New 'Glee' Super Bowl episode promos feature fire, football zombies, and plenty of Sue

Darkness falls across the land… Glee‘s post-Superbowl episode is close at hand. And according to the promos Fox aired last night, that episode will be nothing short of a spectacular spectacular.

We’re especially excited to see more of the Cheerios dancing around with purple wigs and blazing batons (and flaming boobs as well?), to learn why, exactly, there appears to be some kind of cannon on the McKinley High football field, to hear the rest of New Directions’ “Thriller”/”Heads Will Roll” mashup, and to find out what prompts Sue Sylvester to bark the word “vomit” as only Sue could.

The promos are below; they’re from YouTube, though, so the quality is less than perfect. If you find yourself wanting more — and we know you will — check out our gallery of preview pictures and Tim Stack’s exclusive report from the set of the episode. And if that’s still not enough, EW’s Glee Central is the perfect cure for what ails you.

I watch this show for Sue Sylvester. I think we could be seeing some crazy comedy from her in this one! But as a UK fan I’ll have to wait. We’ve just had Grilled Cheesus

  • UGH

Most severely overrated show on television.

    • Jenny

Lol, then don’t watch it. It’s not like this show is Jersey Shore or something, so STFU.

    • banana

Jesus then don’t come on here and talk about it. Honestly how long will the argument of “if you don’t like the show don’t click on posts about it and hate on it.” shiiiiit it is getting old…

  • Kerri

Grilled Cheesus is the best episode ever! Made me love Kurt even more than I did before! I’m really looking forward to Glee returning… it just makes me smile.

    • suebrody

Wait till you see Kurt looking all gangsta! :-)

  • Jobless

People bashing Glee is actually becoming more annoying than the show itself.

  • Lisa Simpson

Looks like another bloated, awful episode.

  • Miss Talk

    Vicious Sue
    + Wemma
    - Crying Kurt
    + ambitious Rachel
    + buffed Finn

+ more of Puck, Quinn and the whole Fab Twelve
    - gueststars
    = second Emmy in September!

    • Miss Talk

      My bad, *first* Emmy.

      • Cameron Yarde Jnr

I think this episode from the looks of it will get Jane Lynch her second.

    • banana

      Hells yes. THIS.

    • ben

      exactly

  • ggny

Puck and Finn being friends again will be awesome

  • KJ

This show has gotten too gay

    • Cameron Yarde Jnr

It’s always been gay if you consider musicals that way. I still don’t think that it is a pure out and out sitcom like Modern Family, Cheers, Frasier etc. It is a comedy drama and it enters the sitcom category so that it doesn’t lose to Mad Men.

But when it comes to comedy no one can touch Jane Lynch. Sue Sylvester is pure comedy and one of the finest comic creations since Niles Crane.

      • Jackie

Actually, I believe it goes into the category ‘Best Musical or Comedy’, and it is a musical. I also think it’s more comic than dramatic, so on the scales of comedy and drama, I think it’s tipping towards comedy.

    • Phil

KJ, Feeling a little insecure are we?

  • Cameron Yarde Jnr

Actually Jackie I checked and at The Emmys it is in the category of Best Comedy Series. I’m not sure that hour long dramas with bits of comedy should be classed as comedy series.

And I think that is what works against it. At the Television Critics Awards, Producers Guild and Emmys it lost out to Modern Family which is mostly pure laughs.

    • Jackie

Apologies. At the Golden Globes, which was just on a couple of weeks ago, they do Best Musical or Comedy Series. Not all hour-long shows are dramas, and I wouldn’t classify ‘Glee’ as a drama with bits of comedy. I would actually go the other way around. It’s like ‘Pushing Daisies’ – primarily comedy, but with dramatic moments.

Anyone find it weird that the article on Ryan Murphy vs. Kings of Leon has disappeared – and practically all the comments were speaking out against Ryan? Odd …

  • googie

Love Jane Lynch but this story gives me one more reason not to watch the (yawn) Super Bowl. Trying to remember last time it was actually SUPER!

    • banana

Let us know what you do instead that day, we’ll all be waiting with anticipation to hear from you!

  • shell517nj

they are not doing MJ’s thriller and they need to make that clear. they are doing a zombie dance to the song “heads will roll”. they are using mj’s thriller to hype this show when it has nothing to do with it at all. where is the estate on this?

    • Cameron Yarde Jnr

From the clips I saw they did a bit of Thriller.

  • Kat

Love Glee but think the show is headed in the wrong direction. Too many guest stars, too much Kurt, Finn can’t forgive Rachel for kissing Puck but he can forgive Quinn for sleeping with him and then trying to pass Puck’s baby off as Finns? In what alternate universe would a guy do that? Finn needs to be w/Rachel and we need more Will and Emma. Mercedes needs a man and how about giving Quinn and Puck a chance? Ryan Murphy needs to remember what made Glee so successful and get back to it!

    • Cameron Yarde Jnr

I agree with Kat. Glee has to be careful with too much stunt casting. I know it helps increase ratings, but I’m not sure getting a big star is better than just casting a good unknown actor for a role.
