Either Madonna has matured or she’s full of it. I’ll never forget that scene in Truth or Dare where she’s laughing and snickering over the fact that one of her female assistants was sodomized/raped the night before. The poor girl had been drugged and woke up bleeding and in pain. I found it appalling years ago and I would like to see an apology from Madonna. We all do stupid things when we’re young, but her lack of sensitivity towards one of her staff members still leaves me to doubt much of what she has to say over things like this.
That was 20 years ago, of course she has changed.
It is easy to criticize & be snarky from behind your computer, however, she is right. It is a hard exercise to put yourself through and by-standers need to be more aggressive to prevent the spread of hurtful gossip which can lead to bullying. I find that youth today are so able to jump in to help create peace in the world – well why not start with your classroom, then school, then community….WORDS CAN HURT! BE KIND!
Well why not start at home? Words only hurt if you let them hurt you.
Last year there was a letter and assembly about bullying at my kids’ school. It has become a huge problem because a large percentage of parents aren’t parenting anymore. They send their kids to daycare, school, after school care, sports, and other activities and expect the teachers, coaches, caregivers to raise their children. So you have a lot of children who are showing aggression to get attention, who are emotionally underdeveloped, who just want to be loved and feel there must be something wrong with them because their parents don’t want to be with them. It’s very sad. and I feel sorry for them.
Go Madonna and Go Ellen. Let’s talk about this. We need to love and support all our youth. And gays need support from everybody all around the world! Stop the discrimination NOW!
Gosh most of you people are a either scarily cynical or cannot fathom a world where you are not allowed to gossip. Grow up, be nice.
Bullying is nothing new, suicides due to bullying is nothing new either. Its just now national news worthy. This stuff has been embedded in our culture, tons of movies and books have these topics in them dating back decades even centuries for literature. The cure for bullying, however, has been known since bullying began. Bullies only pick on easy targets, so stop being an easy target. Man up or woman up and stand your ground fight back, the bullying will stop. It worked for me.
