'Survivor: Nicaragua' quick take: Double elimination time!

Eliminations are so nice they had to do it twice on tonight’s episode of Survivor: Nicaragua. The tribe members battled for individual immunity, with each tribe then having to vote someone out. My full recap will be up at midnight (UPDATE: Click here to see Dalton’s detailed Survivor recap), but if you’ve already watched and want to sound off on the people sent home, then read on after the jump for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Wednesday's episode of Survivor: Nicaragua.]

In an individual challenge that forced the contestants to catch rings while wearing toilet-looking contraptions on their butts, Holly and Jill each won immunity. Jill then beat Holly in a final ring toss allowing the La Flor tribe to feast on kabobs while watching Espada’s Tribal Council — after voting out one of their own, of course. And La Flor’s Tribal Council was a doozy indeed. Clearly in trouble, Marty still decided against using his hidden immunity idol. When the votes came up with 3 for him and 3 for Kelly B., it appeared Marty would be sent home on the re-vote (especially with no idol to protect him), but instead it was Kelly who was voted out of the tribe. Finally, a good ol’ fashioned shocker!

La Flor then stuffed their faces while they watched two Espada members, Dan and Yve, attack each other’s arrogance and lack of a sunny disposition. In the end, the youngsters of Espada voted to keep the walking wounded in Dan and kick scrappy Yve out of the game.

Did La Flor blow it by voting out one of their own and keeping an immunity packing Marty in the game? Did Espada blow it by keeping a guy who can’t even walk on their tribe? The whole point of splitting the vote was to flush the idol or get rid of Marty! Why didn’t their follow-up vote go for Marty instead?! I am completely dumbfounded by that move.

    • shamboh8

because Kelly B was a wild card and would’ve definitely flipped after knowing they voted for her. Marty is more predictable because they know that he has the idol and can flush it out the next time.

      • gforce

I agree brenda made a great move

      • Jason

That is one take. But I disagree, respectfully. Kellie B had nowhere to flip to. She has no allies anywhere, and no idol. Getting rid of Martie just leaves Kellie B and Jill, both isolated. Who cares if they team up. Now they continue to have to sweat the idol and the conniving Martie, who has already been shown to have some appeal to the erratic Fabio.

    • J

Idiotic move. Marty has an idol. They could have voted him out without it coming into play. They didn’t. Morons.

      • Steve

        Who’s Marty?

      • jj11

SPOILERS on page2 by douchecanoe Missaye. (just wanted to let everyone know

    • Rider

The original plan made all the sense in the world, but switching to Kelly B on the re-vote didn’t make any sense. Both were threats in a final three, but if they went after Marty, they get rid of a smart player and the HII. Maybe they thought that Marty couldn’t sway a jury in the same way that Kelly B could, but that would be really shortsighted. Dumb any way you look at it.

    • LOL

No one cares about this crap.

    • Brian

I agree completely. Horribly stupid move. You either get Marty to use the idol or vote him out. Now Marty is for sure an enemy, wise to you, AND still has the idol.

  • Rhonda

    Danny’s Strategy?

Does anybody think Danny may be exagerating the severity of his knee injury? Maybe he’s saving all of his strength until as late in the game as possible – then he’ll surprise everyone.

    • Anna

No. I think Danny is a living, breathing testament to the stupidity of both incarnations of the Espada tribe. That’s got to be some powerful voodoo smoke Gimpy McLimp Limp’s been blowing up their arses in his efforts to remain relevant to two versions of the same loser tribe.

      • Rhonda

I agree with you, and when my husband suggested the possibility, I said, “no way” at first. But he thought that would be one heck of a strategy. No one has used an injury to make it to the end before.

The guy does nothing at camp. He’s sits out every challenge. And he’s a whiner. Yet, he’s still there.

