Last night, after 16-year-old Scotty McCreery from Garner, N.C., auditioned for American Idol singing “Your Man” — and sounding pretty much like the song’s original artist, deep-voiced country singer Josh Turner — the name Josh Turner trended on Twitter. On the show, Randy Jackson compared McCreery to Randy Travis (whose songs Turner grew up singing, incidentally), so if you were left wondering who Josh Turner is and how deep his voice goes, watch a few of his music videos below. I can also tell you he has a good sense of humor: My 63-year-old mother LOVES him and is in his fan club. She got to meet him backstage last year at a concert, and she told me she was going to tell him she loves his voice. Not that original, I thought, so I suggested she say something like, “I love your voice, and the rest of you isn’t bad either.” Well, she actually did it. He laughed — and said he felt a song coming on. Just thank us in the liner notes, Josh.
P.S. That’s his wife in the “Your Man” video with him. She’s also his keyboard player.

His voice is so sexy. Wow.
Seriously. I’d heard “Your Man” somewhere before, I think, but this guy really wasn’t on my radar and I don’t know why (I mean, I’m not a huge country fan but I do listen to a little country), because that voice is gorgeous and so, so sexy. I’ve always been partial to a bass voice.
Yes! EW mentions Josh Turner, I love it! One of the best voices in country music and he’s got some great songs as those videos will attest.
Josh got his start at a little rinky-dink stage show called High Steppin’ Country at a Christian campground in Myrtle Beach, SC. I camp there and they have his picture *prominently displayed*, although you don’t often see this mentioned in his bio.
Anyone else notice the races of all of the hotel staff in his “Your Man” video? Yeesh.
Yeah, and your point would be?????????
Sounds like your just a racist piece of, well you know!!!!! Get with it ansd get a life, we dont live in the 60′s anymore!!! Get over it!!!!! JERK!!!
Josh is a rather big country star… not sure I really understand the point of this article. Josh Turner is trending, so what? That is like saying Natasha Bedingfield is trending after someone sings a song of hers on Idol… who cares?
I believe the point was Josh Turner is awesome and for the millions of people who watch Idol but have never heard of him…let us introduce you (see: title)
I saw him live in concert a couple years ago and he was great! His sound is SLIGHTLY generic for my taste, but his voice is just phenomenal. Plus he seems like a total sweetheart and a family man.
He’s had four #1 singles, and a gold, a platinum, and a double platinum album as well. So I’d hardly consider him “new” either, but it’s nice to see him get some recognition elsewhere besides just country radio, CMT, and GAC.
Not a single work colleague of mine had heard of him before last night. As I am the ‘country expert’ my opinion was asked.
Like that godawful NBC slogan during rerun season…if you haven’t seen it, it’s new to you!
I am 78 yrs & I have followed young Josh Turner since his first release I also saw him in concert he is the best.
Firecracker is still one of my favorites of his. He has “IT” all…the voice, smile and charm!
I <3 Josh Turner! I've loved him since "Long Black Train" was his single before everyone else did! So glad he's getting attention.
Oh, I adore Josh Turner. That voice is just too sexy; it gives me chills. He seems like a genuinely great guy, too!
I love Josh Turner’s music, The quality of it is excellent and it is true country. Too much of the new music “supposedly country” isn’t really counry at all.
What an awesome way to explain thisnow I know eevtyrhing!
