James Franco gets Meredith Vieira to promise to polish his statue

Filed under: TV and tagged: ,

James Franco is everywhere. He’s studying 11 different academic disciplines at 14 different Ivy League schools. He’s an Oscar nominee for 127 Hours. He’s hosting the Oscar ceremony with Anne Hathaway. And no matter where he is, he hears everything. Or so it seems to Meredith Vieira. This morning on Today, right after Matt Lauer and Meredith had congratulated Colin Firth on his nomination for Best Actor, the pair welcomed Franco via satellite. Turns out Franco had been listening in as Vieira practically endorsed Firth’s Best Actor candidacy by offering to “polish his statue” if he won. So he playfully called her on it. Watch Meredith dance.

When they cut from the Colin Firth interview to the tease for the James Franco interview, the showed James on TV. He looked so completely out of it, part of me wondered if he was hung over or just freshly out of bed. Or both.

I think he was just feeling awkward.

And once again, I am crushing on James and his talent and risk-taking and smart-ass attitude and baby donkey teeth smile.

    • tracy bluth

Same. And I still don’t quite understand it.

      “baby donkey teeth smile”–Hahahahaha!

  • Tye-Grr

I need James Franco in my life. <3

Meridith is kind of a perv. Some of the stuff she says on the show can be taken a few ways.

How does this man do so much? It makes me so jealous. HA! “I will polish yours as well!” hahahahahaha

Hahah, aww I’d wish he’d win. Firth always plays the same type of role (not to say it’s bad, he did excellent in King’s Speech but it was nothing new, if that makes sense) but regardless, I’m so happy James Franco is hosting! It should be a fun night!

He was adorable! A true Renaissance Man.

  • j

    this seems so dirty.

  • Christina

James Franco is hosting the Oscars with Natalie Portman, not Anne Hathaway.

    • Christina

Sorry, I’m wrong. Where did I hear this? Why do I think, wrongly, that it’s Natalie Portman?

      • Lisa

Maybe because shes all blown up in the news lately with her 5 billion movies out this year.

      • vivian

        Cristina, I thought that too!
But I realized later on it was planted subconsciously only because I read the EW issue featuring both James and Natalie as double feature covers.
        Maybe you did the same?

    • Lisa

      Huh? It’s Anne Hathaway.

  • Avery

There are only 8 Ivy League schools, not 14…
