I liked every minute of this – it really caught my interest. And I live in a cold part of Canada with these images on a daily basis, so that is saying something.

I’m going to go with “no”. Other than the productions values there is nothing really outstanding in this film. In fact, I think it has the feel of a car commercial.

And unless he tied the film to some sort of liberal cause (global warming would be appropriate here)he wouldn’t win the Oscar anyway.

I’m all for a Dziga Vertov shout- outs and this was lovely and interesting, but I’ve been much better and hope its really not considered Oscar worthy. A few stunning shots (when the two cars pass is nicely shot) but a gold man statuete, maybe if it was my personal work I’d think so, but objectively come on.

I too made a short snow-themed film (2min) turned around in 24 hours. On Nov 2010 – Not in New York, but a small fishing town in East Yorkshire (UK).

    I used a (5-year old) Sony Z1, and a (5-year old) Apple MAC.

I’ve been unemployed for nearly 18 months. So I could do with my working being seen and using the recognition to help me make more shorts and find a job! : )

So if ‘Man in a Blizzard’ is deemed Oscar worthy, what I want to know is, how do I get Ebert (or anyone) to enjoy my film also?

I would humbly appreciate your support in viewing my film: http://vimeo.com/17217630

Happy New Year everyone : )

    Nice film.

I too shot a 2min short film in the UK when the snow fell incredibly hard last month.

I would appreciate any interest you have in viewing it: http://vimeo.com/17217630

    Best,

Nice film, but I don’t think it’s even close to Oscar worthy. I too shot a 2min short film in the UK when the snow fell incredibly hard last month. I also turned the film around in 24 hours.

But it isn’t in NY, but just a little fishing town in East Yorkshire (UK). I filmed it on a 5 year old Sony Z1 camera, and edited it on an equally as old Final Cut Pro system.

I just wish that someone would discover my films and cause them explode on the net like this film. You could argue the my film isn’t as good, but the fact is there are countless filmmakers submitting films online, as good if not better, everyday.

All I wanna know is what qualifies ‘Idiot with a tripod’ to be so ahead of the pack? We are a filmmakers from all over the world trying to make a name for ourselves, and Eberts ravings are almost like a kick in the guts for the rest of us…

What are we supposed to strive for now in order to get recognised? This whole episode is almost telling me “don’t try so hard”.

So, that being said, I would humbly appreciate any support and interest you have in viewing ‘Let it Snow’: http://vimeo.com/17217630

Now I’m not saying that I think my film is Oscar worthy either, I’m just saying…

    Happy New Year! : )
