'Saturday Night Live' premiere: Excited for Amy Poehler and Katy Hoo-hah?

Amy Poehler hosts tonight’s 36th season premiere of Saturday Night Live, along with musical guest Katy Perry — or “Katy Hoo-hah” according to this week’s Amy ‘n’ Andy Samberg promos (and, presumably, a bunch of moms who think their kids shouldn’t have/get to look at her boobs on Sesame Street).

Amy will be joining Seth Meyers for “Weekend Update,” but what else do you want to see from Poehler tonight? Will we see a Parks and Recreation spoof — and more important, will Kenan Thompson play Donna? (Reader Ryan’s suggestion!) What’s your favorite Amy Poehler/SNL moment? Mine is inexplicably when she played a dollar bill with Mickey Mouse hands in 2005. That sketch was WTF-ridiculous, but I loved her in it.

Discuss tonight’s premiere here, then come back tomorrow for our SNL react! (UPDATE: Click over to read Archana Ram’s Saturday Night Live season premiere recap now.)

    Bronx Beat!

  • khm

The adventures of the dollar bill! That skit was hilarious and would definitely be relevant today. I really just want to see her on Update. I’d love them to bring back Kaitlin or Bronx Beat but they’d need Horatio Sanz and Maya Rudolph for them to work.

in the commentary of the best of amy poehler (yes, i understand how nerdy it is to both own “best of” dvds and watch their commentaries)she says that the dollar bill is her favorite sketch from her time at snl…

i havent seen hopratio in a while but maya is frequently on the show so you might see her.

  • LOL

We need a Christine O’Donnell sketch.

  • Jeff from Jersey; yes New Jersey

Ms. Poehler playing herself and receiving a vision of Jon Bon Jovie. For my New England friends, that was wicked funny! As I hope she and KP will be.

I LOVED that dollar skit!!!!!!! Amy is so amazing. Who else is hoping for a Will Arnett appearance?

    • noa

      100% with you!

    RICK RICK RICK RICK!!!!

wish Horatio Sans was still on the show…

    • Kate

I’ve never been to Disneyland! Not yet, Jesus!

I would love to see a ‘True Jersey’ skit – replace Sookie on True Blood with Snookie of Jersey Shore. ‘You vamps are sooo pasty – don’t they have spray tan here?!?” or random “Bite me…” quips.

    • Shannon

George Lopez did something similar by having the actual Jersey Shore cast do a phoney Twilight trailer on his late night talk show.
I’m all for a True Blood spoof, but Snookie and the gang are already bloodsucking, cold-to-the-touch monsters that just won’t seem to go away.

    Rick Rick Rick!

    Rockin one leg! Jealous?

    Avril Lavine.

    • Shannon

And the Dakota Fanning Show. I always enjoyed that.

    • gigi

      Yes!
      Yes!
      and YES!

      • MSD

“Thank you for the juicebox, Susan.”
“You can just call me mom, Dakota.”
        Always loved that!

aw, you’ve already dashed my hopes. (by writing that Seth Myers has returned.)

time for a new head writer at SNL.

  • K

She can’t do it again, but my favorite skit was when she is flirting with Josh Brolin at a bar all while she is like 8 months pregnant.
She’s great in just about everything. It seems to me she’s really one of the only, if not the only, female on SNL to play a male character. Lots of men have played women, but it seems rarely do they have the women play a man like her Kim Jung Il etc.

    • ann p

she was on jimmy fallon last night and still has a lot of her baby weight, she could easily pull off being preggers

  • Shannon

Perhaps it’s not all that relevant for Amy to rehash her Hilary Clinton, but it might be worth it just to see Poehler sporting that atrocious hair clip that the Secretary of State recently wore.

  • Dave

I’d love to see some of her classic impersonations, like Sharon Osbourne, Avril Lavigne, or Sharon Stone.

  • Nick

It may be too soon, but I she was great as Michael Jackson.

    • gigi

      Noooo…perfect timing!

  • pattycupcake

My favorite of hers is when she has this new boyfriend and she is just nuts about him and super enthusiastic, but he’s just this big mylar balloon man filled with air, the kind with the hands that wave all out of control, that you see out on the highway by car lots and other stores. she was so desperately oblivious. the skit was really surreal and funny and actually reminded me of both me and my friends, giving qualities to our boyfriends that they never had. awesome skit!

    • Dave

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that, it sounds funny! Was that a recurring character or a one-time thing?

      • pattycupcake

dave, i think it was just a one-time thing, kind of short too, but i wish i could see it again. amy played it straight with a nutty sweetness, talking up her great “boyfriend,” with his arms waving all over the place, and it was just really funny and absurd.

      • Dave

Wow, LOL! That sounds great, I love completely absurd skits like that. I’m kinda bummed I missed that one.

    • TR

that wasn’t amy- that sketch was on mad tv, and stephanie weir was the woman. but it was kinda funny.

      • pattycupcake

whoops, thanks TR! sorry, Amy! lol now maybe I can find that skit.

  • LV CRITIC

SNL is where Amy belongs, Parks and Recreation is a bore.

    • LOL

      Wrong.
