'Yogi Bear': 'Boo-Boo Kills Yogi' in a fan-made fake ending

The new Yogi Bear movie doesn’t come out until this Friday, but the definitive Yogi Bear fan video may have already arrived. Capitalizing on the fact that the 3-D animated versions of Yogi and Boo-Boo look both ridiculously cute and freakishly creepy, a savvy animator has put together a completely new, impressively real-looking sequence. Here’s the catch: As you may have guessed from the title, Boo-Boo Kills Yogi is dark. Watch below, but think twice about showing this one to anyone under 12.

The whole video is actually a near-recreation of a scene from one of my favorite movies that no one has ever heard of, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (complete with Nick Cave’s haunting soundtrack). Mashing Yogi Bear with a practically unknown indie western? My Head = Blown into space.

PopWatchers, what do you think of The Assassination of Yogi Bear by the Coward Boo-Boo Bear? Too pretentious? Are you surprised that the first Yogi Bear cowboy-movie parody on YouTube isn’t a Brokeback Mountain riff?

Looked professionally done from my viewpoint .

  • googie

    Why did I watch that!

Now this is Oscar caliber material.. oh how I wish I could see this ending on the big screen in a room full of children.. it would be hilarious

  • watergirl

surprised we didn’t see Palin shooting also…of course she would have missed. Yogi as a bear rug was the funniest part. Great job on this other ending.

        Yours? Yes. Very meta, sir.

How is Assassination of Jesse James a film “no one has heard of”? It stars Brad Pitt and was nominated for a couple Oscars. I’d say it’s on people’s radars.

    • thomes smith

      nope never heard of it

    • Nan

I agree. A great movie that starred Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck.

How is the assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford a nearly unknown western. It has Brad Pitt in it and Casey Affleck was nominated for an Oscar. People know about it, its just nobody saw it because its really long and has little action.

      Never heard of it either.

I wouldn’t call it hilarious, but it was well-made. And who hasn’t heard of “The Assassination of Jesse James”? It was a Brad Pitt movie, after all!

I just could not , excuse the pun , ” bear ” to watch it , even if it was funny , I would have hoped the filmmaker (s) picked another film parody like the forementioned Brokeback Mountain or maybe Inglourious Basterds , where BOTH Yogi Bear and Booboo hunt down and torture Ranger Smith and others who are against them . ( Yeah , I know , the violence , but better to see Yogi as conquerer , than resigned victim )

There’s no way this is fanmade. This was professionally made to attract attention to the film. The studio probably knows they have a bomb on their hands, and needed a way to get some people in the theater opening weekend.

    That was awesome! Lol.

Looks fan-made to ME. I looked at the original poster’s profile, and it seems genuine.

  • J Oh

Hey kids the ending they don’t show, so what next? Top Kat shoots Boo Boo

  • Sarah Palin

They should have gotten me for the job; I would have blown away Yogi and Boo Boo and then butchered them for meat and made rugs out of their skins.

    • parady sailin

Not well, you wouldn’t have–you’re a HACK at everything!

  • Meli

I wouldn’t call it hilarious. It’s actually quite sad, but it is brilliantly done.
