Who cares what the ‘ladies’ of The View think? After their walkout last week, they are a joke!I don’t want to watch a talk show that is not professional. This scripted show should be taken off the air…..immediately!

I do think it’s kind of gross to portray a high-schooler that way in pics. It’s illegal to have sex with someone underage so it’s kind of weird to dress her up and look at her underwear.

Actually, the age of consent varies by state. In some states it’s 18; some states, 16; in some states it’s 14 as long as neither party is more than 4 years older than the other. But transporting them across state lines for a more-favorable consent-age is a violation all its own (the Mann Act, if I recall correctly).

The ‘appear’ tough-on-crime legislators pandering to the puritans have made a mess of most states’ bodies of law. Heck, in some states it’s not only illegal to have sex with a second cousin or closer (third degree consanguinity), but it’s considered criminal-sexual-conduct misdemeanor (which will get you on the sex offender registry for 15 years or more) to have sex with your spouse’s second cousin (third degree affinity) or closer, too. :-)

If it’s wrong/weird to look at women in their underwear, why aren’t frederick’s and victoria’s secret catalogs illegal?

Why is this such a big deal all of a sudden? People always make such a big deal of protecting childrens’ innocence, but I’m pretty sure kids see this kind of thing on a regular basis- and they have forever! If you’re at the store with your kid, then just don’t let them look at the pictures if you don’t want them to! If your kid is at the store alone, chances are they’re old enough to decide what to look at- for better or worse. If kids want to see something, they’ll find a way. Look at all the attention these pics have already gotten- TV and internet exposure. They may have slipped under the radar were it not for all this “controversy”, but thanks to all this criticism and discussion, now your kids are pretty much guaranteed to see them.

I watch Glee, but I don’t even know what magazine these pictures are in- I cringe when I see “sexy” pictures of my 19 year old daughter (who is gorgeous) but that’s because I still think of her as my baby girl- the pictures are meant to be provocative -mission accomplished

I think it’s hard to argue with either side. A photo spread presenting sexed-up teenagers is creepy and seems to encourage sexualizing young girls. But, these adult girls (and GQ) of course have a right to do what they want.

Glee might have been wise to make this kind of thing off-limits in their contracts. Because the one thing that’s clear to me is that this hails the beginning of the end of Glee. It’s a very familiar pattern: cast members of family friendly show get tired of being “typed” as young and cleancut, so they do some publicity to sex up their image. Show’s downward slide starts soon after (remember Jessica Biel on Seventh Heaven anyone??).

You know what’s funny on August 1, 2010 Lea Michele posed for Mark Tea, and she was wearing a completely see through shirt and nobody complain about that. It’s GQ which is a Men’s Mag.. She was no worse then a Bikini at the beach. Get over it.

I don’t mean to burst anyone’s bubble, but GLEE’s target audience are the gays. Lady Gaga? Brittany? come on. Also, we don’t care how skanky they dressed. WHY WASN’Y CORY MONTEITH OBJECTIFIED?!

  • A.J.

ahem….*wasn’t*. I got a little carried away there

its still gross that grown men are getting off on the oversexualized depictions of high school girls. but more importantly, why are only the girls sexualized??? damn patriarchy

    • Darr247

You mean like in Cosmo or Playgirl?

Does it make you throw up a little in your mouth when Jane Krakowski is crying ’cause her pool guy left and her friends try to cheer her up with some juice?

She does stop (just) short of asking the shirtless kid that shows up next to plow her garden… on camera, anyway.

Why is everyone so politically correct? Objectifying women. Whatever. I bet it’s just ugly, sad women who wished men looked at them and thought they looked good. This has nothing to do with ‘children’s minds being corrupted’. It has to do with others lack of self-esteem as well as their lack of parenting skills.
I don’t see a problem with the Glee cast doing this. If it made them feel good doing it, then it shouldn’t be anybody’s issue. I hate these talk shows about women who pretend they have an opinion about things in society when in reality they just sound like bitchy, dumb women who aren’t open to any form opinion other than their own. What is it to the rest of the world what others do. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! DON”T LIKE IT DON”T BUY THE MAGAZINE!
I bet you half the people commenting on this thread haven’t even seen the magazine at all. They just want to make a big deal and pretend they are making a difference in the world by “stopping bad adults giving a wrong message to our young innocent kids”. This is what’s corrputing your kids- your lack of parenting skills.

This is disgusting. I’m a male, and find women portraying a young teenage girl holding a lollipop playing with hair in panties with her legs spread about … DISGUSTING.

When did we, as a society, think that it is ok to sexualise 13 and 14 year old girls (and younger). I couldn’t care less how old this girl is in REALITY. On glee, she plays a teenager, and in this photo she plays a YOUNG teenager.

    SICK.

That’s what people are missing. I don’t care that they dress in a provocative manner. I care that they are doing it portrayed as teenagers.
Basically it appears to be applauding lusting after your teenage babysitter, or your teenage daughters’ friends. I would not want any man around my children who enjoyed this kind of thing.
Now if it portrayed them as adults, with the same skimpy clothing, I wouldn’t even bother to comment. Dress them as adults and it wouldn’t matter at all.

Guess Couric and Company missed the last new episode when two female characters were making out in their cheerleading uniforms. Or over-looked the fact that Lea Michelle was in Spring Awakening at 16 … idiots.

  • newbie

i think what we have here is a depressed woman who likes to pose like a porn star, stick her butt in the air, and simulate oral sex with a lollipop. Where’s her rubber man? Stupid, moron, idiots…
