'Real Housewives of New York': Cindy Barshop is the newest cast member. Who will she clash with?

Real-Housewives-New-York_320.jpg Image Credit: Bravo; Inset: Amy Sussman/FilmMagic.com The Real Housewives family has welcomed a new addition. Bravo has confirmed to EW that Completely Bare founder Cindy Barshop will be the newest cast member of the network’s hit The Real Housewives of New York. (The New York Post had the news first.) So what do we know about Barshop? At this point, the bare (heh) minimum: She runs the chain of day spas that focuses on waxing and laser hair removal, is a native of Long Island, and is a single mother of two twin girls named Zoe and Jesse who were born in 2009.

Of course, those three things tell us nothing about Barshop’s personality. And, really, there’s only one thing every fan of the Bravo series wants to know: Which Housewives cast member will she spar with? My guess is she’ll be friend to fellow businesswoman Alex and fellow Long Island native Jill, and the Post‘s piece already states that she’s pals with Ramona. The story also states, however, that she “has connections” to Kelly, which sounds ominous — or at least, as ominous as things can get for someone who lives in a world of cartwheels, lollipops, and rainbows. (And it would be perfect to see Barshop pick up where Bethenny left off — even if Bravo insists that the new cast member is not a replacement for Bethenny Frankel, who has long been rumored to be leaving the show.) And Barshop’s “cool and laudable” life decisions that “will invite watercooler conversations” — according to Bravo Programming Vice President Christian Barcellos — will surely transform LuAnn into the patronizingly supportive frenemy, darling, and Sonja into the passionately supportive friend.

So now I turn to you, PopWatchers. Who do you think Barshop will spar with on this upcoming season of Real Housewives? Vote below!

So this is nuts! How many “housewives” do they need on one show? Enough already.

  • Clt

I dropped them last season after Jill’s bullying and Bravo letting Kelly breakdown on camera. No more NY housewives for me. I didn’t even follow Bethenny to her show.

    • Claire

Ooo…Bethenny Getting Married was a great show.

  • SeattleGirl3

This writer needs to keep up — Bethenny has already announced she is NOT coming back onto the Real Housewives. That’s old news.
I am just glad they didn’t bring on Jill’s friend, Jen from last season. It was so obvious Jill was trying to get her on.
New York is my favorite installment – they’re witty and intelligent, but I wish they would drop toxic Jill and Kelly. It’s no fun to watch them. Look at Beverly Hills and Atlanta – you want people who are FUN to watch.

    • Hannah

Yeah, that was announced, what? Last summer??

      • Julie

She is contracted to make approximately 6 or 7 appearances during the season. Then she is done.

  • Lia

Too soon to tell. Already missing Bethenny’s wit though. But I will keep watching.

  • kelly

she is not married I thought the show was Housewives.

    • SaraJ

Same thing I thought. I wish they would pick more married gals.

Being an actual housewife has never really been a criterion for being included in any of the “Real Housewives” installments, going back to the very first, Orange County. Apparently, the only requirements for being a “housewife,” as far as these shows is concerned, are a vajajay, an attitude, and some major psychological problems.

Watching unstable people like Kelly is stressful, unnerving. Not pleasant at all. I stopped watching after 1st season of her. Jill is sucky too.

    *”With whom will she clash?”

Haven’t watched and won’t watch til Kelly is gone and someone runs over Jill. All I can say to the woman is 1) good luck; 2) you’re crazy to join this asylum. No one needs that much publicity, grief and certainly not the money.

    • SaraS

LOL… I wish she would’ve gotten run over when she tried to ice skate last season.

  • Kathy

How many unmarried women does that make on the show now? Maybe they should call the show “Housewives and their Looney associates”

  • KikiNYC

These women need to get over themselves already. The Beverly Hills women have blown away all of the other cities…pure fun to watch. Why are the majority of the women on these shows unmarried?? How does that make them “housewives”? SO SICK OF BETHANY! Glad she’s gone.

  • Ja

I don’t plan to watch without Bethenny – she kept it real.

Kelly is out of her mind and Jill is evil.

    • Liz

Agreed on all points! I was really uncomfortable watching Kelly’s mental break down last season.

  • Bazinga!

Oh man, I am SO watching. Even though Kelly’s “Extreme Meltdown” (hey that should be the name of a new show) was mostly painful and sad, it was an affirmation that myself and my family and friends are all A-OK!

To all my friends out there in EW Land – Merry Christmas! And Happy Hanukkah, Kwanaza, and Ramadan!

  • mary

Its funny because noone on these shows are actually housewives! It should be called the real “ex-wives” of nyc. furthermore Basketball Wives should be retitled: Basketball ex-wives,ex-girlfriends and groupies.

  • Evil Melvin!!

    • meliot

@Evil Melvin – Merry Christmas! Peace on Earth; goodwill toward men.

    • Kay

You need to meditate! Taje deep slow breaths

    • dilly

If you think they are bad, you should listen to yourself!! I’d rather watch cat fights than hang around and listen to someone like you any day.

    • dilly

And while your at it, why don’t you get off of their website????????

    • JoyceM

I guess you’ll continue watching FOX tv instead…. have fun with that!
