'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows': New posters let you look the main characters in the eyes

With 42 days left until the release of the highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, Warner Bros. has released seven new character posters to further promote the film. The posters are simple, dark, and totally striking, spotlighting one of the film’s seven major characters: Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), Hermione (Emma Watson), Snape (Alan Rickman), Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter), Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno), and Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). (Collector’s item, anyone?) I was ridiculously excited to see this movie even before I saw these posters, but now I am beyond ready for Nov. 19th.

This entire poster series is visually stunning, and the extreme closeups show the intense emotion each character has in what will be one of the darkest films in the Harry Potter franchise. I’m not ready to accept that this film marks the beginning of the end, but these mature-looking photos (I see that facial scruff on Harry and Ron!) are a clear indicator that my three favorite Gryffindors are ready to move past Hogwarts and face the darkness of the world head on.

It’s great seeing each of these characters that we have come to love — or fear — over the course of the series take center stage in each of the seven posters. As much as I love Harry, I like seeing everyone get equal face time, as they’re all so integral to the story. As much as the Lord Voldemort — I mean, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named — poster freaks me out, I’ll admit I’m glad to see him sneering at me through my computer screen.

Excited yet?

You really should have included a link to the posters! For anyone who’s interested, Mugglenet or Snitchseeker both have them.
All of the DH posters have been terrific — the teaser poster with the burning school, three posters for the trio with London behind them, the trio running through the woods and now these character banners. All of them are excellent.
And yeah, Rupert Grint looks extremely hot there, as well as on his other character poster. ;-)

  • Jenny

I’m with the other posters. Why bother writing an article about how great the posters are and only include one picture?

  • Mr. Holloway

Greyback? Really? Would rather have a poster of someone like Lupin (or even Hedwig). (Tear.)

    • Casey

That’s what I was going to say. As I recall, he wasn’t all that important. (But then again, the last time I read DH was like 2 years ago.)

Dobby deserves one–I think I’m going sob uncontrollably during that scene.

  • Dave

You should mention the other two posters, one of Voldemort, and one of Snape, both with the words “The Hunt Begins” on the poster. Very cool.

  • Celia

Try mugglenet.com if you want to actually SEE the posters.
They all look AWESOME. I love the close up shots of all the characters. I seriously can’t wait for this movie.

I need that Ron poster in my house, Rupert Grint is looking so hot. Finally Ron doesn’t look like the comic relief in this film, I really hate what kloves did with the character in prisoner of azkaban, globet of fire and half blood prince.

  • Sofia

I saw the posters and they are great, I love the Rupert Grint poster his eyes are just too awesome. I think they are great because it sets the tone of the whole movie: dark, serious and much pain. I can’t wait any longer.

  • Laura W

These posters freaked me out when I saw them. Yes Ron’s hot but go did they have to be so close up!! Can’t wait!!

  • orville

I know that this is just being picky, but you’d think that for a poster that is in extreme close-up that they’d at least digitally change Harry’s eye color back to green instead of Dan’s blue. His eye color becomes a plot point at a crucial moment (or at least a moment that I *hope* will be in the 2nd movie). And it’s not as if those pictures haven’t been touched up already.

    • Hannah

Actually, they’ve kind of skirted around the green-eyes thing in the book. All that really matters, and they HAVE said this in the films, is that Harry has his mother’s eyes. That’s what matters, not necessarily that they’re green. The scene you’re referring to doesn’t necessitate him having green eyes, just “his mother’s eyes,” which they have mentioned in the films. So, relax.
