I admit that I watched “Skating with Celebrities” years ago, mostly because I was a fan of the pro skaters. This time around, while I knew the celebrities, I didn’t know any of the skaters and wasn’t interested. However, my daughter and I watched last night and were not impressed. She watches “Sonny with a Chance” and wanted to see Brandon Mychal Smith, but was unimpressed with the rest of them. Her comment about Bethenny–whom she’d never heard of–cracked me up: “She looks like she’s had a little too much plastic surgery. Of course she’s smiling–it’s the only facial expression she can make!” We decided that the best thing to do would be to watch individual performances online and skip the rest, if we can bring ourselves to even care that much.
SWTS is doomed! A 1.2 rating this week, 5th in its time slot, and it lost half of its audience from week one(and other networks were showing re-runs). ABC do us all a favor and go ahead and pull the plug. Note to ABC, in the future, please do not subject your viewers to any more of the creepy Johnny Weir.

The only thing that could possibly save this show is to include Evan Lysacek in some capacity. Evan is an excellent skater, has a sarcasticly funny peronality and is extremely easy on the eyes….in other words Evan is HOT enough to melt the ice and boost the ratings.
The ONLY reason I watch this program is for the host Vernon Kay. Love love love him both on radio and tv. The American viewers need to get with it! Vernon Rocks!! ‘ave it!
It’s like a Saturday Night Live parody.
I can’t watch. I just feel bad for the “stars” because it’s obvious you can’t do real entertaining skating after 6 weeks, and I feel bad that they are being critiqued by such a strange, cookoo judging panel. Bring on the real skating, where there are no Laurie Ann Gibsons, and Johnny Weir is competing, not judging.
All you haters need to calm down. This is a fun show!
You’ve got hopeless skaters like Sean, Vince, and Bethanney for comedic value.
Then you have good skaters like Jonny, Rebecca, and Brandon to make it a real competition.
It’s as if the haters have completely forgotten all of the cheesy unfunny filler that DWTS forces into the show. How many times can Tom Bergeron yell “FIRST EVER” per show? Horrible comedy bits. SWTS doesn’t bother with that, and people talk like DWTS is great art.
Dear Annie- You’ve done such inspiring yeoman duty with DWTS (ADORE those hidden gems!)
Sigh- it’s so much to ask of you to do this-asking for a recap would be unkind. However, would you kindly keep looking for hidden gems and riduculata in SWTS?- it would make me happy (and we kinda need the laughs at our house right now- your humor is tonic to us!)
This show is a disaster! From the judges to Vernon–who is the worst.Judges cant even agree. Will definitely not watch it IF IT OMES BACK!!!
This is the worst tv show I have eve witnessed. The judges wee disgusting and the EMCEE-Vernon-ugh! Don’t embarrass yourselves by coming back.
