Camille Grammer on becoming a Real Housewife: 'I didn't want to do the show ... Kelsey wanted me to do it.'

Surprise. Camille Grammer doesn’t think she’s been accurately depicted on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. On today’s Ellen, she tells the pedaling host that being on the show wasn’t even her idea in the first place. “Kelsey wanted me to do it, surprisingly enough,” says Camille, of her now-estranged and re-engaged husband. “I didn’t want to do the show. I wasn’t ready to expose my life that way. You know, we’ve been a private couple for a long time … for the most part, we really kept to ourselves. I was surprised he wanted me to do it, too? I was like, Are you crazy? Why are you making me do this?” (As for recent rumors of her departing the show, Grammer says nothing has been decided yet.)

Check out the clip below, in which Camille tells all:

My theory is that Kelsey knew he was going to leave the crazy hag, so he pushed her to do the show so that people would see what an beast she is and not blame him for ditching her for a younger model. Personally, I just think they’re both gross and horrible now, so I guess he 1/2 won with me?

    • Eshia

      I agree 100%.

      • ?

        So do I.

    • Christi

I agree with wtfnyc!! I cannot stand Camille…….she was a nobody that married a somebody……..

    • Miranda

How about the fact that he was planning on ditching her and if she had her own job she couldn’t plead for big support bucks? There was no way to guarantee Camille would do or say something to make people dislike her. He’s no catch. He just dumps one blonde bimbo wife and moves on to another one.

    • Mary

Absolutely!! Even after a couple episodes I was wondering how he stayed with her that long!!

    • Curly

You Got It! We have to give Kelsey more credit for thinking this scenario through…he totally knew how she would come off in the show, since he has been living with the Jesus complex, pecking order listing woman for 13 years! I personally, think he was a genius to get her to join the show to save his reputation when he eventually left her for another woman. I think its crummy how he left her, but after seeing what he was dealing with its obvious he was desperate to get out. This is clearly why people post rehab should not be allowed to make such big life decisions right away…or you end up with someone as pernicious as Camille.

who gives a crap about this lady or that show. I don’t see how people even watch this show with out thinking about blowing there heads off.

    • Brett

I’m sick of these comments. Clearly you are interested or you wouldn’t click to find this. WHO CARES what shows people watch? TV is supposed to be entertaining. If I find RHOBH entertaining, that’s fine. If you don’t, that’s fine. I just don’t get why people need to consistently shut down things.

This is only one of the LATEST installments in this franchise. This franchise has put Bravo on the map in terms of ad dollars. So get your facts straight, and form an intelligent opinion.

We aren’t all as concerned with TV as you are. I can watch it because I would never let ANY TV show have control over my life. That comment was actually HILARIOUS. Thank you for that.

      • Mikka

Thanks, Brett. I get tired of commenters selecting a post only to tell us how much better they are than everyone else for not caring. How does it even make sense?

      • sunsetsnow81

Thank you for that. I have stopped responding to people who make comments like that because they just want you to go on the attack. I just ignore them and engage with others, like you, who come to these show specific blogs because they actually watch the show and enjoy writing about it.

    • Camille

For that matter, who gives a crap about you or what you think?

    • KaraS

Not knowing the difference between “their” and “there” (and “they’re” for that matter)would be a bigger catalyst for me blowing my head off than watching mindless yet interesting entertainment like RHOBH.

  • Prema

i just don’t trust this lady-she really does put on a facade of being so nice and sweet–people don’t respond to her that way–it seems fake and like she woudl lie to save face.

    • Zip

Of course she’s lying if he “made” her to do the show why doesn’t she just quit?

    • RKMartin

No one put words in her mouth on that show. She purposely sets up other cast members for bad situations, then says, “See?”. Totally ot in tough ciwht reality.

  • odd

That’s strange, back before the show even aired (and they were still picking the cast) I read that Kelsey was annoyed that she wanted to do this show…

  • ST

Yet in the intro she claims she’s ready to ocme out of her husband’s shadow and if anyone pushes her, she pushes back. But her husband “made” her do this? I don’t buy it. He might have suggested it (again so people would see her for what she really is and cut him some slack and maybe to distract her from his philandering) but I believe she was on board with it from the get go. She knows how to bring the drama.

  • Solamente Dave

    Riiiight.

  • Donna

Camille you are lying I remember that before this show started I had read that Kelsey DID NOT want to do the show. And that was one of the reasons that he was going to divorce you. You are lying Camille and I am glad the Kelsey is getting rid of you. And I hope that the rumors that you will not be back on this show is true because you are crazy and you love to start trouble.

