Yes, Gilmore Girls fans, Lauren Graham really does talk that fast. As anyone who’s even caught a single episode of the seven-season The WB/CW dramedy can tell you, Graham and co-star Alexis Bledel had to deliver some seriously rapid-fire dialogue as mother and daughter Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. Turns out, Graham is a bit of a fast-talker in real life, too. That could’ve just been nerves, of course: EW’s shoot was last February, before Graham’s new NBC series Parenthood had premiered, and the actress clearly had the show’s debut on her mind. Or Graham could’ve just been inspired by meeting up with her TV daughter Bledel, who will appear next spring in director Robert Redford’s Lincoln assassination drama The Conspirator.
Whatever the reason, shoosh, those ladies have the speedy comic patter thing down. In zippy succession, they discussed their fondness (or lack thereof) for Stars Hollow, the fictional Connecticut town that played home to the ladies Gilmore; how often (or not) they catch the many reruns of the show; how they handled (or didn’t) creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s mile-a-minute pop-culture references; and the truth (or fiction) to those persistent rumors of a Gilmore Girls reunion movie. Pay close attention, PopWatchers — this will go by quickly:
You can also see what Graham and Bledel had to say about their characters’ future in Entertainment Weekly’s Reunions issue (on newsstands now), where you’ll also be treated to interviews with the reunited casts of Back to the Future, The Lord of the Rings, Will & Grace, Scream, The West Wing, Pretty in Pink, Alias, Married… With Children, and more. *sigh* Man I really miss this show. Well, except for the last season. I’m still pretending that didn’t happen.
me too!
and anything with luke’s daughter. still bitter about that foolishness!
ugh I hated that whole thing.
Ugh, Lorelai & Christopher, Luke’s daughter? SO pretending that didn’t happen.
But Gosh, watching this, I miss seeing those two together…
I agree. I hated Lorelai and Christopher together. (I always thought he was such a jerk.) I also hated Luke’s daughter. They brought her on just to ruin Luke and Lorelai’s relationship, and she was very annoying. I also couldn’t stand Logan. He acted like a creep most of the time and Rory kept giving him chances he didn’t deserve.
I agree. I thought the last season was mostly just damage control for the trainwreck 2nd last season. Luke having a secret daughter was the worst.
My Gilmore Girls happy place runs Seasons 1 through 5. I have an impressive ability to delude myself into thinking 6 and 7 never happened.
Hey me too!!!
We’ll they did happen !!!
The entire series was fantastic but I think it did need another season to finish off what was started in season 6 and 7.
AGREED!
Eh. I was seriously upset with the 6th and 7th season… the story line fell so drastically. Who could honestly like Logan? Also, if a movie (which lets all agree should definitely happen) I think some damage could be repaired and all would be well again.
Agreed as well!! I’m recently rewatching all the seasons on DVD, and now that I’m in the 6th season I find myself fast-forwarding a lot. It also really sucked to watch SOO many episodes where Lorelai and Rory weren’t talking!!
ditto.
I pretend Gilmore Girls ended with the season 3 finale…only Lorelai and Luke and Jesse and Rory ended up together.
I don’t pretend it ended that early, but I definitely like to think that Rory and Jess reconnected at some point after the show ended.
Jess was a total tool!! Im really glad that she didnt end up with Jess. I think for sure that a movie needs to happen so that we can all get a true finale! We deserve it.
I loved that show, i still watch the re-runs on ABC family. And I totally agree about ssn7, it was kinda really completely bad compared to the rest of them.
I’m pretending that the last part of gradutation didn’t happen. Actually in my mind, Logan showed up to the bon voyage party they threw for her
Love Them!!!
I know. And when you see an interview with them, you realize how much of themselves they put into the characters. So we truly did love them!
They were interviewed in February and it’s only out NOW? WTF?
They were waiting to finish all the reunions, I’m guessing, so they could release them all for this special issue.
I love that the clip ends with Lauren saying “OMG, I’m so old”.
Oh man, I miss that show soo much. I love Gilmore girls and I love the actors…it’s GREAT to see Lauren and Alexis back, they look beautiful as always!!
