I love pretty much everything Back to the Future-related. I’ve lost a lot of friends over my devout belief that Back to the Future III (aka, “The Western”) is an overlooked classic, and I have fond memories of the Back to the Future cartoon that starred Doc’s awful children, Jules and Verne. So part of my can barely handle this new game trailer for the upcoming Back to the Future videogame, which lovingly recreates the look of the movies (right down to Marty’s red vest) and features the voice of Christopher Freaking Lloyd, returning to his iconic role as Doc Brown. Unfortunately, Michael J. Fox wasn’t on hand to offer his voice, although at least in the preview, replacement A.J. LoCascio gives pretty good McFly. Check out the video:
Of course, one thing this trailer doesn’t feature is any indication of, you know, how you actually play the game. Apparently, BttF: The Game is a graphic adventure that will be released in five parts on PC, Mac, PS3, and iPad. I’m always skeptical about licensed videogames that turn into “graphic adventures” (heck, I’m just plain skeptical about licensed videogames, period), but developer Telltale Games worked on the well-received Sam & Max series, so this could be a winner. What do you think, PopWatchers? Does your excitement rate in the upper or lower jigowatts?

The way I see it, if you’re gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?
Looks like I’m buying this. I am a huge fan of the movies. I remember the long agonizing wait for part 2. When I saw the trailer for part 2 in the theater everyone clapped and cheered. This is really awesome. Can’t wait.
This is heavy.
weight has nothing to do with it!
Why are things so heavy in the future. Is there a problem with the Earth’s gravitational pull?
I love bein a geek
The-the-the bruise – the bruise on your head. I know how that happened! You told me the whole story. You were standing on your toilet, and you were hanging a clock, and you fell, and you hit your head on the sink. And that’s when you came up with the idea for the Flux Capacitor… which… is what makes time travel possible.
It’s spelled gigawatt, not jigowatt. It’s just a wrong pronunciation in the films that is much more amusing than the actual pronunciation.
Telltale Games are EXCELLENT. The Sam & Max games are fantastic, and the new Monkey Island game they did recently is at least as good as the originals. Most of the developers are folks from LucasArts games from their heyday; these people KNOW adventure games.
Skeptical about licensed videogames that turn into graphic adventures? How many have there even been? Off the top of my head, the only licensed graphic adventure I can think of is Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and that’s a classic.
If you want to know how the BTTF game will play, try the demos of TellTales other graphic adventure games (Sam and Max season 3 would be the best bet, because it’s newer & therefore represents TellTales most evolved adventure up to now).
Why couldn’t Michael J Fox do Marty? He did Stuart Little….why not this?
Because Stuart Little was over 10 years ago, and Parkinson’s gets worse with time. He hasn’t been doing a whole lot of acting these days.
Back to the Future III IS an overlooked classic. It’s a very good film and brave, both for being a western and for shifting focus to the “old” Doc Brown & Clara Clayton.
You’re not thinking 4th dimensionaly……
i’m a huge fan of back to the future and i even have a welly 1/2 scale model of the delorean from back to the future 2 i can’t wait for the game i’m so excited and i can’t wait to buy all of them !!!!!!!…