    • debi

agreed-it was actually genius on kelsey’s part for supporting HER decision to go on this show…now we know what he was living with for 12 years! get her off the show & give kelsey his quicky divorce too!

  • AJ

So is Ellen selling something (peddling) while PEDALING on the exercise bike?

    • FTW!

I guess EW doesn’t have editors or proofreaders. No real shock there.

    • Dgently

@AJ: LOVE this. I don’t watch Ellen, normally, so when I read this blurb, I was like….”So, is she selling dish soap WHILE interviewing?” : )

    • Nikki

I dvr Ellen, and she was exercising throughout the entire show without stopping (she walked on a stairmaster on her opening monologue), as a kind of New Year’s resolution to get into shape joke…thing.
Ryan Gosling was on before this witch, and it was really cute and funny. :)

      • Nikki

Boo. Sorry guys, I totally see what you’re saying now. It was already corrected by the time I got here. Helpful explanation FAIL.

  • Simon

The most likely scenario is he pushed her to do it to keep her filming om the west coast while he could live his own life on the east coast with his girlfriend. I don’t think he intended to break it off with her during filming of her show but someone tipped Camille off to his girlfriend so the whole thing unraveled during filming. It was just an added bonus that she looks so utterly awful in the show. It couldn’t have worked out better for Kelsey than if he planned it this way!

    • Dee

Good comment, Simon. I agree with you that he was not planning on the break up to occur while Camille was still filming. It seems more than likely that he wanted her busy on the West coast so he could be with his new girlfriend. This is a guy that is on wife number 3 and about to marry wife number 4…he’s not a smart enough to have had this planned out. He got lucky that Camille comes across as phony and is enormously unlikeable. However, if he had been more discreet it’s unlikely she would have found out about his affair. Neither one of them looks good. She will cry all the way to the bank and he will marry wife 4 with much the same results. Something sad about a guy that keeps making the same mistakes, getting the same results. He’s unteachable.

  • tigger851

    she is delusional and crazy

  • shelly

I was wondering the same thing AJ. What does peddling host mean?

  • orville

Has anyone on any of the Housewives show ever come out looking relatively sane and normal?

    • kiki

      Yes. Lisa Wu Hartwell(RHOA)

      • rebecca

kiki. do you really think that a normal middle age woman would have a young gorgeous young man living in her home for nothing?

    • Dee

What irks me is that the some have the sense to use this show to boost their own business….see Bethany and even Jill Zarin. They had a reason to become public creatures and it paid off. I don’t see why these Bev Hills cast needed the exposure…they seem financially quite well off.

  • EP Sato

Camille’s lying. You can tell because her mouth is open. All season long we’ve witnessed this woman make stuff up and play the role of victim. All the while she’s hitting on the husband’s of other friends, acting flirty with her good looking guy friend, walking around all half nekkid in front of everyone, using her mom’s cancer to garner sympathy for herself and started fights for no reason while inviting that crazy medium lady over to cause a raucus.

I’ve come to love to hate this woman, so it’d be a shame if she left the show.

TOTAL BS if she claims Kelsey pushed her to do this. Worst of all? This crazy lady has actually made me -one of Kelsey Grammar’s biggest haters- to actually have some empathy for the guy.

This all said, I hope she comes back next season. Crazy rich women bring good drama…

    • Dee

I’m no fan of Camille…everything you say….I will co-sign except it doesn’t make me feel sorry for Kelsy or like him anymore. He’s a loser that keeps marrying women half his age.

  • The Dolt’s Son

Ths show is stoopid. I ain’t watch it, but it’s got old people. Whair is the Jersee Shore talkback?

    • Huh?

      Pot meet the “stupid” kettle.

Please go watch the Jersey Shore. All the smart kids do.

      • alexis

        LOL!! I agree with u!!!

      • Dee

        Thanks Huh….needed the laugh!

  • MOL

Her idea of the truth is whatever she thinks will make her look good. It sounds like she wanted to do this and he “let” her. He probably knew the marriage was coming to an end and he thought she might get some work from the show. What everyone seems to forget, is Kelsey is, in his own way, as batshite crazy as she is. They deserved each other. Now he’s off with someone half his age trying to recapture God knows what. Dropping your wife like this doesn’t reflect well on him. Even is she is two-faced. He loved her when her craziness worked for him.
