'Doctor Who' and 'Sherlock' DVD giveaway

Filed under: Television, TV and tagged: , ,

Maybe it’s the accents? Driving on the other side of the road? Or maybe just the fact that they can use words like “bloody” and “bollocks”? Whatever the reason, there are plenty of foreign television series that have us hooked. But enough about us, we want to know which ones you can’t get enough of! So let’s hear it, PopWatchers: What’s your favorite TV import?

To get your fix of your favorite British shows, we’re giving away 10 copies of Doctor Who: Season 5 and Sherlock: Season 1 (just in time for the holidays!). The DVDs are courtesy of BBC Home Video and are available while supplies last.

Want to win? Here’s how to enter:

1. Go to our Facebook page.

2. Click “Like” at the top of the page

3. Find the post on our Wall announcing the giveaway, click Comment, and tell us which foreign (non-U.S.) television series is your favorite, and why. (Note: Commenting on this post won’t enter you in the giveaway; see the official rules after the jump.)

4. If you’re a winner, we’ll contact you via Facebook message to request your mailing address.

The giveaway starts NOW!

Why the hell do I need to be 21 to enter?

    • Carla

      Yeah, really?!?

TVbtNumbers gave away autographed Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski footwear just for liking their facebook page and making a comment for the shoes, picked at random. EW holds a raffle for only the first 10 people that post, with more disclaimer than my apartment lease. Edge: TVbtN

I agree completely. I’ve entered sometimes seconds after the contest is posted and although the prize is not R-rated, I am not even acknowledged. It’s ridiculous!

    • Crystal

DVD’s come with a Pimm’s cup cocktail (that’s the only British cocktail I could think of).

    • Unnamed Writer

I’m more irritated that it is only for Facebook users.

  • firbette

My favourite import is actually Slings and Arrows, but that’s from Canada. Sherlock really blew me away, but my hearts will always belong to the Doctor.

  • Maggie

    Oh no! I’m # 11 :(

  • Crystal

    already bought my Sherlock DVD!!

  • holly

Benedict Cumberbatch is the best actor in the world

  • anonymous

You should change the contest to allow non-facebook users to enter. Some of us hate social networking, but love Doctor Who!

  • Tony Northrup

I’ve enjoyed this show for a few years now & I think even tho all the Dr. are great in their own way, David Tennant was & always will be the best. This show is great storytelling & makes watching Scifi fun again.

  • sarah

wtf is with this first 10 rule? can’t you randomly choose winners or something to give most of us a fighting chance?

    • Meredith44

      THIS!!!!!!!!!

  • MelindaB

Completely unrelated to the contest–which I agree is bogus, only taking the first 10 comments, because it requires people to be at their computer when the contest is posted–but is anyone else having issues with the “Blogs” button above not doing anything? I can only get back to PopWatch by hitting “back” or some other convoluted way.

  • Otis

Huge PHISHING scam in the making. Dumb, dumb, dumb protocol.

  • Fingerlakes Dave

Why do I have to be part of Facebook?

    • jen

      Amen.

  • Fingerlakes Dave

Oh, and what’s this stupid toolbar I neither want, nor asked for, when I’m on this site?

    • anne

      yes. very annoying indeed.

  • AB

total scam to get you to enter to win, I won’t contaminate my computer with that crap, but I LOVE Dr. Who, and Sherlock! Also the underappreciated but totally awesome “Being Human”! Check it out if you like shows from the BBC!

  • Deborah

What about those of use who do not belong to–and don’t want to join–Facebook? Shouldn’t we beable to participate?

  • Jeanie Julian

Jeanie Julian Dr Who hands down Sherlock can not touch The Dr. if not other reason than those damn Angels-crazy bad. It has been a long time since I have been scared of a show-the Angels did it for me Dr Who is #1 all the way!!!
