I’m rooting for Colin Firth for Best Actor, Natalie Portman for Best Actress, Christian Bale for Supporting Actor, Amy Adams for Supporting Actress, and really any of the films nominated for Best Ensemble would be fine with me, though I’m slightly partial to Black Swan.
On the TV side, I’m rooting for Jon Hamm for Best Actor in a Drama and Glenn Close for Best Actress in a Drama, Steve Carell for Best Actor in a Comedy and either Tina Fey or Sofia Vergara for Best Actress in a Comedy, and the casts of Mad Men and The Office for Best Ensembles.
JAMES FRANCO! completely agree with that!
