There’s only one episode of Survivor: Nicaragua left, so we went to the host with the host, Jeff Probst, to break it all down. He joins Annie Barrett and yours truly on the newest edition of the TV Insiders podcast to discuss this season’s big quitter controversy, to debate whether any competitor has ever made it as far as Dan while doing so little, and to reveal whom he’ll be rooting for to win the million dollars. Not only that, but Probst divulges whether we’ll ever see the Medallion of Power again, and uncorks some teases about next season of Survivor. It’s a must-listen for any Survivor fan.

Then, we corner TV critic extraordinaire Ken Tucker and force him to reveal his top 10 shows of the year. What made the list? What just missed the cut? And what poor program was dubbed the worst show of all 2010? All will be revealed on the podcast below. Just click on the audio icon to enjoy all the fun. And don’t forget that we’re now on iTunes! You can subscribe for free right here and take the TV Insiders with you on the go. If you’re not on iTunes, you can download directly here. No more Slezak? What a horrible way to end 2010!

  • Shannon

I so agree-I can read way faster than they can talk!

    • lori

That’s because they’re reading what they wrote. ;-)

    • Pete

I will never understand why they don’t just put up a transcript and let us read. I guess it does stroke their egos enough – they need to hear themselves talk.

      • hello

Agreed. Give us the option of reading. I do not listen to podcasts.

  • gTmmmmmmmm

Is the image a spoiler? Dan and Chase are in the jury then? Which means Fabio wins the next two immunities? Did u guys drop the ball big time there??

    • DLane

In the podcast, the three shown are picked to be the most deserving. I think this must be the reason for the photo.

  • AK

Michael Slezak is leaving EW?! NOOOO!!!

    • AK

Wait, Jason Averett is leaving too? This is just not fair! I wish them all the best in their future ventures, but they will definitely be missed. At least, Dalton and Annie are sticking around to keep us laughing…

      • Jobless

They weren’t too clear on that. At first I thought he just wasn’t doing the podcast anymore but then it did sound like he was leaving EW completely at the end. I’m not sure.

No more Idolatry?? Well, that does it. Not watching American Idol ever again. (Really. I was only going to watch it so I’d know what was going on on Idolatry.)

    • surzynk89

So does that mean no more Idolatry? That is going to be so upsetting!

    • Kacey

      He’s left to work w/Ausiello.

  • MCS

Write this down please. No more podcasts. Or have transcripts.

    • ally

I agree – these are just torture to listen to – especially if you have to wait thru stuff you aren’t interested in. Have transcripts!

    • Stephanie

Agree! would rather scan an article than listen to a podcast about this!!

  • Ellen

It’s true… he is leaving for tvline.com… No more Idolatry? Mike say it isn’t so!

    • ally

Couldn’t be happier – his writing was WAY too slanted.

  • Heidi

i really hope Slezak is not leaving. He is such a great asset to the site/magazine, especially around AI.

    • Holly

      Agreed. He will be missed.

  • Heidi

Love that Probst loves the physical embraces and admits it. I love love as well.

Rooting for Fabio (Judson) as he’s the underdog. He’s just a sweet guy. He’s mellow and honest (and I don’t think it means he’s dumb). I like Chase (felt he was a good guy) but the wishy washy thing was annoying). I liked Holly more when she gave up the reward, kinda felt it could be a million dollar decision if she gets to the final two. Would be very disappointed if Dan or Sash wins. Dan is just a likeable guy but should never win first or second. Sash talks a good game. If he was in the final he could be convincing just cause he’s so well spoken.

    • BruceMpls

Dan has a chance at coming in second. I think all the remaining contestants would want to bring him to the finals because I don’t think anyone thinks he would receive one vote. Dan is, by far, the least active player in Survivor history. I think I could count only using my thumbs how many times he was highlighted in the tv editing and still have a thumb or two left.

      • Stephanie

Even Sandra was busy running her mouth although she was terrible at challenges and sat out every chance she got. Dan just… I can’t believe he made it this far. I don’t think he’s as cunning as Sandra, but he could be a sleeper win. If he’s up against Sash, who’s lied a lot, or something like that. Who knows!

  • Heidi

I just have a feeling that a) this may be the last survivor season and b) it will be with every winner of survivor (or as many as 18 of them) since it began.
That could be a great season!

    • TorontoTom

It’s BOSTON ROB vs, RUSSELL and both get immunity until the merge. Promises to be the best season ever! Could mean no more targeting leaders, no more voting off strong contestants early, no more under the radar Dans!!! CAN’T WAIT!

      • Maggie May

Would love that. Especially since Russell can’t stand having any strong players around him. He will mastermind his own downfall.

      • J

Which means I won’t be watching. I will not watch Russell Hantz ever again.

    • dusen

Are you mad, man? Rob and Russell having immunity into the merge totally goes against the whole concept of Survivor.

I know it’s bandied about a lot out on message boards, but I can honestly say this will probably be my last season – should have stopped watching on a high note with Heroes vs Villains.

  • Elizabeth

    Slezak & Averett :(

    Christmas is ruined…

  • suebrody

I can’t believe Slezak is gone. No more Idolatry? Now that I’ve decided not to watch Idol, I can’t even do so vicariously through Slezak. Bummer. :(

  • Jerri

Survivor 22 better not have Russell Troll.

Who is covering the Survivor Finale?

  • Stef

Oh my gosh what horrible news! Michael how can you leave us?!

  • Paulette

Fabio made a mistake when he, Dan and Jane didn’t vote out Holly. I did not understand why Jane voted the way she did fo someone that had immunity. Still pulling for Fabio.

  • Bibi

These podcasts are painful to listen to. Please post transcript so we can avoid the filler and stupidity. Glad to hear Jeff explain the “quitter” rule. They also should have a rule about assaulting other players.

    • lesliemd

Nice to read that Jeff explained the lquitter” rule – too bad I can’t read about it, or download from iTunes. Why is it only available via iTunes? This sucks now.