      • Anna

I get the need a player may feel to downplay his/her physical prowess, especially as merge time approaches. I just don’t see any merit in keeping Danny around. Holly, human fruit loop that she is, couldn’t jump loyalties fast enough, the brats from La Flor are firmly in charge, why on earth are they keeping Danny around? Yeah, okay, Tyrone’s overbearing and Yve’s standoffish (taking a guess on that), big deal, at least they could blow their own nose without needing to take a nap afterwards.
        But on the other hand….
God really must work in mysterious ways because it is giving me no end of pleasure to see Na’Onka’s shoulders slumping further and further down with each subsequent Espada loss, to say nothing of how soul warming it is to see her living in squalor (even by Survivor standards) and deprivation.

    • Steve

      Who is Danny?

    • Ellen

I wondered about this, too. Because sometimes he seems to “hobble” more than other times. We’ll see.

      • hickstead

I have a physical disability that is very painful, and some days are always worse than others. It’s completely possible and likely that the same goes for Dan – be it the temp, the humidity, whatever, that some days it just hurts more than others.

  • shamboh8

I know many think she did but I don’t think Brenda blew it at all.
Kelly B was a huge wild card whereas Marty isn’t.
Plus Kelly B. would’ve been angered that they voted for her and would’ve most definitely flipped if given the chance.
I think, while sad, Brenda made a great move getting rid of her.
GREAT tribal council and great episode.
I’m definitely rooting for Brenda after this :D

    • Shambo’s #1 Fan

Brenda is cool, but Shambo is better. Shambo shall show up at the merge naked and win the game when all the losers run away in fear!!! :D

  • C

I mean, the move to get rid of Kelly was understandable, but kind of sad. She was just too trusting. Everyone was out to get her from day one.
Oh and how dumb and gullible can Fabio really be?? haha he’s frikin hilarious.

  • Mark in FL

The stupidity of tribal council votes never ceases to amaze me. A golden opportunity to get rid of Marty and the immunity idol and they vote out the girl with the artificial leg (cause she’s a big threat in individual immunity challenges, no doubt). Stupid. Brenda is going to regret that vote, I think.

  • Victor

Watching Brenda put that Russell wannabe in his place in front of the whole tribe was absolutely amazing to watch. And I do agree that La Flor made the right decision in booting Kelly B. She probably wouldn’t have been too keen on La Flor after getting three votes.

    • Caitie F

Who cares? She is easy to get rid of next time they lose. Not getting rid of Marty was a huge mistake.

      • Victor

Better to stick with the devil you know, though. They might not lose again, and then they go into the merge and they have no idea what KB is going to do. At least with Marty, the line has been drawn, as he said so himself.

    • Brian

So if they would have kept Kelly B, she might have flipped In essence, their net loss of enemies was 0. Plus, Marty still has the idol.

  • Brett

    Bring back Survivor Talk!

    • Barb

I agree. I loved Survivor Talk! I miss watching it.

  • Stephanie

Brenda’s not as smart as she thinks. I suppose her logic in getting out Kelly was because she feared a ticked off Kelly B- but where was KB actually going to go? With Maty & Jill so it’ll be 3 against five- no six? Although Jud is likely to flop, nonetheless Brenda still had numbers. Brenda needs to watch herself, she’ll become as cocky as Marty…and maybe have her closest allies stab her in the back…
I just want to see Jud win, I honestly dislike everyone- Jane was ok but now she’s ridiculous. Everyone is so blah- I think they over complicate things.
Hopefully Jud makes the merge and wins immunity every week. Really, all you need is that.

    • Stephanie

Wait…had they gotten rid of Marty, Kelly would only (maybe) have Jill and even less likely of a possiblity Jud…so- seriously. STUPID move.

      • Vetle

Also, what if their tribe wins the next immunity challenge? It just buys Marty and Jill more time. I kinda wish for it too. I really like Jill, but I’m not too fond of Marty, at least not yet.

Favorites: Jill, Fabio and possibly Brenda or Chase (or Kelly Purple, WHO KNOWS??? WHO IS SHE REALLY???)

      • Luvin Survivor

Amen about the other Kelley. We have a Survivor Pool going. My husband has purple Kelley, & I had to show him last night who & where she was hiding…ha…..

