Even though he’s helped set sales records with his infectious rendition of “Teenage Dream,” new Glee dreamboat Darren Criss is still just a regular guy who likes to belt out a nice Disney tune every now and then. Criss treated patrons of L.A.’s The Grove shopping mall to an impromptu concert yesterday, covering “Part of Your World,” from “one of [his] favorite movies of all time,” The Little Mermaid. Kudos to Criss for appropriately making this a collaborative affair — “What’s that word again?” — with his very enthusiastic audience. Do I smell a Glee Disney episode?

‘Glee’ song preview: Darren Criss is a Teenage Dream

Love his version of this song. I hope he has a really good agent. With the Glee exposure he has potential to really break out big time… Best of luck to him, he seems like a nice guy.
Teenage Dream is an awful song. He did it better than Katy Perry but that is not saying much.
nice voice, but terrible version of that song. what a lame perfomer. if he had a good song, he’d be great.
I am in love with this guy.
Awesome. And yet the way Disney is, they’ll probably demand that YouTube yank this for copyright violation.
he’s had his own version of this on YouTube for years. you can still find it if you look.
Yeah, Darren’s YouTube vids of him covering Disney songs have been popular even before AVPM blew up in views. His doing this song in a mini solo concert has nothing to do with Glee (except for the fact that he was getting interviewed by Mario Lopez b/c of Glee)
There are two copyrights involved in most songs. First, there’s a copyright on the words and music, and second, there’s a copyright on the sound recording. Copyright law treats them differently… the copyright on the words and music includes a mandatory licensing scheme… if the song is covered by another performer, they have to pay royalties, but can’t be blocked from performing the song.
Look at all those girls who want to jump his bones!
I feel like a Disney-theme Glee episode could either be really good or be a total fail. P.S. He is HOT!!
He may not be Jon Hamm (aka the real life Prince Eric) but you can just tell millions of teenage girls fainted while watching this.
And maybe some boys!
That would be me!
Prince Eric in the Original Little Mermaid movie was voiced by Christoper Daniel Barnes not Jon Hamm he might have did the next movie or the cartoon show, but not the original movie.
It is a 30 Rock joke about how much Jon Hamm looks like Prince Eric.
*might have DONE. Yeesh.
Christopher Daniel Barnes played the voice of Prince Eric in the Little Mermaid, not Jon Hamm. Don’t know where you got your facdts from.
Darren is unbelievably talented and I absolutely adore Disney and the songs from its animated features, but if I have to sit through another theme episode of Glee, I will be prone to violence!
There’s a version of Teenage Dream from this same appearance up on Youtube as well. Sounds amazing without all the auto-tuned weirdness they added to make it sound like the original song.
Set list for Disney Glee (in my dreams):
Rachel gets to play Ariel with legs (silent)
Kurt and Kurt’s dad: “No Matter What” from Beauty and the Beast stage version
Puck: “Why Should I Worry” from Oliver and Company
Sue: “Be Prepared” from Lion King
Beiste: “I’ll Make a Man out of You” from Mulan
Oh my gosh heather that is hysterical! I loave the beiste and sue suggestions — absolutely perfect…
*love
thanks rori — I’m sure there are others too, but I figured Beiste needs a solo
I can already hear Sue singing Be Prepared and Puck singing Why Should I Worry! I hope Ryan Murphy reads EW comments! ;-D

Does Glee air on ABC? That’s your answer.
I believe that Fox (American Idol) has ties to Disney.
although, Glee does not air in Disney broadcasted ABC, The Office did have a “Glee-centric” episode, and that show was on NBC.
But we’re talking about Disney letting someone else use their material. Seems unlikely. Then again, Extra is WB, so maybe I’m wrong.
@Peter, My thought’s exactly
thoughts, even
“But in the muggle world I’m just a… something…well something called a douche bag. I play guitar when everyone just wants to hang out. And make weird covers of Disney songs. Who does that?”
Yes! AVPS FTW!
omg omg omg omg YES!
Harry Freakin Potter, that’s who!
Very nice reference to AVPS!!
Agreed! That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this video. Starkid!
I was going to write the same thing! “A douche bag, Herman.” Love all his Disney covers, but I think I like Duck Tales the most!
YES!!! “What’s your favorite way to say ‘red wines’ in a German accent?”
Because of Darren Criss the whole world now knows that Winnipeg is in Canada. LOL.
he’s like jessie Mccartney’s douche….
I freaking love this boy so much. This version of Part of Your World is fantastic. It’s pretty much just making me want to hear him cover every Disney song ever made.
If you search on youtube and around the web you’ll find a lot of Darren’s Disney covers. He sings Belle, Ducktales, Reflection, and A Whole New World to name a few.
lol…I didn’t notice that I was responding to another Jenna.
Don’t forget his cover of “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You”! That’s the best! “I listen to this when I’m workin’ out…” I <3 Darren soooooo much!
a disney episode of glee – or even playing some disney classic songs in an episode – is so necessary
I love Darren Criss, and I hope that Glee helps make him a huge star! He is super talented, and seems so grounded and just always looks like he is enjoying himself, and just happy to be doing what he does.
I would happily pay 99¢ for a studio cover of this song by Criss.
My glee pandora station always plays disney songs, it’s my favorite station.
