The P.S. 22 chorus, known for its fantastic covers of pop songs, will be performing on the Oscars this year. Cue screaming! Anne Hathaway, who’s co-hosting this year’s ceremony with James Franco, stopped by the Staten Island school’s winter concert last night to surprise them with the news, and holy-moly, are these kids excited. Like ya do:
Honestly, well selected, Oscars. It’s just going to be tough when the entire nation is weeping during part of the ceremony.
In fact, I am choking up just imagining how awesome this will be. What do you hope they sing, PopWatchers? And have you thanked a music teacher today?

I have seen these kids do “Just Dance” and many other songs. I am so happy for them. Very inspiring group of kids, and a very special teacher!
I would like to see them do a mashup of the nominees for best song. Either that or backup the original singers of the nominated songs.
First off, sounds like the Oscars might be watchable this year. Second, at this time of year there is something endearing about hearing pure sounds of joy. Good luck to the kids of PS22.
i love their song selections! tomi amos, marina and the diamonds. it would be cool if they did the nomincated songs. I wonder why that little boy was covering his ears and got taken off stage. i kinda want to hug him
I hope they sing all of the nominated songs.
YOU’RE going to the Oscars! YOU’RE going to the Oscars! YOU’RE going to the Oscars!
It’s an Oprah, Jr. moment. Love it. Way excited for these kids.
haha, that;s exactly what I was thinking! It’s great to see these kids getting excited for it! Can’t wait to watch them on the Oscars stage!
Will they all get a free screening of Love and Other Drugs too?
ha ha, man I love these kids reaction. reminds me of when I was young and when we were told by our teacher that we were going to Great America. We went bonker.
Now that is what “STAR” power if for. This will be the high point of some of those kid’s life. Thanks Anne
That is pretty awesome. So excited to see them on the Oscars!
Awesome!
All of a sudden, the “Best Song” category got interesting, if only for the potential performance. Up until this point, I had been hoping there wouldn’t be a performance of those tunes! Go PS22!
you’re going to cry?
i cried trough the whole dang thing!
I’m so excited for them and their teacher. Arts in schools are awesome!
Oh heck yeah!!!! Love these kids and their choir director! FANTASTIC news for those kids!
Yeah! PS 22 Choir is FABULOUS! How exciting to close the Oscars with “SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW” !
Both of my children and I graduated from PS 22. I
Couldn’t be happier for these great, talented young students. I think the best is yet to come for them! YEAH!
