Clip du jour: 'Up' reimagined as a 1960s Disney movie

What if Up was a live-action Disney movie from the 1960s, starring Spencer Tracy and Kirk Douglas? Well, it would be awesome if this “premake” trailer is any indication. I particularly like the god-awful ’60s version of Kevin, who looks like a cross between a parrot and regret. Perfection!

Previously premakes include Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ghostbusters and Forrest Gump, though I think this Up one really takes the cake. (And it makes me want to watch The Gnome-Mobile, my favorite movie from the era.)

What modern classic would you want to see get the retro trailer treatment, PopWatchers? I want to see The Social Network as a screwball buddy/rival comedy…

What’s it like to be so alone in this opinion?

First 10 minutes or so of the original were outstanding, but the rest of Up was just another cookie cutter movie…

        Not Pixar’s best work

I loved the ‘We Can Fly’ music from Disney’s Peter Pan as well as the Chipmunks’ voices for the dogs. Hilarious.

they could do True Grit…oh wait…there is already one. Maybe this UP! clip should be nominated for a Best Directing Academy Award also?
