For any Capt. Jack Sparrow fans out there jonesing for a taste of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Disney has released a first batch of stills to tide you over (no pun intended) until the film hits theaters next May. The fourth installment of the Pirates franchise chronicles Johnny Depp’s Sparrow on his quest for the elusive Fountain of Youth, on which he’s joined by a woman from his past named Angelica (Penelope Cruz) whose motives are unclear. Along the way, Sparrow finds himself unwillingly taken aboard the ship of the pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane). In these photos, we get a preview of what’s new — a first look at Cruz (complete with groovy, pimp-hat-esque headwear) and McShane (looking like a heavy-metal pirate in black leather and eyeliner) — as well as Sparrow in familiar modes of being dragged by Royal Guards through King George’s palace and then escaping from said Guards atop a moving carriage.

I know it’s a Disney movie and all…but I was definitely hoping for more cleavage from Penelope Cruz.

It’ll be better, Will and Elizabeth were the most uninteresting characters in the entire first trilogy.
Who? Oh, I forgot they were in the movie, too. Honestly, their characters were done in first movie, in my opinion. The following sequels should have been the adventures of Jack and Barbossa.

Keira Knightley was great in the movies (the first two at least), but Orlando Bloom sucked. I am so glad he’s not in it.

Black Beard should look bigger and more intimedating then that. Historically, that’s what he was known for: being large and frightening and crazy. He even tied smoke bombs to his hair! This Black Beard doesn’t look menacing at all. Big dissapointment.
I genuinely didn’t know, without reading the descriptions, that the woman in the photos wasn’t Keira Knightley. Sorry Penelope Cruz, I fail.

I’m glad Will and Elizabeth aren’t back, just because their story ended really nicely and anything else would’ve been pointless. Also, Penelope’s hat alone makes me want to see this. But where’s Geoffrey Rush?

Even though I almost hated the third ‘Pirates’, I am pretty excited for this one. And that’s because of Penelope Cruz, and especially Ian McShane. That guy’s a great great actor. Oh, and no Keira and Orlando, that’s a bonus.
Very excited for this! I loved the first two, but the third one kinda sucked. I think this will be better. A fresh storyline, new characters, and no more Orlando Bloom. Kind of a rejuvenation for the series. (I’ll miss Keira a little bit though).
