A great night for Fox, a bad one for Brandy: Fox led on Tuesday among adults 18-49 (3.6 rating/10 share) thanks to a much-anticipated appearance by Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee, according to preliminary results. The network also took the night among adults 18-34 and teens.
Glee earned a 4.9/14 in the demo — up 7 percent from last week’s telecast. It averaged 11.6 million viewers. Such a swell lead-in was a boon to Raising Hope, which earned a 2.7/7 — up 8 percent versus last week – and attracted 6.1 million. The network aired a repeat of the comedy at 9:30, which earned a 1.8/5. Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million.
CBS was second in the adult demo with a 3.1/9, with the always strong NCIS earning a 3.9/11 and averaging 19.3 million. NCIS: Los Angeles earned a 3.3/9 and 15.7 million viewers, followed by The Good Wife (2.2/6, 11.6 million).
NBC was third for the night in the demo (2.3/6) because of a totally average performance by The Biggest Loser (2.5/7, up 4%). It lured 6.9 million. Parenthood (1.8/5) delivered its lowest rating ever, down — 14 percent from last week’s episode, and averaged 4.7 million. ABC was fourth in the demo with a 2.2/6, with No Ordinary Family posting its lowest rating to date (1.7/5, 6.6 million). Dancing with the Stars - which sent Brandy packing – earned a 3.3/9 and 17.2 million. Detroit 1-8-7 got a 1.8/5 and 8.3 million.
On the CW, One Tree Hill lured its biggest audience since Oct. 5 (1.9 million) and was up 20 percent versus last week in adults 18-34. Life Unexpected attracted 1.3 million.
In the total viewer race, CBS won the night with 15.6 million, followed by ABC (10.7 million), Fox (8.3 million), NBC (6.1 million, and the CW (1.6 million). Oh, and just so you know – Univision beat the CW again with 4 million viewers.
