I think this whole situation has truly gotten out of hand because of a very important point Mr. vary makes – the media has gotten a hold of it. Jokes in incredibly bad taste have been around forever, bullying against all types of people has been around forever, outrage against any sort of racism has been around forever, so why is this such a hot-button topic? Because the 24-hour news media has to fill those 24 hours, and they make mountains out of molehills. Stop listening to the hype and make up your own mind about these situations. I personally haven’t watched the trailer, and I won’t be going to the movie. That’s my choice based on my own feelings, not because someone tells me it’s good or bad. I am sick and tired of this whole “GAY” issue. Who gives a flying Blank – Everyone is getting so bananas on comments that the Politcally correct world is getting too nuts – what happend to that movie “Gay Divocie” or Gay old time – you not going to be able to say that too – enough of this just move on and have a GAY OLD TIME
I think Ron Howard needs more derogatory ginger jokes in his movies, and maybe he would get it a little more. But as a rich, white, straight Christian man he has no understanding of what minorities and women deal with. Eat me Ron, I hope your children recognize what a shame their father is.
I’m gay and don’t see a problem with the joke. It’s kinda lame actually. Any gays who do have problems with the joke need to LIGHTEN UP. Or better yet, DON’T SEE THE MOVIE! duh.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not the joke was funny? Why/why not? If Ron Howard had expressed offense over “White Men Can’t Jump” would you care about him?
