Exactly! We will never find another Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood if this voting format doesn’t change! The little teens clogging the phone lines have contributed to the slow demise of Idol. Do it like Dancing With the Stars: you only get so many votes per phone line. What’s so hard about that?
Videos? It means less live performances, right? I don’t know, it could go either way. But if there are no semifinals, what’s there instead? More stupid B.S. from those who didn’t get to the finals? I wish they stopped showing so many “happy moments” and other fillers and more actual singing.

I love how Simon leaves to bring X-Factor here to the US… and now after he leaves they reformat the show with a striking resemblance to X-Factor…
Couldn’t care less about any of the changes, except that Simon Cowell is gone. That one change may be the sinking of the Idol ship.
Kelly Clarkson was the best thing to come out of American Idol. I don’t think any season can be better than season one.

I have never missed one episode in 9 years of idol, so I do know alittle bit about the show. I love kelly,david cook and carrie, have all thier cd’s, but NO One compares to Adam Lambert. He has it ALL- vocals, stage presence, intelligent, funny and a sweet-heart of a guy. He is in a leaque of his own, this show will never find anyone like him again. I’ll still watch next year and I’m forever grateful to idol for finding the one and only Adam.
A few of my fav shows are on thursday so its possible I wont be watching Idol then and will be looking for the recap online to find results. Plus who wants to watch an hour long results show. Thats way too long. Stick with the 30 mins. And Idol taking more control is stupid… they are shooting themseleves in foot. We should be to vote on the final 24.
The one hour results shows are the worst!! I don’t care about seeing pre-recorded lip synched current artists on American Idol. The show is to discover NEW talent and the filler is so irritating. I guess TPTB are going back on the promise of no more 2 hr episodes as well. Thursday nights are still pretty strong for the other major networks. I can’t imagine the result show doing too well on that evening. Forming the top 12 was also a huge deal for the fans and voters of the show. There was so much controversy this past season when 3 people (Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly, and Alex Lambert) were voted off that without such discussion, Season 9 would have had zero buzz. It really does feel like the “you vote, you decide” feature of the show is dwindling away.
I think almost all the idols were good in their genre, as for the instruments, they should limit them. I think they are trying to find the one person who can perform with or without them and the vedios they are looking for someone who is creative too. I love David Cook, but when I went to his concert, it was kinda boreing, he didn’t interact with his fans, they just played and left. Yet I went to a Clay Aiken concert and it was fantastic, he talked to the fans he danced he did comedey, he only sang a couple of his songs, he sang songs from the 30′s up to rap. He had his audience rolling and when it was over people were saying, and i agree it was the best concert ever, and we all had a new respect for the man. He was just the runner up! There has been amazing talent that has come from that show, it would be boring if were the same each season, so lets check out the changes before we judge. we will miss simon, but give it a chance.
Raise the age of the artists to at least 18. KEEP the instruments…they have added enormous quality to the show.
Vote OFF the worst instead of who you think is the best.
American Idol has been a singing competition not instrumental. So sometimes the instruments take away from their singing abilities. I always enjoyed the results night, it made it more exciting. The show day doesn’t matter to me. I like watching it.
