Project Runway is down to the final three contestants, but while it looks like Mondo has the title all but wrapped up, is there a chance he might actually lose to Andy or Gretchen? Our resident Runway expert, Missy Schwartz, has seen the final collections, and joins the TV Insiders (Michael Slezak, Michael Ausiello, Annie Barrett and yours truly) to talk all about it on our latest TV Insiders podcast. Could there be an upset in the making, or is it Mondo all the way? Also on the menu this week: Entertainment Weekly critic Ken Tucker pops by to give us his pick for the best show on TV. Could it be The Good Wife? Modern Family? Or is there a dark horse in the mix? He also gets into a deliciously nasty spat with Ausiello over his pick for biggest TV disappointment this season. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! Plus, Slezak eats serious crow for last week’s fearless (and foolhardy) Dancing With The Stars prediction, and we contemplate how in the name of the Medallion of Power Marty managed to not get voted off of Survivor: Nicaragua. All that and more (Mad Men! Glee! Raising Hope!) on the latest edition of the TV Insiders. Either download the mp3 file here to listen on the go, or click on the video player below (after the jump). And if you’d like to have your TV question addressed and answered on the next edition, just tweet it to @EWDaltonRoss.

So sad to see micheal C leave…wanted ivys hateful ass to blood boil when his garments walkd down runway
Oh god what a crybaby. I’m glad he was kicked off.
I’ll take the crybaby over the evil witch
Ding dong the Witch has won..
Kors is Jealous
Nina has not taste
Gretchen was a bad issue of Marie Clare Mondo is Vogue all the way.. small small tiny minds have ruined the show..
not a fan of his but i will take him over gretchen ANYDAY. her collection was beyond boring!
Me too, her collection is horrid. Those MC Hammer pants? ugh. I loved Michael’s dresses and the only problem I could see was the monotone color
I haaaaaate Gretchen’s collection with a passion. I am devastated that she is honestly a contender, and a could seriously win over Mondo. Ridiculous.
Gretchen’s clothes look like they came right out of the 80s.
Yes! If I actually saw anyone out wearing any of the trash that Gretchen wears down the runway I would have to work really hard at not laughing in their face. Unless they were old enough to have worn that crap in the 80s and then I’d assume they had gone senile. Because even in the 80s a lot of those silhouettes were for the older crowd. No one would EVER wear any of that. It’s dreadful.
Wretchen’s collection belonged in the trashbin. I wouldn’t even send that junk to Good Will. The the bleep was wrong with the judges eyes this season?
I doubt even Goodwill would take Gretchen’s godawful clothes.
I laughed out loud when the judges called Gretchen’s looks “granola” because that was exactly what I was thinking! Horrible fabrics, terrible colors, bad design…YUCK! I couldn’t believe she was the second person safe. Michael C’s collection, except for the colors, was so superior to Gretchen’s. Mondo for the win! Andy in 2nd place.
I couldn’t believe Heidi commented positively on the supposed interesting back detail of her romper dress; more like butt hammock! Yikes. I have never been a fan of grungy, hippy, earthy clothes. Maybe if she did something new and different w/ that concept rather than rehash rompers and hammer pants…
I call her Wretchen.
Gretchen’s collection was HORRID. HORRID. Terrible. Andy had luck because his stuff wasn’t that good either.
Michael C belonged on Fashion Week. I loved that guy since day 1. I hope Mondo takes it all.
And three pairs of granny panties in her collection. Whe the h*ll would wear those out in public?
Gretchen’s clothes were k-mart clothes. Do you think the producers were afraid of being accused of sexism if a female wasn’t in the final 3? Although I don’t think Michael would win in the end, Gretchen’s stuff is not runway quality. I’ll be one of those people who say they’re not watching the finale.
Sexism? Have they been worried about it all the seasons when a male won? How many women have won PR?
They’ve had an all-female final three before, so I doubt they’d mind an all-male final three. In the judges’ defense, it is hard to choose who should go to fashion week based on only 3 looks. If they want to eliminate the fourth person, they should really see the whole line before making the call. Otherwise, just let there be three finalists at the end of the regular season and skip the added drama/tears at this point in the game.
The Women that won:
Chloe – season 2
Laura(?) – Season 5
Meana Irina – season 6
The Men that won:
Jay – Season 1
Jeffrey – Season 3
Christian – Season 4
Seth Aaron – Season 7
I so agree. It was awful watching them emotionally bully Michael. I really liked him and I hope some clothing design place will hire him, He is talented.
I think some of that mean bullying that Michael had to endure, was so unpleasant to watch. The pain at the end was written on his face and I understand his reaction. He went through so much and then to have Gretchen (big time bully of Michael at the beginning) beat him out was too sad for words.
Yes, then to see Gretchen hug him and tell her that she “loves” him was hard to watch.. I can’t stand this chic and her clothes are anything BUT high-fashion!
Gee… where have a heard a TV PODCAST in this exact format before… hmmmm…
The talent level was not up to snuff this year and the challenges were not so great either. The poor judging made it the perfect storm of crapppppp
where is boardwalk empire recap??? just because it doesnt fit the lowest denominator of what u factor as entertainment doesnt mean it can’t get love!!! pff yet u have time for articles about jersey shore, dancing with the stars and project runway reallyyyy…
Agreed, I love me some boardwalk empire
Michael Costello is the Charlie Brown of Project Runway. So sad he won’t be officially competing
I would have hated to see how much crying Michael would be doing if he got to Bryant park and lost.
If he went to Bryant Park he’d be all alone . . .
LOL…that was funny. Not sure too many people got it though!!
HA! Well, there might be a few people having lunch and a streetperson asking for change.
