Reading most of these commenets is not surprising. Typical of the left to call Beck names/ never mind the fact he raises millions for charity every year and all hes doing here is praising a show. NO WONDER why Dems lost in NOVEMBER big time. You are out of touch with the majority of America. November’s elections showed that.

what a liberal joke of a site this is.. i guess all of you are respected critics.. how many of you clowns have actually watched a recent show? its much easier to regurgitate media matters and the huffington compost than actually think for yourselves.. if any of you Beck “critics” ever made more than minimum wage or better yet started or run a business you would sing a differnet toon.. its easy to be a conservative hater when your living off your parents, listening to “teachers” who can’t cut it in the real world.. but there is no arguing with idiots..

Now that idiot Glenn Beck has put his so-called stamp of approval on all things…BROADWAY. He’s officially ruined any and all chances for countless fans, myself included, that have followed the best-selling Spider-Man comics, cartoons, video games and movies by giving us a legimate reason for NOT going to see Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. I’ll admit, I’ve been on the fence for some time about going to see this from the very beginning because of cost and mixed reviews. On the other hand I was looking forward to watching live-action Spider-Man sequences on what’s been described as both a breathtaking and incredible set, along with music from U2′s Bono and The Edge. But as it stands I have enough on my plate just trying to untangle the logic that has a hold on Glenn Beck’s brain let alone justifying dropping a couple $100 on a what’s really nothing more than an elaborate play. So for now I’m not about to hop on a train from Philly and support anything a clueless clown like that will recommend. Thanks Gelnn, for getting me off the fence…YOU IDIOT!!! Also, don’t think for one second there’s not some dowm-the-road hidden political agenda which is the real and only reason Beck has given this such high praise.

With much anticipation, my wife and I attended the January 14 show. With much disappointment, and $300 lighter, we left a few hours later. There was not one memorable tune to be hummed on our way out the door, not one catchy song that grabbed our attention (or anyone’s for that matter since we heard NO singing or humming as we departed), no story line that could be followed, and most of all, nothing even close to resembling a Broadway Musical. Large blocks of time were filled with childish video graphics shown on the full-stage size backdrop and odd “Batman” like characters parading about the stage. The lighting, the sets, the trapeze work were all okay but ………….. “Where’s the meat?”. And the lack of anything resembling an ending actually fit quite well with the fact that there was no story line. I’m not sure how they get away with charging for this show. Ironically, each chair had a questionaire and pencil attached as you took your seat. You were requested to complete the first half before the show and the balance upon the show’s completion. Even they know that they don’t have a show yet!

Anyone else get the feeling Beck is a major investor in the Spiderman play?

Saw the perhaps never-to-open Spiderman today, Too masochistic to stay away. They say box office is up but how can it grow if word of mouth is bad. Observations: It was a neat trick but patently unfair to lure the audience in the first act and get them stuck in their “web” to endure the torture of act two unable to exit gracefully. Spiderman as it stands won’t stand long unless some drastic action is taken now. As it is, iit colllapses under it’s own weight and will certainly close too early to recoup their investment, Proves the old adage just because you can do someting, doesn’t mean you should do it. Have the producers, like their character Arachne, a death wish? Uness they do some serious editing they will be committiong showicide, Making a simple story louder and longer doesn’t make it better. They need to cut an hour out of this hot mess. As it is the annoying bits neutralize what little good entertainment is in this ball of confusion. Too bad, as it could be great fun if they could decide if it is a cartoon, a video game, rock concert, Cirque du Soleil, high camp, or painfully corny melodrama. I am no production expert, just an innocent theatre-goer, but it is clear to me that just by cutting down on the very bad off key romantic duets, the repetitive bits and minimizing rather than overexposing the Arache spider lady in her comical costume (and especially cut out her final grotesque slow motion hoisting finale). Either that or just be honest and when the curtain closes for the intermission make an LOUD announcement that to stay for the second act is unnecessary unless you enjoy watching train wrecks! ANY successful Broadway show must soar not in the air, but in your heart. In this show you only feell bad fror the actors trapped in the web of gimics, costumes and special effects spun by obviously egotistical or insane producers and writers who can’t let go of their too many conflicting ideas and expensive toys. Other than that it was fine LOL.
