Andy Richter will return in 'Conan'

conan-andyImage Credit: Dana Edelson/NBCAll hail, Andy Richter will rejoin his old pal and longtime colleague on Conan, which is set for a highly anticipated November 8 premiere on TBS. Conan O’Brien sounds enormously excited about the reunion. “This decision was made without my authority,” he said in a statement. “I will get to the bottom of this.” In his own statement, Richter celebrated the prospect of  “getting out of the house again.”

Why is the prospect of these two good guys getting together again exciting? Here’s why (but beware of spicy language):

I assumed he would be on the show, but I’m still excited!
Question: What the name of that Andy Richter show on NBC? I really liked that show and somehow the name has been erased from my memory.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe- Awsome show.

      • Evan

        Andy Barker, PI

      • JR

Andy Richter Controls the Universe was on Fox, but I agree that it was a really funny show.

        Hotloverf is right.
Andy Richter in an interracial superstar.
TMZ has reported that he has a huge ‘Member’ in his pants.

Why do we have to put up with hotloverf losers. Anyone DUMB enough to do this is truly loser for life.

I’m so glad to see Andy Richter will put his red-hot Hollywood career on hold to help out his pal. Classy. I hope that Abe Vogoda can squeeze Conan in too – I know that’s a long shot, like Richter, but hopefully he can reschedule some movie shoots and show-pilots to be on Conan once in a while.

Yeah, it was a little quiet.

      Highway to Heaven

  • Dave

I thought I already knew this.

    • Jer

      I thought you did, too.

    • Jerry

No, man, it wasn’t this that you knew – what your thinking of is that you knew that yo mamma gobbled my man-essence last night. That must be what your thinking.

      • Robert

what a lame attempt at a rip. At least spell “you’re” right you idiot. You strained with the effort and totally failed

      • Dave

Wow, Jerry. You are just so darn clever.

  • Sara

I’m excited, but I hope Andy gets to do more on the new show – on The Tonight Show he was little more than an announcer. He is freaking hilarious and since he’ll never be on a successful tv series (R.I.P. Andy Richter and Andy Barker), might as well get the chance to be funny on this show.

    Andy Barker, P.I

    • Mel

I still miss that show! Andy and Tony Hale were hilarious.

  • Nick

Glad to hear it. I think there was a picture in TV Guide that referred to him as the former co-host. So, I bet this was to clear up that.

  • LOL

    I’m with Coco!

  • amie

Awesome! Really looking forward to Nov. 8th.

  • Bob

Conan’s rating will be the highest they will ever be for the first week of his new show. People will tune in just to see how bad it is. And to see if Andy Richter is still standing at a podium 40 ft away.

Meh. dissapointed. I watched the Conan show years ago with Andy and after he left. It was much funnier without it. I feel like he drags Conan down. Like he’s part of the show so they have to stop the flow of Conan’s jokes to include him in. Don’t like him. I’m with coco and all but dissapointed about this.

    • The International Nomad

Agreed. Andy isn’t funny, just depressing.

      • Erik

Those jokes you are talking about, Andy was one of the head writers.

    • Rob

I was hoping Conan would go solo again. Nothing against Andy, just thought Conan became very funny and really came into his own after Andy left Late Night.

  • PDB

I believe Andy himself said he’d be back with Conan over the summer on Marc Maron’s podcast

  • Scott

NBC probably owns the rights their best bits (Satellite Interviews, In the Year 3000, Andy’ll try It!) Hope they used the break to come up with new stuff just as good.

    • C. Ainsworth

As I recall, they released most of those properties to Conan as a gesture of good faith.

  • Doremifah Solatido

I’m surprised Richter is walking away from his hugely successful solo career to go back to what he was doing halfassedly over 15 years ago…..oops.

    • Thatguy371

      Hilarious. And true.

    • Angeleen

And yet, Andy is still more successful than you. (or me for that matter).

  • stickittotheman

    An awesome 2-4-1.

  • Preston

The Conan-Andy pairing is inseparable to me. They’re like brothers every time they were on the old Conan show on NBC. They are so funny together! Good that Conan O’Brien landed Andy Richter for his TBS late night talk show.