Because we are all idiots except you two.
I thought the same thing…he would have been devastated to lose no matter what. I’m a big fan of Michael C., and I really hope he can learn to be proud of himself and his career no matter what anyone else thinks (even his family).
Um, how do I get a job at EW? No seriously. Like you don’t even have to pay me, I pretty much just want to like bedazzle something with Annie and like, find exotic smurfs for Michael all day.
SAME! It would be a lot better than my current job-that stupidly (like George’s job on Seinfeld) gave me a promotion that required me to actually do work. I don’t even have time to play Snood!
Agreed!
Working for EW must be like attending the perpetual Algonquin Round Table of the Noughties (we REALLY need another tem for this decade).
If not work there, could you find space to have an audience for this? I would go…..
The only problem with these podcasts is that I’m ruined for the rest of the day. I’ve seen the job I want and I’ve heard the voices of the people I want to work/debate with. And then I remember that I’m not an EW writer and I have to go back to my job search.
Yeah, job searching has been cutting into my EW and PR time too.
“How dare she in general” Classic!
Best Show (now that “Mad Men is on hiatus): Fringe or Cougar Town (yeah, I WENT THERE)
Most Disappointing Season: Glee
Loving the new podcast EW! It’s a great throwback to the great TV Guide Talk podcast Ausiello and co. used to do back when he worked for TV Guide. It was so full of energy, double entendres, and simply great discussions. This podcast has a really similar vibe and even though it’s not exactly the same, it still manages to entertain me week after week. I just wish it was just a little bit longer even though it seems that the episodes have become progressively longer over time and that you would post them on iTunes so that it would be easier for us to put on our iPods. Keep up the good work.
I love the podcast too. But i want to know why Raising Hope and Fringe are not on the recap list when you all say they are your favourites? Maybe you should hire me and I’ll recap them for you.
Nothing beats The Good Wife!! Except maybe Fringe.
there is something wrong with gronola when grentchen is mixing it.
yes, i’m LOVING the Good Wife more than ever, a show that manages to hit the perfect note every week. ugh, it even got me to watch CBS, that along makes me feel like thirty years older.
Other weekly appointments: Fringe, Community, Cougar Town. I’m surprised how almost all the sophomore shows this year are not missing a beat at all!
yay for community!!! my only appointment tv this year.
Fringe, Community and Supernatural are my must see tv. I like Parenthood but it needs to be on a different night, the Good Wife is killing it.
Nina isn’t really the judge who has been harboring love for Gretchen. Nina’s a Mondo fan above all else. It’s really Heidi who still loves Gretchen. Michael Kors was a big Michael Costello fan until now, and Andy just seems to be a general judge favorite. But then again, so is Mondo. He’s got it all sewn up.
And thank you, Ken Tucker, for highlighting The Good Wife as being the best show on-air right now! It’s a phenomenal show and one that is just as worthy of everyone’s attention as a high-profile show like Mad Men. It’s got something for everyone, is superbly acted and written, and gets better every week. Truly engrossing.
Apparently, none of the quorum is home on Friday nights. The best new show with the best cast and scripts is “Blue Blood”. I have NEVER like Julienne Margolies in ANYTHING. They must keep her in makeup for six hours to cover up all the flaws and freckles and use s steam iron to keep the kink out of her hair. The only thing missing in ‘The Good Wife’ is the soap commercials. The biggest mistake on “Project Runway” was letting Chris go. If you read his resume, he styles clothes for a number of retail outlets and is quite successful…much better tnan Michael, who knows how to drape. Gretchen should be styling for KMart. Mondo’s clothes remind me of psychedelic schizophrenia…plaids with stripes with check marks all running in opposite directions. No woman would wear his dresses twice as they would be too memorable.
Wow you sound bitter. JULIANNA MARGULIES is a great actress and The Good Wife is absolutely one of the best shows on tv. Alan Cumming is brilliant. And what does the makeup chair or her hair have to do with anything? Oh it doesn’t…that’s right. Just you taking a cheap shot at someone who makes more money than you and likely has a better life than you. It must suck to be that bitter.
Awww. I think Steve needs a hug. Go for it, Sarah, cuz I sure as hell ain’t touchin’ him.
Oh Michael C. You made such a fool of yourself. Everybody knows there is no crying in fashion. Sigh!
it wasn’t about fashion, it was about facing his parents, who don’t approve of his life. He has no support-sad.
Well, his parents will surely be proud now. My two year old acts better than he did.
C’mon, Bob, he was devastasted. And he should have been one of the final three – Andy’s bikini was lame.
Yeah Michael C claims his parents never supported him but people pointed out an article from what last year or the year before saying his dad BOUGHT him a dress shop when he was 15. That’s not something that a parent does when they don’t support your dreams. Maybe they were/are reconciling with his sexual orientation, which is undoubtedly sad, but he acted like they never did anything for him.
Michael did not make a fool of himself by crying…He was most likely crying because he is a far better designer than some who will be in the finals. Mondo might make it as a designer for the super rich.. Gretchen I could picture having her own line for J.C. Penney, she could not do high fashion, she isn’t that talented..As for Andy….He will end up working for a prominent designer, in a non design capacity. In the long run though, Michael will be the most commercially successful designer.
Michael did not make a fool of himself. He had a break down who wouldn’t did you see Gretchen’s collection CHEAP SUBURBAN TRAIL MIX SLOP. Anyone in their right mind would have thought they would beat her.
That crap is too ugly for suburbia – I know that everyone I know can’t stand it.
CHEAP SUBURBAN TRAIL MIX SLOP, I never heard it put so well!!
