Image Credit: Dana Edelson/NBCSaturday Night Live will air a two-hour tribute to its female cast members Nov. 1. “The Women of SNL” special will include clips (duh), but also new material from Rachel Dratch, Nora Dunn, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Laraine Newman, Cheri Oteri, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, and Kristen Wiig. Um, Jane Curtin and Julia Sweeney, call your agents!
This special is obviously a follow-up to last year’s hit Betty White episode, and who knows? Maybe the sustained interest in SNL‘s female performers will lead to there being more of them.
I’m hoping there’s an opportunity for Fey and Poehler to speak their “twin language”:

There are worse ideas than an annual “homecoming” show – perhaps doing a mash-up of various characters/sketches?

Um, Jane Curtin? Where the heck are you? I know you are around since I saw you on Jeopardy in May. I feel like it’s hard to have a “Women of SNL” special when we’re missing 1 of the originals.
I agree It would not be the same without Jane and Larraine, but it’s better than what they have been showing lately.
Oh, I agree. I’m not saying I don’t like some of the later women as well, but the original cast is still my favorite. Plus I just want some sort of joint Jane/Tina/Amy Weekend Update?

Really can’t stand Rachel Dretch . . . same old, same old boring voice for every skit. Love Cheri Oteri, Betty White, Ana Gasteyer, Jane Curtin, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon. The others I really wouldn’t miss.

Jan has been on 30 Rock twice as Jenna’s deliciously twisted mother. She’s almost as hilarious as Elaine Strich as Jack’s mom.
Jan Hooks WAS in in the special! She did the short spot in the bed with the silk pillows-remember she slipped & fell & was recovering. a guy feeds her at the end of her skit. But where were Victoria Jackson(6 years on the show) and Julia Sweeney-Pat!?
