jim carrey, for the truman show, man on the moon, eternal sunshine and philip morris. even if some of his movies are not so great(number 23) he is one of the most talented actor around, i mean watch dumb and dumber and eternal sunshine and imagine an other actor beeing as good in both movies

If it is true that Dennis Quaid and Kurt Russell havee never been nominated for an Oscar, then that is a crime. They are reliable actors who have delivered again and again in some pretty decent genre films. I am waiting for Quaid and Russell to be given the Jeff Bridges treatment in the next year. Come on young directors and writers, write these two pros a killer script, so they can show us again why we love them. Dig deeper, like the way the Coens dug deeper to create a role for Jeff Bridges in True Grit. I also thought Donald Sutherland was nominated for, at the very least, Ordinary People. Zilch. And what about John Cusack. He should’ve won for best actor for Say Anything.

    Here’s my list:
    Gary Oldman
    Alan Rickman
    Jeff Goldblum
    Christopher Plummer
    Ray Liotta

I thought Jeffrey Wright was nominated for Cadillac Records….I could be wrong though. If not, he should have earned a nod by now!

Christopher Plummer received a nomination last year for The Last Station :)

I’m with you on Jeffrey Wright. He will have a cold stone roll in a film and Hollywood will come running. He is just biding his time. GREAT actor

It’s funny how people even think with the same words. About how it is time for Bale to be recognized even if only for a supporting role…
Also a funny thing that it is obvious to anyone that Gary Oldman and Alan Rickman are long overdue. To anyone except those who decide about the nominations, that is.

Gary Oldman and Donald Sutherland are long overdue. In terms of younger actors who deserve recognition, Sam Rockwell and Peter Sarsgaard would be at the top of my list.

Alec Baldwin (great film actor pre TV)
    Alan RIckman
    Gary Oldman
    Kevin Bacon

3 words: JENNIFER JASON LEIGH!! C’mon, Dolores Claiborne, Georgia, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, the list goes on. It really aggravates me, she needs an Oscar.

It’s nice to see Bale finally get a nod but Gary Oldman? Are you kidding? How has he never been nominated yet alone win? He’s one of the 5 or 10 greatest living actors.
Hey you Schmollywood insiders, ask the young Brit actors who’m their greatest acting influence is and I’ll bet even $$$$$ that the majority of they will list Oldman.
What a travesty of all things Holy.

The word is whom, not who’m.

Michael Sheen, of course. He’s amazing in everything he does, and consistently passed over for lesser performances by other actors. Oldman too, but I can’t recall any work from him lately.

    • Greg

      Do you mean Martin Sheen?

  • tx mama

ben foster is insanely good in everything he does. he’s one of the most underappreciated actors but so mesmerizing on screen

  • Greg

Maybe they haven’t been nominated, because they are not the great actors you think they are.

    Alan Rickman
