They should go ahead and make it. It might be fun, but even if it sucks, it’s not like they’re going to pull the original out of circulation.

I love RHPS and I love GLEE, but no. Just… NO. Leave well enough alone. I can’t even make myself go see a live stage production of RHPS because nobody can top Tim Curry as the good doctor. I *am*, however, excited for the upcoming RHPS episode of GLEE.

Sorry, I meant “no” to the Rocky Horror Picture Show remake.

Rocky Horror fans throw toast at the screen when watching the original. I imagine they’ll bring napalm to toss if they do a remake.

A remake of “Shock Treatment,” on the other hand…. redoing the cautionary tale on the dangers of televising “real life” would be brilliant in this day and age of reality tv.

As much as I love Glee and looking foward to their Rocky Horror episode, the 1975 Rocky Horror Picture Show is a classic and should be left alone. Remaking it could butcher what was already good.

No – No – NO! – There is No way that this film should ever be remade – it’s a cult classic – and the only reason it’s been as successful as it has for the last 35 years is due to it’s die-hard fan base going to see the midnight showings on a regular basis… It’s that same fan-base that is denouncing ANY sort of remake accross the board – Why can’t they figure out that this is one of those things you just don’t touch… – the relationship between this film and it’s audience with all the audience participation that has evolved over the years is special and unique, and it was something that happened on its own…- you can’t recreate that…

Oh god no. Never. If he touches it, I will kill someone. Tim Curry is god, and any other Dr. Frank is inhumane! It’s a CULT CLASSIC. And he’d do SOMETHING to it to make it more appealing to younger generations etc. and that would ruin it. His renditions of it on Glee are enough to make me want to never see that happen. And remakes usually suck anyway…

WOULD ALL OF YOU JUST SHUT UP.
SERIOUSLY, THEY’RE ALOUD TO DO WHAT EVER THE HELL THEY WANT TO DO ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY PROBABLY HAVE A BIGGER INCOME THAN MOST OF YOU TROLLS UP THERE.
I’M ACTUALLY REALLY EXCITED FOR THIS EPISODE BECAUSE I’VE LOVED THE ORIGINAL MOVIE SINCE I WAS FOUR YEARS OLD AND DANCING TO THE TIME WARP. SO STOP BEING SO DAAMN CRANKY AND DO SOMETHING BETTER WITH YOUR TIME. SERIOUSLY.

There is absolutely no reason to remake RHPS. It is perfect as it is. I was very disheartened to hear of past efforts to remake it with Marilyn Manson as Frank-n-furter. I love Glee and am excited about tonight’s episode but a full-length Rocky Horror remake will no be welcomed by me.

That’s such a bizarre suggestion. The movie is a cult classic because of the performances, and because of the live tradition (yelling and throwing things at the screen etc). What would be the purpose in trying to remake it? The original movie on its own is not that good, but the live experience is what makes it great (I had this same issue with the Glee episode, which barely even referenced the live experience). Would they do a remake with the intent of the film standing on its own? I don’t think it would work, nor is it necessary.
