Lauren Conrad returning to MTV for reality series

lauren-conradImage Credit: John Shearer/Getty ImagesLauren Conrad, star of MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, announced on Ryan Searcrest’s radio show this morning that she would be returning to the network for a new reality show focusing on the young designer building her fashion house. (Conrad’s rep also confirmed the news; as of press time, MTV did not return EW’s calls for comment.) Conrad told Seacrest the new show “will be something very different.” The 24-year-old left The Hills on May 31, 2009 after attending frenemy Heidi Montag’s wedding to Spencer Pratt. More recently, she’s been focusing on her clothing line and her budding literary career (L.A. Candy; Sweet Little Lies).

What do you think about Lauren’s return to reality TV, PopWatchers? Will you watch this new show?

Looks like she just torpedoed “the city”

    • Drew

Haha yes i was thinking her show basically sounds like The City only in L.A (which is what the first 2 seasons of The Hills was…hmmm.)

I was really hoping she would not return to a reality show since she’s been successful after The Hills. But I still wish her luck and I am glad she kept her herself straight rather than go beserk like Speidi.

How sad, she feels like she can’t accomplish any new step in her life without cameras following.

    • wtf

um exactly how is she successful after The Hills?

She became a NY time best selling author, selling more than 1 million books. She is also producing a movie based on her books. She also design a top selling line for Kohls. She was also the face of Mark comestics for 3 years.

Hate to say it, but I’m excited. I’ve missed me some LC on MTV. This will be the perfect show to air alongside The City.

Danger u guys beat me to it. This sounds exactly like The City but lets face it– Lauren has way more charisma than Whitney. I say can The City and have Lauren and Whitney side by side again. Their scenes were always some of my favorite on The Hills.

I liked Lauren Conrad in the hills, what I didn’t like was everyone else. It was a little weird when Lauren left the show about HER life in L.A., but the show continued.

Building her “fashion house”? Her clothes are the schlockiest thing I’ve ever seen! I was stunned at the poor quality and design. Don’t see how fans can fall for the “drama” that is so clearly scripted on these “un-scripted” shows.

Love me some LC. Such a sweetheart and so beautiful.

I guess this dime a dozen wanna be designer is learning real quick that all the teenage girls buy her products because she is on MTV…no MTV and she becomes irrelevant in the fashion world.

I think you hit the nail squarely on the head.

Always have loved Lauren… she wasnt like the rest of the people from The Hills. I am happy to see she is on her way back to MTV

Jeannab, her clothing line isn’t that bad for the price point (if you’re talking about the line she does for Kohl’s). But the thing is, she doesn’t really design it. About a year ago it was revealed that last season’s Project Runway contestant Ra’mon-Lawrence Coleman was the creative force behind the LC Lauren Conrad label for Kohl’s.

I love her. I was hoping she’d come back to TV. I cant wait.

but who will her friends be?

So many reality TV shows are based on the same idea and then it’s fitted for whatever “star” that’s featured. I’ll watch but doubt that it can be much different than The City. I’m glad that The Hills is gone, nothing but spoiled rich kids. The City was OK but not that far from boring. Never did get why Olivia was kept on after all the crap she pulled.(oh yea she was the story)MTV should stick with Road Rules and The Real World. Although, showing Ryan stealing prescribtion pain meds from another roomie was not cool. Reality TV has gone way over the top and I think the networks should bring back sitcoms and stop all the reality shows. There’s something to say about “not showing everything”. Leave some imaginnation to us, please.

I’ll watch! The Hills went downhill after Lauren left, and she always seemed like she was above all that drama anyway. Maybe this will be a little more serious but just as entertaining?
