CBS greenlights another Twitter sitcom

CBS has signed on for another Twitter-based series: Shh, Don’t Tell Steve is en route to becoming a sitcom. The stream, in which a man obsessively tweets his immature roommate’s antics, isn’t a megahit the way S— My Dad Says is, but I actually think it has more legs. Maybe because I’ve been following it an laughing at it for months.

The opposites-attract roommate juxtaposition is a comedy staple, and the Steve of this Twitter stream is basically a walking sitcom character already: I like this one, for example: “Steve brought a Fish Rub he said will “melt your d–k off” I asked why my d–k would melt off. Steve: ‘Okay snarky guy, it was an allegory.’” He’s basically a frat-boy version Joey Tribbiani. And as much as his roommate snarks on him…they do seem to hang out an awful lot.

I don’t think this is the worst idea ever, PopWatchers. But let ‘er rip: Is there another Twitter feed you think is perfect for a TV adaptation? [THR]

Shyte Shatner Says is AWFUL! Why would they do this again?? ugh

  • Sara

This seems like a much better idea than the shatner one.

    Definitely @oldwhitemansays.

(BTW, I love that “Community” has just lampooned this trend, but CBS is surging forward anyway. Then again, “S— my Shay Says” has more than twice as many viewers as “Community”, so unfortunately they seem to be on to something.)

Word, @oldwhitemansays is hilarious! I love Community.

People need to follow charliemcdowell. He tweets what the dumb girls who live above him say. HILARIOUS.

Good news. They’re developing that one into a show too! D:

Gary Buesy’s tweets are great. Life with busey was so before its time…

Just because the s*** my dad says had viewers doesn’t mean it was a good show. It was completely disjointed like you’re reading a twitter page not watching a sitcom.
    No need for another one.
    CBS fail.

Am I the only one who is wondering if Steve has discovered that he is the subject of a twitter feed? Because as of right now all indications point to no…

too bad the tweets are a writer trying to get interest in turning it into a SHOW. sure, it’s a round about way to get to the netwroks but the in-authenticity of it makes me feel like i’m being duped somehow…and i don’t like beig duped…

  • Liza

If it has any resemblance to my dad says, it will fail.

  • Jay

I never watch anything on CBS anyway, so they can put whatever garbage they want on the air. Will probably be successful, too. You are all diseased.

    Sockington sitcom, anyone?

  • Lizzie

I didn’t think )(*_)*_)*()( My Dad Says was that bad, some really funny moments, but honestly, they could just take out the rest of the cast and just keep the Shatner.

hello miley cyrus see you like looks

  • brandon

I don’t care about the show, I just hope the twitter feed remains unchanged. Hopefully the show will be cancelled before steve finds out!