  • Jaimes ????

Where oh where is Purple Kelly?

    • Steph

      Who?

      • Steve

I thought Kelly B was the only Kelly this season…

    • MCS

      Her?

  • nom de plume

There is not one likable player left, just cutthroats and followers. There is not one leader or admirable character in the cast, only the snakes that get rid of the what would be the best players. I don’t like the series this season. It has been reduced to a very bad game, reflecting the worst in society winning over the deserving.

    • John Debono

Agree, this is as far looking like the worst post-merge tribe sine Thailand.

      • Big Dave

Um, the merge hasn’t happened yet. Pay attention, because there’s going to be a quiz.

    • Dave

I disagree. Look at the players that are gone. Kelly B. played a weak game. She didn’t even know she was on the chopping block and didn’t try and approach Marty. One Jimmy asked to go, and the other was arrogant. Tyrone made himself an outcast. I don’t see how the remaining cast is any worse than other seasons.

  • Jamie

Dummos!!! Kelly B. had zero alliances/allies. Could easily been gotten rid of next, since the arty-leg is such a major threat to everyone. However, you NEVER pass up an opportunity to get rid of someone with an IMMUNITY idol!!! Will bite them in the arses, I have no doubt.

    • Rhonda

      I agree with you 100%!

    • Terry

I know. I keep thinking what Russell would have done with these idiots.

  • Dave

So what does Marty do now? This just bought him another week. Now he knows that Jane isn’t with him. Can he get somebody else on his side?
I’d love to see Jane go before Marty. Marty is playing a strategic game, she’s playing a mean game.

    • Victor

Jane is playing a mean game? She’s been pretty much harmless and only flipped on the old folks because they outcast her in the first place. Maybe you’re mixing up the names…

      • Dave

Not mixing up names. Jane was out of the mix on the old folks team. I think it’s a bad move going to the new tribe and immediately selling out your old team. It doesn’t work. It just puts you at the bottom of the totem pole, especially when the tribes merge and they don’t need her anymore.
Her confessional comments show that she just wants to burn Marty in the game. The young tribe could have decided to boot her instead of Kelly B. and she would never have known.

    • Steve

      Who’s Jane?

  • Matthieu

Ultimately their split vote voting amounted to nothing. Marty’s still there with his idol. Hope Brenda gets voted out for her idiocy and her slightly more diplomatic than NaOnka (but somehow just as offensive) comments on sympathy vote. When will they get there is no such thing as a sympathy vote in Survivor? If that were true the rafting guide would have won season one. Marty’s annoying but now I’m rooting for him and Jill, just so witchy Brenda gets her torch snuffed.

    • Dave

Marty didn’t play his idol. Could he have had inside info from Fabio that they would vote Kelly B. over him in a tie?
I agree about Brenda. Her trying to stir up trouble at tribal against Marty was stupid… I guess a failed attempt to get him to play the idol.

      • jj11

Good one. I didn’t think of that. I would like to believe that Fabio is smarter than he comes across, but I am doubting it now. It may have been just sheer ego from Marty that saved his fanny.

  • Jimbo

Think Brenda made a huge mistake not getting rid of Marty, because now he’s going to do everything he can to get rid of Brenda, and I think he just might be able to pull it off. It’ll be pretty hard, but hey, crazier things have happened.

As for Espada, hope they enjoy losing even more challenges due to having Gimpy McCrutch on their tribe. It’s funny how Holly, before the swap, wanted Danny boy gone so badly and yet now she’s totally ditched the whole “strengthening the tribe” thing to axe Tyrone/Yve. Seriously, Dan’s gonna make it to the end despite how huge of a liability he is. Undeserving people have gone far in the game plenty of times, but I think Dan might be the most undeserving of them all.

  • eimee

I totally agree, stupid move by Brenda. She acts like she knows everything but then keeps a player with an idol ?? See how smart she acts when her other tribe members get sick of her. She talks about everyone and thinks her body will get Chase and Ben on her side. Can’t wait to see her torch get snuffed.
