'Tough Enough' is coming back! But will it include Al Snow?

AL-SNOWTough Enough is coming back, this time on USA. Oh my gawd, there’s not enough “yays” in the world. The who-wants-to-be-a-WWE-star series is my absolute favorite reality contest show ever, and the idea that there’d be a whole new crop of wannabes learning how to take their “bumps” fills my heart with joy. But! I have one condition: They have to bring back Al Snow.

A USA rep says the show is still in its really, really early phases, and that decisions about judges and mentors haven’t been made yet. Snow isn’t with the WWE anymore, so I know it’s a long shot, but still: Snow’s mentorship and training absolutely made that show. (That fourth season doesn’t exist in my world.) He was so strict and serious sometimes, and then so goofy and jovial at other — I’m not a wrestling fan, but he was so compelling that I got completely sucked into the series.

Are you excited for the return of Tough Enough, PopWatchers? And are you as adamant about Snow’s involvement as I am?

I am very excited to see Tough Enough coming back. The fourth season? Are you talking about the $1,000,000 edition that was on SmackDown!? Where Daniel Puder almost broke Kurt Angle’s arm?

  • Barry

FINALLY! A decent reality show unlike the crap like AI & Real Losers.

“Snow’s mentorship and training absolutely made that show.”

Couldn’t agree more! I didn’t even realize I missed this show until I read this post.

With The Miz (formerly of “The Real World”) recently become world champ, why not bring it back? Yay!

      I like the miz

      • Sable fan

I could name many other former champions who make the miz look like a joke. Ever hear of Rick Rude or Bret the Hitman back in the day, those guys could really wrestle. The Miz is just a cheap act.

    Love Tough Enough!!

Doesn’t look like Al will be back. At least this time the WWE is upfront about the contract situation – it’s only a 1 year deal.

Umm, hate to break your heart, but Al Snow is currently signed with TNA (WWE’s competitor), so I doubt we’ll be seeing him.

    • Miss Lindsie

Al Snow has signed a few years ago as a Road Agent in TNA. I haven’t heard if he is still there.

  • Myk

What does everyone want? What does everyone need?

  • Mr. Holloway

Head! (Yikes, what year is this?)

Yes, yes I am! Al Snow is what made it awesome. Me likee.

I loved that show! Which is weird, because I’ve never watched pro wrestling, before or since. And you’re right; it would be a damn shame if they didn’t have Al Snow to do the mentoring again, even if it looks pretty unlikely these days.

Season 3 winner John Hennigan is now John Morrison, one of the top guys in WWE and easily the most gifted athlete.

  • heather

That was a fantastic show…glad to hear it’s back. Al Snow did make that show. I remember the season Jon Morrison was on…if I remember correctly he didn’t even win! But look at him now.

    • The Josh

John Morrison was one of the co-winners of Season 3.

  • John

Season 1 – Josh Mathews came in third but became a quality announcer

Season 2 Matt Morgan was removed from the show due to injury but he was still signed, then he was released now he’s HEADLINING TNA.

Season 3 John Morrison won along with (Matt Cappotelli)sadly before Matt could be called up he got brain cancer.

While it’s sad that Al Snow won’t be back this is a great chance for I expect one of the three big veterans to train the newbs.

William Regal – who can flip on the serious and funny as well as the next guy.

Chavo Guerrero – who’s been in the business for years.

Goldust – who’s made of GOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDDD.

Interesting timing to airing it as well, the day after WM 27 to get some eyballs to watch this thing. Let’s hope it’s much better than the UPN version that aired.

      UPN? Wasn’t it MTV?

  • lol

Whatever happened to Maven and Chris N. from season 1? And Eric and Jonah from season 3?

    • Bryan

Maven: Had a four-year career in the WWF/E which includes a Hardcore title win. After his release, he did the sixth season the Surreal Life and splits his time between wrestling on the indies and a gig with the Home Shopping Network.

Chris N.: Was hired for WWE Raw in 2002, but a year later his career ended after getting a concussion at a house show and started suffering post-concussion syndrome symptoms that lasted a full year. Since then, he wrote a book on concussions and works with the Sports Legacy Institute on the effects on concussions on athletes.

      The latter two? no clue.

      • Joe R

        Thanks, Bryan!