I miss those two on my screen.
And let’s not forget Emily! Oh how much I miss her acerbic wit!
LOL – my husband and I were just discussing that yesterday as we watched an old rerun. Emily was probably our favorite character other than Lorelai and Rory.
LOVED Emily. Hated Rory. Miss the show.
You miss the show, but you hated Rory? I find that difficult to comprehend.
Most people I know who watched the show hated Rory. She was really annoying. I liked her, but in the clip above Alexis seems really unenthused.
Yeah, I was was either annoyed with Rory or furious with her stupidity most of the time. There were a few times where I liked her, but she mostly grated on the nerves for the most part.
finally someone else that hates rory, lol,
I didn’t really like her…she was such a crappy actor. But I got used to her but she really sucked. She had no range
Whenever I happen to come across a rerun of the show, I have to stop whatever I’m doing and sit down to watch until it’s over!
if there is a movie it should center around rory and jess, even though after all is said and done, and after season 6-7 he is too cool for her.
Well a year on the road with the press covering Obama’s campaign should have made her a bit more cosmopolitan. Definitely think she belongs with Jess.
Rory completely belongs with Jess, especially when we saw peeks of the writer and independent young man he was becoming… He was the only one of her boyfriends that ever challenged her, and I think she needed that.
Yeah, I hated that the show lost Jess for that spin-off that never even came to life. He was the the one for Rory, most definitely.
Yep, Jess was my favorite of Rory’s boyfriends, especially when he returned much more mature. Dean was too whiny and it was creepy that they slept together when he was married. Logan was just a jerk. I couldn’t believe Rory still wanted him when she found out he’d slept w/ all of his sister’s bridesmaids.
But don’t forget that for most of the show’s run, Jess was a rude, sulking layabout. Just because he read literature didn’t make him any more likeable to me. I couldn’t figure out what Rory saw in him. It was only years later, when they re-connected, that he seemed to have gotten the chip off his shoulder and became more pleasant.
Hello?! He was the “bad boy”. I think he was just so different and mysterious that it makes sense for a girl like Rory to be attracted to him. I think Jess in some way they just got each other, even if Jess was dealing with his life in a bit of an angsty way… It was only a plus that they both appreciated good lit.
This is one of my two all-time favorite TV shows, along with “The West Wing.”
God I miss this show. A movie would be sweet. About Luke & Lorelai and being married, with Lorelai pregnant. Rory reporting on the campaign trails and Logan coming back because I love those two together.
No. I think it should just forget about Logan although I love Matt Czuchry. Jess is Rory’s soulmate.
I really hated Logan (though like you, I love MC). What an ass he was. In my mind, Jess and Rory reunited and are one big happy fam with Luke and Lorelai (I’ll ignore April).
I had a hot dream about MC last night, though he was a lot taller in the dream
you’Re so right…that would be AWESOME!!!
Logan? You’re kidding me. He was so annoying. Not as annoying as Rory became though (“How dare the mother of the women who’s husband I slept with be mad at me! I don’t feel sorry for sleeping with her husband anyway!”).
Logan always had some witty comment when being introduced to someone, which annoyed the hell out of me. He was just too smooth.
And whenever he set up some elaborate surprise for Rory, he’d always explain “a friend of mine owed me a favor.” He must have said that a dozen times!
Oh I miss this show so much! I loved all the characters…they were brilliant!
Don’t forget Michel…got hooked on Gilmore Girls while I was recovering from surgery for breast cancer. The humor was a great diversion.
Michel: “EEEEEE!”
Sookie: “WHAT is wrong with you?!”
A movie would be great. It would be great to see Logan & Rory back together. They were terrific.
Jess, not Logan. Logan is too superficial.
Agree! Never liked Jess, though he was better in the end.
nope i totally agree I heart Logan sooo much! Jess was not right for Rory at all! Logan on the other hand got her to take the stick out of you know where lol. Dont get me wrong i do love Rory but she was really uptight until Logan.
I want a movie so so bad! I want Rory and Logan back together! I just feel like the series ended wrong like they were still suppost to be together. I really hope to see a movie soon!
One of my favorite 5 shows of all time.
