'Nanny' co-creator developing 'Queen of Harts' for Logo, and it sounds AWESOME

The-Nanny-intro-theme_320.jpg Today, Logo announced five shows it is developing. I’ll list them below so you can read about the expansion of the RuPaul’s Drag Race dynasty and the show Sarah Silverman is exec producing. For me, the clear standout is Queen of Harts, from Peter Marc Jacobson, co-creator and producer of The Nanny. It’s described in the release as, “a multi-camera comedy series about a struggling hairdresser who disguises himself as a woman in order to land a job as a nanny for a former ’80s rock star’s family.” Seriously, this is the perfect comedy: You get a man in drag + an ’80s rock star + Nanny humor. (Don’t even try to pretend I’m the only one who’s gotten sucked into multiple episodes on Nick at Nite and TV Land.)  READ FULL STORY »

'Skins': Will you be watching tonight?

skinsImage Credit: Jason Nocito/MTVEveryone has an opinion about Skins these days, and regardless of what yours is, the fact is that the controversial MTV show experienced a sharp decline in viewers last week. So, PopWatchers, how long will we opine about a show that no one is watching? (Whoa, that sounds like that tree falling in the forest question, no?)

For what it’s worth, tonight’s episode seems like a doozy. It will focus on party boy Chris Collins, who takes his mom’s decision to leave as a “party time go” sign. And there will be sex — no, I haven’t see the episode, but saying there will be sex on tonight’s Skins is like saying “a human will speak,” right? If neither happen tonight, I owe everyone a Coke.

While I go hoard soda, vote in the survey below about your Skins habits.

Haley Joel Osment to star in coming-of-age comedy. But can the child star come of age himself?

Haley-Joel-Osment_320.jpg Image Credit: Michael Stewart/WireImage.com; Everett Collection I see… a career resurgence? EW has confirmed that Haley Joel Osment — a.k.a. the kid from The Sixth Sense with the worst imaginary friends ever — has joined the cast of Sassy Pants, a comedy about a homeschooler (Ashley Rickards) with an overbearing mother. And for any fan of Osment’s early work, it’s hard not to say: It’s about time! Though Osment was the promising young child star of films like Forrest Gump, Pay It Forward, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence, he’s spent the majority of the 2000s providing voiceovers for video games or cartoons. But as is the case with any child actor, as much as we can root for a comeback, we must ask: Will audiences see him as anything but a child star? READ FULL STORY »

World's biggest slip and slide looks like world's most fun activity ever

Well, this looks like fun: It’s the “world’s widest slip and slide,” in a man-made reservoir in Hawaii. Holy moly, this looks like the best way to spend an afternoon. Just me, my friends, our bodyboards, some dish soap to cut down on friction, and a staggeringly beautiful (though clearly off-limits) tropical location. Ah, youth: READ FULL STORY »

'Glee' cast offers Super Bowl recipes. Matthew Morrison uses 'crock-pot' as a verb.

To celebrate their post-Super Bowl episode this Sunday, the cast of Glee (and some of the characters) are offering up their favorite game-day recipes here. Watch the video below to hear Matthew Morrison tease his Amazing Chili Cream Cheese Dip. Other actor recipes include Jane Lynch’s Dream Bars, Cory Monteith’s 5-layer Dip, Heather Morris’ Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Balls, and Naya Rivera’s Killer Guacamole. Character recipes include Puck’s Potato Latkes, Brittany’s Cheese and Crackers, Finn’s Grilled Cheesus, Kurt’s Phyllo-Wrapped Baked Brie with Red Raspberry Chutney, and Emma’s Crust less Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. I assume giving recommendations for accompanying cocktails would’ve been frowned upon since the show has so many underage fans. I sorta wish they’d slipped up and done it. Scandal! (Because, you know, this episode really needs some press.)  READ FULL STORY »

'Southland: The Complete First Season' DVD Giveaway

Categories: Cops Rock, Southland

southlandImage Credit: Greg Williams/TNTIf aliens relied on TV to teach them about the inner workings of the human race, they’d probably come away thinking that two-thirds of all Earthlings are cops. (Naturally, they’d assume that the other 33 percent were all lawyers.) But even though shows about law enforcement clutter the airwaves, not all police dramas are created equal.

Case in point: Southland, a gritty cop show that found new life on TNT after being unceremoniously canceled by NBC in 2009. The series, which stars The O.C.‘s Ben McKenzie and Ray‘s Regina King, entered into its second full season earlier this month. It takes an unflinching look at what it really means to be an officer in the LAPD — and, as recent episodes have proven, it doesn’t shy away from tragedy.

Intrigued? If so, you’re in luck, because EW is giving away 20 copies of Southland‘s first season on DVD. The discs are courtesy of TNT and are available while supplies last.

Here’s how to enter our giveaway: READ FULL STORY »

Chinese military feels the need -- the need for speed!

Anticipation for a Top Gun sequel is high around the world, and apparently, the Chinese military just couldn’t wait. In a TV news story about its air force, broadcast by China’s state-run CCTV, someone seems to have tried to pass off a clip of Maverick blowing a MiG out of the sky as evidence of the ascendant’s Chinese air force’s prowess. The Wall Street Journal broke down the footage: READ FULL STORY »

John Barry: Remembering the Bond theme composer

john-barry-70sImage Credit: John Glanville/AP ImagesThe maestro behind one of the most memorable themes in movie history has been silenced. John Barry won five Academy Awards during his remarkable 50-year Hollywood career, but the legendary composer will always be best remembered for the catchy surf-rock theme that introduced the dashing, debonair exploits of British superspy James Bond.
