Larisa Oleynik, best known as Julia Stiles’ younger sister Bianca in 10 Things I Hate About You, has landed a recurring role on Hawaii Five-0. The network confirms that she’ll play Jessica Kaye, a Harvard graduate and ex-CIA analyst who arrives from Langley to help Alex O’Loughlin’s Steve McGarrett pursue his nemesis, Wo Fat. Wo Fat murdered her fiancé, a CIA field agent, and it would seem, she’d like payback. TVLine first reported the news that Oleynik could become a regular in season 2.
In recent years, Oleynik has guested on Mad Men, Psych, and Without a Trace, but a permanent gig on TV’s No. 1 new drama would be huge. It’ll take me a beat to get my head around Bianca hanging with O’Loughlin, but I’m happy for Oleynik, who, according to IMDB, turns 30 this June. How do you not like the girl who chose Joseph Gordon-Levitt over Andrew Keegan? Funny how that goodwill lasts more than a decade. She can play nice, without coming off as a pushover. She has that sweet exterior, but underneath, there’s some bite. I’m excited to see what she brings to McGarrett’s team.
Now that we got Oleynik, star of The Secret World of Alex Mack, back on the tube, what other child stars deserve a comeback? Go!

Also, I really hope Ray Wise has a bigger role than “Ken’s father in law” next season. It would be a shame to waste an actor as awesome as he is on such a small role.
But as Ray Wise demonstrated on this week’s HIMYM, he can certainly pack a lot of punch into even just a few lines!

She seems pretty talented. Normally I would have said Melissa Joan Hart should be back on TV but since she already is (and I enjoy her show), I’m kind of at a loss for other child stars to make a come back.
