Fresh off her VMA appearance on Sunday, Lindsay Lohan is now reportedly in talks to host Saturday Night Live this December. An NBC rep for the show had no comment, but personally, I’m all for it. Lohan hosted in 2004, around the release of Mean Girls, and was completely awesome (she also hosted in 2006 — the episode was fine but not as hilarious). Who can forget LiLo’s turn as a busty Hermione in that Harry Potter sketch? And Lindsay also starred in one of my favorite SNL sketches of all time: Debbie Downer goes to Disneyland, in which pretty much everyone involved, including Lindsay and Rachel Dratch, completely lose it. Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth to star in family comedy 'The Reasonable Bunch'
Image Credit: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic; Albert L. Ortega/PR Photos According to The Hollywood Reporter, Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth, and Thomas Haden Church have all been cast in the comedy The Reasonable Bunch, about messy exes and their splintered relatives getting into it at a family wedding. Supporting roles went to Martin Landau, Ellen Barkin, and Ellen Burstyn, who do seem like the type of family members you see hugging the margins — mini lamb chop in hand, lipstick on their teeth — at a wedding. Production is slated to begin this month in New York, with Sam Levinson, son of Barry, yes that Barry, at the helm.
PopWatchers, is Demi Moore funny? Is Ellen Barkin the more garish American equivalent of Helen Mirren when it comes to her vaguely scary, undeniable sex appeal? Are you all for stories of wacky family dysfunction, or do you have enough of that in your real life already?
Clip du jour: Jim Henson explains and makes puppets
Behold: Jim Henson turning spoons and cups into emotive, charming puppets. This segment from Iowa Public Television in 1969 is totally mesmerizing — the random household scraps instantly come alive not with fancy decorations but with gentle, simple motions. Spoonhead and Paperface, you guys never got your due: READ FULL STORY »
Fans flock to 'Black Swan' premiere at Toronto Film Festival
Image Credit: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty ImagesDarren Aronofsky wasn’t counting on thunderous applause at the end of the North American premiere of his new film Black Swan on Monday night at the Toronto Film Festival, although that’s exactly what he got. His film’s blend of drama, horror, and humor elicited both screams and laughs from moviegoers, and when the end credits rolled, the audience cheered their approval while Aronofsky and his cast shared congratulatory hugs in their seats.
Hundreds of fans had lined for hours outside Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall to catch a glimpse of Natalie Portman, who stars as an ambitious ballerina performing in a production of Swan Lake, as well as co-stars Winona Ryder, Vincent Cassel, and Barbara Hershey. (Mila Kunis, who plays Portman’s rival, was unable to attend due to the shooting schedule of her upcoming rom-com Friends with Benefits.) The screening was one of the hottest tickets at this year’s festival, with movie buffs eager to see Aronofsky’s follow-up to The Wrestler, which played in Toronto back in 2008. Black Swan had already cause a sensation earlier this month after its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where critics hailed it as everything from a “masterpiece” to an “instant guilty pleasure.”

Clint Eastwood, Matt Damon, and tsunamis: Is 'Hereafter' too soon or right on time?
The prospect of a new movie directed by Clint Eastwood usually fills me with excitement. The prospect of a new movie directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon? Doubly excited. So why does the trailer for their new collaboration Hereafter leave me a bit hesitant? Damon plays a sad-eyed psychic who is looking to put his “I speak with dead people” past behind him. The first half of trailer seems to suggest a movie in which a number of characters grappling with grief and mortality will seek out Damon’s psychic, hoping he can help them find closure. Or something like that. I’m not sure; I just know it all looks really dramatic and atmospheric and thematically rich…and then a tsunami hits. Tsunami say-wha? I have no idea what a wave of water smashing and trashing a tropical resort village has to do with the Good Will Mindscanning stuff — Damon is nowhere to be seen in this footage — but the sudden shift in tone is jarring. One minute, Hereafter seems to be Eastwood channeling his inner M. Night Shyamalan thing — and then everything goes Roland Emmerich/catastrophe flick-ish. READ FULL STORY »
Chris Harrison blogs 'Bachelor Pad': Episode 6
Image Credit: Craig Sjodin/ABCBefore I get into the fantastic finale of Bachelor Pad, I want to once again talk about what a great little community of people we’ve created with this franchise. Last week, former contestants Amy Bean, Natalie, Deanna, Holly and their Stagliano boys showed up to support the premiere of a movie called Heaven’s Rain that my production company had a hand in getting produced. If you have a second, check out the story at Heavensrainmovie.com. Then on Sunday, Andy Baldwin, Ryan Sutter and I took part in the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Well, to be honest, they competed and I just finished it. The point is, though, that I love the community of friends this show has created over the years, and I very much appreciate their support.
Now that season one of Bachelor Pad is complete, I can tell you the things I was a bit surprised by (aside from Wes and Gia’s romance, that is). From day one, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to realize Kiptyn and Tenley were extremely powerful and had to be dealt with. I was surprised week after week how they managed to slide by. 'Bachelor Pad' finale: And the 'winner' is...
Before we get to that, rose lovers, let’s discuss the big losers from this, the inaugural season of Bachelor Pad: Dignity. Human decency. Natural breasts. Oh, and so many, many others. But yes, a “winner” was declared tonight (or was it “winners”? I’ll never tell!), so if you haven’t seen the episode yet and don’t want the purity of this sacred occasion sullied by Interweb spoilers, whatever you do steer clear of the comments below. For the rest of us… Did we really just spend 12 hours of our lives watching this show? And did we really feel a gleeful thrill when the winner was announced — as if somehow the outcome was right and just? And by “we” do I really mean me? Yes on all counts! What about you, rose lovers? Were you happy with the finale? Are you aching for season 2? And most importantly of all, WHO should be the next Bachelor? (I’m voting for Jesse B…. just so they can call the season The Bachelor: Banana Appeal.) Check out my full Bachelor Pad recap for all the details of the finale, and don’t miss Chris Harrison’s exclusive Bachelor Pad blog. In the meantime, share your hopes and dreams below!
