I really like On The Rocks from Eugene!
I thought Committed was the best … but I thought Groove for Thought shoulda been runner-up. Still don’t know how they were eliminated so soon.
I don’t think you can judge the groups based on the finale. It’s live TV, they’re not professionals and I’m sure they were nervous.
With that said, Committed can’t hold a candle to SCS. SCS has better arrangements and better musicians.
Additionally, it was a pretty poor representation of Committed’s religion to trust their crotches. And their excuse of; “we make mistakes” is weak. They knew exactly what they were doing. Either represent your “lord and savior” or sell out. It was obvious what they did.
I don’t think they sold out at all. And even if they had done a complete 180, they are still the most talented group in the competition. I keep seeing a bunch of people complaining about Committed’s win, but where were these people during the 4 days that they were allowed to vote? Maybe they wouldn’t need to complain had they been more proactive and voted for their desired result.
It’s not like Committed’s win came out of nowhere. 1)They were the frontrunners from day 1 of the competition. We all know how important first impressions are. 2)They obviously have developed largest fan base. Even before they were announced the winners, they had significantly more fans on their facebook page than even the second ranked group, they had well over a million hits on youtube for their performances, and per epic records website, they had the most downloaded songs of any group in the competition (which means they were the most commercially viable during the show).
I think that whether your favorite won or not you should still be okay with the end results because the amount of exposure these groups have gotten should be enough to catapult them into a successful career. This is even more true for SCS because their lead singer is already a professional musician, and I’m sure he has music on deck that he could release tomorrow. All he needed was some ears, and he now has 9 MILLION of them.
Please excuse my typos. Ick.
I disagree that they were the most talented or front runner from day 1. Their arrangements were safe, they never took any musical risks, and never stepped outside their comfort zone. All of their performances sounded similar.
Popular and number of Facebook fans doesn’t equal being the best. See also: American Idol.
Re: Epic Record and being the most viable, again, that doesn’t mean they were the best.
I don’t have to be okay with the end results if I disagree with them. In fact, I think the results turned me off from the show.
I do love that this show has brought another form of music to the masses.
Please excuse my typos too.
Merry Christmas!
All the groups were tremendous, and they all had pitch trouble. Acapella is HARD. That’s what makes it so much fun. As to picking the winner, I knew the producers would pick Committed. If you have two equally talented groups, one white and one black, you pick the black group on the basis of sales. Black groups will sell equally well to black and white audiences, White groups will not. It is simply a matter of money.
Both groups were outstanding, but money calls the tune. As a lover of vocal music, I’d like to see a collection of the best of all the groups on the show.
