'Yogi Bear': 'Boo-Boo Kills Yogi' in a fan-made fake ending

The new Yogi Bear movie doesn’t come out until this Friday, but the definitive Yogi Bear fan video may have already arrived. Capitalizing on the fact that the 3-D animated versions of Yogi and Boo-Boo look both ridiculously cute and freakishly creepy, a savvy animator has put together a completely new, impressively real-looking sequence. Here’s the catch: As you may have guessed from the title, Boo-Boo Kills Yogi is dark. Watch below, but think twice about showing this one to anyone under 12. READ FULL STORY »

David Arquette developing game show with 'themed' celeb panel. Who would you like to see on the show?

Filed under: News, Television, TV and tagged: , ,

Saved-By-the-BellImage Credit: Everett CollectionWhen he’s not oversharing, David Arquette has apparently been busy developing a game show titled Ranking the Stars that reminds me a lot of something the Big Brother houseguests would play in a Head of Household competition.

As part of the show, a group of celebs (I’m guessing the term is used loosely…) panelists will be “forced to admit whether they think they’d be more or less prone to do something embarrassing — such as secretly informing the paparazzi on their whereabouts or making a sex tape — than the celeb sitting next to them,” according to Variety.

The actual premise of the show interested me much less, however, than the show’s intention to create “themed” panels that would bring together panelists that have “pre-existing relationships — such as former sitcom castmates or the Kardashian family.” Lord TV, you are too good to me. Imagine the possibilities!

Personally, I’d tune in to see the cast of Saved by the Bell — as long as Dustin Diamond was there; otherwise, they might actually be nice to each other, and there’s no fun in that. Also, I’d really like to see the casts ponder some of the burning questions I’ve carried for years, like who they think is most likely to get hooked on caffeine pills in real life?

Okay, enough of that. Which casts would you like to see on the show, PopWatchers?

'The Other Guys' mothers take over in special Mom-entary

the-other-guysImage Credit: Macall PolayWhen they were filming the hit comedy The Other Guys, do you think there’s any chance that Mark Wahlberg ever punctuated an off-camera exchange with Will Ferrell with a “Say hello to your mother for me”? What else could’ve planted the idea of a DVD Mom-entary, with the mothers of Will Ferrell, co-writer/director Adam McKay, and co-writer Chris Henchy discussing their boys at work and play? The three ladies — Kay Ferrell, Pat Henchy, and Sarah Imperato (McKay) — had a blast, dissecting the film and Wahlberg’s hair, while lovingly embarrassing their boys. The special track is available on the unrated Blu-ray that comes out tomorrow and they kindly offered a few pictures of their boys from the way-back machine. Check out the photos and some choice quotes from The Other Guys Mom-entary after the jump.

'Amazing Race' winners talk sheep heads, diabetes, and never getting angry at each other, EVER

Filed under: TV and tagged:

Kat-and-NatImage Credit: Bill Inoshita/CBSNat Strand and Kat Chang are two of the most adorably non-dramatic reality show contestants ever. The 17th season of Amazing Race had its fair share of squabbling couples (Nick and Vicki! Chad and Stephanie!) and passive-aggressive travel shenanigans, but the team of doctors made an inspirational portrait of courageous amiability under fire. Throw in the fact that Nat’s a diabetic with a fear of heights, and that vegetarian Kat had to devour a gloriously weird-looking sheep’s head in Norway, and you’re left with only one conclusion: These women deserved to win. (Read the full season finale recap here.) We caught up with the conquering heroines to get some clarification (why’d they fly to Dubai?) and ask the important question: Yeesh, do these women ever get angry?

Entertainment Weekly: Congrats on being the first ever all-woman team to win Amazing Race!
Kat:
We’re still getting used to the title!
Nat:
Even if it wasn’t us, we would’ve loved for any of the other girl-girl teams to win. We’re absolutely elated, and very honored, that we’re the lucky team that gets to carry that title.

You two never finished last, but you did have a couple of second-to-last-place legs. What was the low point? READ FULL STORY »

'The Simpsons' takes another jab at Fox News

The Simpsons took another jab at the Fox News last night, completing a trifecta of teasing that started a few weeks ago. On Nov. 21, a slogan on a Fox News helicopter on the show read “Not racist, but #1 with racists,” and a week later, the slogan read “Unsuitable for viewers under 75.” This week’s dig was “Merry Christmas from Fox News… But no other holidays.” Oh, snap!

Except, you know, not really, because when The Simpsons wants to go after Fox News, it does. Like it did on the episode from season 14 where Krusty ran for Congress, and a Fox News host said “Welcome to Fox News, your voice for evil.” That has a little more bite! How about “You Kent Always Say What You Want,” which was basically an entire episode about the conflicting politics of the conservative news source and its often provocative network brethren? That was a bit more aggressive, too. In fact, The Simpsons has a long legacy of going after its parent company, and it’s hardly the only show to do so: How often does David Letterman make fun of CBS? (Often.) Or Jon Stewart make jokes about Comedy Central? Again, a lot. And it’s great, because that is their job, as comedians and commentators.

If you’re going to bite the hand that feeds you, at least make it worth it and really chomp down. Right, PopWatchers?

Jessica Alba corrects 'good actors never use the script' quote

Filed under: Movies and tagged: ,

jessica-albaImage Credit: Nick Harvey/WireImage.comBack in November, Jessica Alba was quoted by Elle Magazine saying, “Good actors never use the script unless it’s amazing writing. All the good actors I’ve worked with, they all say whatever they want to say.” Some folks took offense, including screenwriter John August (Big Fish), who responded on his blog, “I have to believe she was misquoted, or excerpted in some unflattering way … Oh, Jessica. Where to start?” Some other bloggers even piled on.

In a recent interview during the promotion of Little Fockers, Alba clarified her remarks and criticized Elle for doing just what August had insinuated. “There was an article written recently where I was completely and totally paraphrased and things were taken out of context and mushed together,” Alba said. “It was a four-hour interview that got condensed into a page and a half for a fashion magazine … Basically I was [really] saying that I didn’t have the courage and didn’t really understand how to bring my own thing to the table and I would never veer away from the script, ever, no matter what. Even when actors would go off book, I didn’t know what to say.”

So there you have it. Alba actually over-appreciates writers, John August was quite astute for suspecting a contextual disconnect, and EW bloggers are willing to say, “I’m sorry,” when they’re high on snark.

So: I’m sorry, Jessica Alba.

Oprah's new OWN trailer: Extreme Oprah-ness ahead!

Filed under: TV and tagged:

Oprah’s upcoming OWN network has a new trailer, and while it’s no “Get with the program, get with Oprah” song, it’s still very Oprah-y. Hugs! Dancing! Tearing up! Kissing people the way you want to be kissed! Maya Angelou! You know, the basics. If I didn’t know this was a trailer for an entire network, I’d guess that it was a trailer for a season of Oprah, which is probably the point. You don’t get to be one of the most powerful women on earth by going off-brand, you know? READ FULL STORY »
