“Next summer…,” promises the narrator in the new teaser for Cars 2. “Get ready to roll with the world’s newest secret agents.” Huh? The sequel to Pixar’s wholesome story about talking racecars and small-town Americana is going to be a spy flick set in exotic locations? Yup. No word yet if Lightning McQueen is now an Aston Martin, but check out the brief teaser below.
Is you engine revved up for Cars 2? Is there part of you that hopes this teaser is playing a joke on us? Or are you comforted by Pixar’s flawless track record?

*scratches head*
I thought this film was about Cars…
Seriously, WTF.
And it’s called “money.” It makes the world go round.

Don’t comment on LD’s posts, he gets off on driving people nuts. The surefire way to get rid of him is to ignore him
are you really that little bitch on tv or just complain as much, stop being being a gay electric car…If your a real man cars spoke to you and reminded you of you youth and how much fun it was to play with cars and going for rides with your family was always a fun time.I guess you played with a dreidel and took a subway.
I was so with you until you called “Toy Story 3″ terrible.
Cars is the only Pixar film I didn’t like, so I’ll pass on this one.
My least favorite Pixar film. Did it really deserve a sequel? But I will still see it. LOL
Totally agree. The plot is basically “Dr. Hollywood”, and the characters are flat, unlike other Pixar flicks.
Exactly. I hate this movie because I already saw it and Michael J. Fox is the best. That said, my four year old loves it, no matter how much I tell him it is an act of blatant plagiarism. Kids, huh? no appreciation for intellectual property…
Yes!! Thank you, Cars was a total ripoff of Doc Hollywood – which along with “For Love or Money” are two Michael J Fox’s seriously underrated movies. Pixar should keep the sequels reserved for Toy Story only, their ability to keep coming up with unique stories is what sets them apart
I don’t think there’s a possible way to justify any opinion other than Cars being the clear worst entry in the Pixar canon.
Cars is the worst Pixar flick… but if it were made by Dreamworks or Fox/Blue Sky (the Robots/Ice Age guys) it would be labeled as one of THOSE guys’ better ones.
Still, something tells me this will be WAY better than the 1st one now that it won’t be a Doc Hollyood-type movie.
It doesn’t matter how I feel about it. All I know is that if I take my nephew, I will be deemed the best uncle in history.
An informal poll of my two nieces and their friends tells me that this movie is HUUUGE with really young kids. I’d say moreso than any other Pixar movie except for “Toy Story.”
That’s is probably the reason I don’t care for it as much as I do Pixar’s other offerings.
With the exception of Toy Story, I see more Cars merchandise than any other Pixar (and for that matter, Disney) movie. Kids go wild for it.
THIS. TRUE.
no kidding! i was bored to tears but my son looooved it.
Exactly. My kids love Cars. I am sure my youngest’s first word was Cars. A great tribute to the nostalgic, never was but lives in our hearts America. Can’t wait for the sequel because Pixar always pays attention to character.
Yeah, this seems weird and I’m not entirely sure they aren’t yanking our chain.
When I first heard there was going to be a “Cars 2″, I was lukewarm at best since it’s my least favorite Pixar flick. Now that I think about it, maybe that means there’s room for improvement.
Most importantly, Pixar’s track record speaks for itself. (Even if I don’t fully understand why we’re getting a “Cars 2″ before a second “Incredibles.”)
I think Cars 2 comes sooner because Incredibles would be a more difficult write. Any take with the family fighting crime is just another superhero movie (I hear there have been a few recently). Cars 2 might be a Chuck type thing since Lightning only thinks he’s suave. And Mater would be great in the Morgan-sidekick role. Git-R-done!
Easily one of the better Pixar films – it gets plenty of playing time in my household of 3 boys as well. Certainly looking forward to this sequel.
Cars 2 was moved up a few years ago to coincide with the opening of Cars Land at California Aventure.
Whoops I ment to reply to @mr holloway
@ Traci…Ok, I can see that.
Cars was a horrible movie. There is no need for another.
I’m thinking it’s a Mater Tale?
Sounds like one to me, too. I can’t see them making a feature-length film out of a Mater Tale, though.
So since the first Cars was a blatant ripoff of Doc Hollywood, will this one be a blatant ripoff of Casino Royale?
If you can say Cars is a Doc Hollywood rip-off, then you should also say that A Bug’s Life is a Three Amigos rip-off, and The Incredibles is a Fantastic Four rip-off, and WALL-E is a Charlie Chaplin/Buster Keaton rip-off… There is nothing new under the sun. Don’t know who said it, but its true, even for Pixar.
God said it. It’s in Proverbs.
actually Solomon said it ecclesiastes
Wow, there are a lot of Cars haters out there. I still really like the first movie, which is astounding seeing as my first grader has watched it on average 5 times a month since he was 3.
Exactly! It’s one of my favorite Pixar movies by far…I never get why a bunch of people didn’t like it.
I am a teacher who fell in love with this movie because my students were obsessed with it. And I saw why. It was my favorite kids movie and I have waited in anticipation for the sequel. Dont get the haters at all.
Cars is my 4-year-olds FAVORITE movie, and ever since we made the mistake of telling her they are making a new one, it has been all she talks about. No matter what it’s about, as long as Lightning and Mater show up, we will be in the seats the day it opens. Honestly, after seeing it on a weekly basis for about a year, I think Cars has a bad rap. Yes, it’s not as good as Up or Toy Story, but it’s way better than Ratatouille!
So very true!
Cars is MY favorite Disney/Pixar movie! Loved it. It was my son’s favorite for years and it was one of few movies I could stand to have on over and over and OVER. My guess is the whole movie Cars 2 won’t be about this – probably Lightning McQueen in the movie is starring in a spy film. I have just been wondering what they will do about the loss of Paul Newman as Doc (not to mention George Carlin as Filmore, though he’d be easier to replace b/c the voice would be easier to duplicate) – did they do the voice recordings before he died? Wouldn’t be the same without him. Part of the charm of Cars was the Radiator Springs setting. I can’t believe how many people don’t like this movie. I love it! To each his own.
Am I the only person who saw the blurbs from D23 where they announced that Cars 2 had the gang in Europe because Lightning was doing the euro racing circuit and somehow someone was mistaken for a spy and hijinks ensued. Considering there wasn’t much room for a sequel plotwise, they could do worse than a screwball comedy. (Though obviously, they’re doing this to sell more little cars)
I completely agree with you!!!! Cars, while not even close to being Pixars best, is very underated and far better than Ratatouille and Bug’s Life.
Cars was Doc Hollywood with a better script. A sequel was made so that parents have something to take thier kids to see at the local mall.
“Cars” is not a bad film at all, but it is the weakest of the Pixar films. I’m surprised this is the first Pixar after “Toy Story 3″ to have a sequel. “Toy Story” deserved to have its two sequels, but I’m not sure if this film deserves one.
Well, it will only be an improvement on the first one for one thing, that’s for sure.
I think they’re doing a movie that will make crazy $$$ on merchandise so Disney will get off their backs about making riskier, less “merchandise-able” flicks like Up, Wall-E and Ratatouille.
Do all of you people like anything? Just curious cuz I see the same names on all these posts and you guys hate the world.
Love love love me some cars. Can’t wait until the 2nd one comes out!! I Loved the first as much as my then 4 year old. And still watch it everytime we can catch it on tv!!!!!!!
