Image Credit: Chris Ashford/Camera Press/Retna Ltd; DreamWorks AnimationFrances McDormand, the woman whose Fargo accent you can still hear in your head 15 years later, has finally signed on for her first animated feature, Heat Vision reports. She’s been cast in Madagascar 3 as “a calculating and goal-oriented animal control officer” whose team wants to capture the escaped zoo animals who are still trying to find their way home to New York, this time by joining a traveling circus. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith will return, and other actors will join in to voice other new characters that are said to include “an Italian sea lion, a Russian tiger and a Latina jaguar.”
More important than whether or not we need another Madagascar sequel — box office receipts say yes, together the first two films have grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide — this news made me wonder if there are other actors out there who have yet to do a voice in an animated movie who need to, STAT. Nominations?

I nominate John Malkovich.
By the way, that “Latina jaguar” has Sofia Vergara’s name all over it.
John Malkovich did Beowolf. Does that count?
I remembered that, but I was on the fence.
I nominated him because I think he’d make a solid Pixar villain.
Good call on Sofia Vergara.
Ha. Ha. I will now maybe forever hear Sofia Vergara saying “Latina HAGWIRE” LOL
I’d like to see Al Pacino as a cartoon villain. He could ham it up to his heart’s content.
I think Patti Lupone. If Disney does more movies with singing like Tangled, she would make a great villain or comedic character. She has a beautiful speaking voice and singing voice.
Important question: Will King Julian be back?
my aunt poopie.
I was going to say danny pudi, then I remembered that he’d already done a claymation episode of community, so instead I’ll say martha plimpton
Has Judi Dench done one yet?
I’d say Steve Martin. His voice is instantly recognizable and he’s so witty and funny without always being physically funny. I really don’t watch animated movies anymore, but Steve Martin would be a welcome addition, anyway.
Yes, Judi Dench did one where she was a cow (seriously, “Home on the Range”)
As a native Minnesotan, sometimes I really wish that people would forget McDormand’s ‘Fargo’ accent.
How about Julie Bowen? Sexy voice, throaty, great with emotion–perfect for animation…
Vera Farmiga, Colin Firth, and Julianne Moore should voice some. All diverse sounding voices.
you’re right about Vera’s voice. I love it. I love Frances too!
I’m not sure I agree with you a hundred percent on your role choice there, Fran.
Maybe Ted Williams. His golden voice would be perfect for animations. If he can get is act together and be able to commit.
lady gaga’s voice work would be fabulous!
