First, because Emma Stone’s whole onscreen persona — bubbly, brassy, redheaded — seems like a natural fit for Spidey’s other love interest, Mary Jane. But on a grander scale, Stone’s casting was a complete break from a sainted superhero movie tradition: The actress who dyes her hair red. (See: Kirsten Dunst in the original Spider-Men, Famke Janssen in the X-Men trilogy, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow in the Iron Men…yeesh, somebody working at Marvel in the ’60s must’ve had a serious ginger fixation.) Stone (who, to be fair, is actually a natural blonde) has now unveiled her new look, and it is…well, is bang-tastic a word? No? Well, perhaps it should be. Get on it, Dictionary.com! (No, not you, Urban Dictionary.)
Even with the blonde hair, Stone still looks more like a Mary Jane than a Gwen, but I have to admit: This hairstyle looks so insane that it’s actually making me more interested in seeing the movie. What do you think, PopWatchers? First impressions? Am I the only one who finds deeply fascinating symbolic layers hidden within Emma Stone’s hair?
While she looks good, she looks 10x better as a redhead. I still probably cant picture her as Gwen, but I’m not a huge Spiderman fan anyway.
I am a big superhero fan, and I have to say that Spiderman is one of the least interesting characters, a little on the whiney side, but they Tobey Maguire films were pretty decent – there really is no reason for them to reboot the movie this soon. Watching the Social Network, I’m not sure about Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, but I think Emma Stone will do a good job as Gwen Stacey
I was upset when I found out she was going to play Gwen. I don’t think Emma is attractive at all and she looks even worse blonde.

Nah, she was popularized after Superbad, yet I’ve never seen her splashed across the tabloid pages as the newest party girl dancing on tabletops at places like Koi or Butter or Okra or whatever

What? Spider-Man is one of the least interesting characters in comics? Someone hasn’t read the Spider-Man comics themselves. He’s insanely hilarious when fighting bad guys, and he sacrifices so much of his personal life to save lives. He’s the most interesting comic book character to me, and my favorite.

She does not look good with the blonde do. The cat eyes make-up gives her the Amanda Seyfried giant eyes. I know it’s for the movie but she just looks so generic with this new look, removed of personality. I’m sure there is a good reason she originally became successful with the darker hair, it suits he skintone much better.
I think she looks great, and will be a great fit for Gwen- even the eye makeup is similar to one versio nof Gwen Stacy I’ve seen.

I personally preferred the red hair, but the blonde look works for her. The bangs are quirky and adorable. I think she’ll be a great Gwen Stacy. I disliked how Mary Jane was portrayed in the movies, so I’m sure Emma will bring new spunk to this Spiderman heroine.

She was smokin’ hot in “Zombieland” as a brunette. Still think it’s her best look.

She looks better as a red head. This shade of blond doesnt do much for her but it could be that the hair style and her make up dont help. I do think she be a better fit to play mary jane than gwen. But guess have to wait to see movie to confirm our feelings.

I agree, the style and makeup are both taking a lot from the color. I think she looks better as a redhead anyway, but this look just isn’t good.
They are making it very hard for me to resist seeing this. I really like Emma Stone, and I think her hair looks fabulous.
Bryce Dallace Howard also went from red to blonde for Spider Man 3. This isn’t so revolutionary…

I agree she is pretty no matter her hair color and I do prefer her as red head. Not thrilled about Bryce Dallas Howard in the new Spiderman movie as she was awful in Eclipse. But thats just my 2 cents.
Bryce Dallas Howard played Gwen Stacey in Spiderman 3, which she had to dye her hair blonde for. I don’t think she’s in this new movie.
The good news is that no matter how bad this movie turns out to be, it’ll still look great compared to the Broadway show!
